I just hope we give it a go in the Europa, like Everton did. We've seen how difficult it is to break the top 6, a mid table finish will be fine next season. I hope we treat it with a bit of respect. Spurs and Liverpool both played weakened sides, so they could focus on the weekend and getting a win to finish on the top 4. Both of them ****ed it up and the end result is they achieved nothing.

Balotelli's been an absolute disaster, can't believe they thought it was a good idea signing him. I don't think Les Reed would take him on a free. Hopefully the sky love in with them will stop now, a fifth place finish after the money they have spent is a failure.

Yep, had my biggest bet of the season tonight. I ****ing hate Liverpool, but they were certs. Luckily theyve got the early goal so I can watch something else!
-
We still have a great chance of 5th. Obviously Liverpool will win tonight, but we're just about hanging in there. I'd be happy with 3 more wins, which is what I think we will get. What a season that would be.

Let's not get too excited, that was poor. Delighted for Pelle though, and Tadic was impressive when he came on. However, massive chance now of at least finishing above Spurs, providing we beat them. A point will do next weekend at Stoke. Still a lot to play for, hopefully even though we've won RoKo will have a word.

Haven't heard any rumours, but a player I think we could realistically get and will improve the side - Moussa Dembele

No one actually knows why we didn't buy a striker. Maybe we had targets who were unavailable at the time, or maybe it was just difficult to bring in anyone better than we already have? A lot of posters question it, but who exactly should we have signed?
-
We need a striker who can score 15 goals a season, but how many of them are there? People constantly slate Pelle and Long, but how many players not playing for a top 6 side are scoring that many goals? Lambert was slated on here last season even though he got into double figures for both goals and assists. I'm sure the club are working hard on bringing in another striker in the summer, but it will be tough. Any proven goalscorer generally gets snapped up by the big boys. Who does everyone suggest we go for?

Remember where we were 5 years ago! In all seriousness, I know how you feel. In early January things were looking so good. I'm beginning to wonder whether the players had the belief, it was a position we'd not been in, maybe there was too much pressure? And that's not a criticism. I just felt like we after the wins against Arsenal and United we were back on the right track. The beginning of the end was the Swansea and West Ham games. We should have taken a minimum of 4 points from those. We really have to battle to finish above at least one of Spurs or Liverpool.

Spurs very poor, they never look up for the fight when teams get in their face. You have to admire Burnley for their work rate and effort. They just lack any real quality, bit too much hoofball going on. Still the better team though.

What the **** are you on about? Sure, I got it wrong and am happy to admit it, but what is your point in dragging up this post? How long ago is this post from? And don't make stuff up, the only player I ever really moan about is JWP. Go find something more productive to do with your time instead of trawling through forum archives

I'm looking forward to the Europa league, but we will never have a better chance of gatecrashing the top 4. We can go on about having a meltdown etc. but it's just massively frustrating how we've fallen off the pace. Going back to new year, it was looking good for us. In the game against Arsenal, we ripped them to pieces then got a great result at Old Trafford. All that hard work was undone in the games against Swansea and West Ham; those two games killed our season. It nakes it worse that we dominated both games, yet failed to score. Suddenly we looked clueless in front of goal and it's been the same ever since. I can accept we are probably the 7th best side in the league, but to get in the position we were to where we are now is hard to take. It's a game of fine margins; we are only a top class striker away from being in 3rd/4th, but unfortunately they are hard to come by for a club like us. I'm sure we have someone lined up for the summer. I don't blame Pelle or the club, it's just one of those things. I'm not expecting a good league finish next season, would much rather we go for it in the cups. It's been a good season, but it could have been great. Very much a case of 'what if'. We just need to pick ourselves up now. Really hoping Pelle can start finding the back of the net, genuinely feel for the guy as it's just not happened for him.

The only PL team not to score today; embarassing
-
Shame the season has ended like this. We should just about scrape 7th, can't see us winning more than a couple more games at best. Still, a great achievement for a side whose main striker hasn't scored this year. We need to start planning for the Europa League now.
-
They went on a good run, but their squad simply isn't good enough. Everyone's slating Sterling, maybe he just wants to play for a better club? It's only pro-Liverpool people saying it's the best place for him
-
Everton not looking too strong in attack. We should really win this
-
Sounds like they might have a few out. If Lukaku and Mirallas aren't available, there can be no excuses for not winning this game. Everton 1-Saints 4
-
That's very early, we certainly have a lot to play for still. Don't want to be finishing 7th, would be nice to give the early round games to Liverpool.
-
Very happy Pelle has scored, albeit against a poor side. I'd assume he will be up against Jagielka at the weekend
-
It would be a Brucie Bonus if we could sign him up
-
I wouldnt get in a panic; KD can do a job for the rest of the season. We're pretty much guaranteed 7th spot, and anything more will be a bonus.
