The all-new relegation prices thread (2020/21 edition)
Saint_Tony replied to tisspahars's topic in The Saints
I'm one of the most pessimistic fans I know, but seriously, we could almost stay up on 29 points. Fulham are so great they have won 3 games all season. We could lose our next 10 games, in which Ralph would be gone, and a new manager could scrape a couple of wins. It's likely to be a dire end to the season, but we have overperformed. Look at our net spend and what we have spent. You have the big six then the likes of Everton, West Ham and Leicester who operate a level above and will now spend £40-£50m on players. Our top end is £20million. It's frustrating, but that's where we are. We have no right to be better than the likes of even Newcastle. -
good arm control there by Dendoncker
-
makes you realise how much of a weakened side they had out on Thursday. Can't see us winning this
-
how long before Ralph and Ings jump ship and go to Spurs?
-
hoping for a win and to get back on track. In terms of importance, our most important game coming up is Bournemouth. It is unrealistic for us to make top 7, and ludicrous to suggest we may get relegated. Think we will win this 3-1.
-
absolutely no excuses for not winning this, c'mon Saints!
-
quite simply, this is the biggest game we have left, lose this and it really could be a dire end to the season. The league is done, we are not quite good enough to finish top 7, and there are 3 teams so bad that even one of them will be lucky to get to 29 points. I'm hopeful Ralph knows this; from the team he picked in the last round I think this game will be taken very seriously.
-
absolutely have to go for this now, league campaign is over; there will be no top 7 and no relegation. Hopefully KwP is back. Wolves need to get their league season going so would expect a weakened line up from them. Maybe give Ings a rest and bring off of the bench. Wolves 0-1 Saints
-
quite nervous for this game, feels like we really need a win but would take a 0-0. Alex Mc Ramsey Bednarek Vest Bertrand Djenepo Romeu JWP Minamino Ings Adams
-
Bednarek available, good news

Completely different context to the Leicester game. It's an unacceptable result, but we will recover from it. Biggest concern has to be Ralph walking. He's put everything into the job, even got us to the top, and not it's all falling apart, largely due to factors out of his control. And we all know how often the Leicester result STILL gets referred to most times we play, it is going to taint his legacy, even though for me, he is one of the best managers in the League. Need a response at Newcastle; can only hope a few are back for it. Go back just 6 weeks and I was feeling positive about taking a Europa spot. That's gone, but come on, we are not getting relegated. Theres probably 3 teams that won't even get 29 points. As Nige has said this morning; blue line under it, move on.
-
probably just a training exercise for Utd if they get an early goal. However, If its still 0-0 at half-time then we have every chance of winning. Utd 2-0 Saints (Rashford 11, Fernandes 59)
-
Villa are much improved this season, thought they were decent when we put 4 past them earlier this season. Having said that, the way the media and pundits talk about them you'd think they were challenging for the title. We look tired, and it is worrying. We just don't have the squad depth to be able to rest anyone. Hopefully KwP and Bertrand are back. May even see Vestergaard and Rom Saints 1-1 Villa
-
going to struggle without KWP and Bertrand. Arsenal aren't great, but they rested a few at the weekend so should have too much for us. Looks like the focus is going to be on the FA Cup now, which is understandable.
-
didn't expect that line up. Lumped on us to win at 9/5, should win this comfortably, 3-0
-
we should get through tonight. But there's no chance of us beating Arsenal, even if they rest a few. When is the next round scheduled for? got to get the ££ down on. I'd imagine Ralph will be targetting the Tuesday game to bring back some first teamers, rather than the weekend
-
could really do with winning this to open up a gap between ourselves and West Ham. They always seem to be a problem for us, although have a couple of players out and short turnaround between games. Going to go for a cagey 1-0 Saints win via the shin of Che Adams from 2 yards
-
fair result, we were fairly solid defensively, but didn't create enough going forward. Walcott so wasteful in possession, something which has hampered him his whole career. Probably should have had a penalty though for the handball, seen plenty of those given when its been more minor
-
Lee Hendrie I believe
-
the bookies have shifted the odds well in favour of Fulham very early on. Poor start, but that's to be expected, we've had a fairly solid line up all season until now, and the lack of quality in the squad shows
-
would almost be too good to be true if we win this. Whilst we should get at least a draw, it just feels like we must be due a defeat and that Arsenal can't possibly lose again.
-
Can't see us getting anything without Ings. Utd have a clueless manager but still enough quality. 3-1 Utd (Fernandes pen 22, 56, Rashford 31, Adams 82)
-
hanging on a bit now. Commentators desperate for Wolves to score.
-
with there being no internationals until March, you'd think thats the end of any chance JWP or Ings had of making the Euros squad gone. Personally think both should be there but Southgate has plenty of options at the bigger clubs. Ings is a far better all round striker than the likes of Abraham and Calvert-Lewin, but looks like they are currently ahead in the pecking order.
-
Pre-season optimism has well and truly gone. Almost feels like it was a waste after the restart, we were playing great then for nothing, and now at the start of the season we are awful. May only be 2 games in, but another defeat on Sunday and things are looking worrying
