1. Going to 'the Dell' as it is now and sitting on a kerb and crying because I'd never got there when it was a ground (I was plenty drunk). There is no 2-10. Also Saintkiptanui you did 12. God bless the Dell for giving me some of the finest results an overseas Saints fan could ever have dreamt off. I raise my glass to you!

D'oh I thought this was the good news to soften the blow of Rasiak going to one of our rivals!
-
Did he arrive wiith the nickname 'Killer' or is it one bestowed upon him by the Mighty Saints fans?
-
2-1. Stern John back to haunt Brum with the winner!

I thought Burnleys were at one end of the pitch (although I believe they have revamped their stadium now) as well as Preston but once again i know they've built the new Invincibles stand which may well house the changing rooms with the dugouts on the same side. I am fairly sure there are others.

Wednesday night after Birminghams carling Cup game
-
On the radio it said Surman tried to get the ball off him. I would say the lads confidence is fairly high now
-
really? BBC & Sporting Life still say 0-1 to Lincoln! Doh! Refreshing screen makes it 1-1
-
Voted no to music as 'Boro, Wigan & Bolton have done it when the stadium is half empty and it sounds pap. Also if we're 3-0 down in the 90th minute and we score is it really worth banging 'I FEEL GOOD' out?
-
As a previous poster said it looks like 'senior' players won't be getting a run out to prevent them being cup-tied. Stern John may spend all 90 minutes on the bench but at least he's made the squad.
-
I reckon you are wrong but that's just my opinion and only time will tell. This is what the majority of fans wanted last season and now it's here (and we have one narrow defeat to our name this season) and suddenly it's a bad idea? Stern John was banned for the first game so no doubt will figure during the season. Yes Rasiak is a class finisher but if he's sold on 31st August and we've been playing him regularly then we have to slot another striker in. If he's still here come Sept 1st then I'm sure Jan will start to utilise him (his words from the Saints Forum last Thursday). Have faith and remember Rome wasn't built in a day! Happy Clappy over and out!

Same team as Saturday except Bart in for Davis, Mills in for Holmes and Thomas instead of Killer. They need a win to lift confidence and young James will be wanting to rectify the error of giving away the late free-kick.

Agreed. Ask the Sheff Utd fans how gutted they are after a 93 minute goal goes in for the home sides only shot on target. Sadly the phrase sh*t happens is extremely relevant in football not just Saints.

I wear mine when I play 5-a-side. I believe I'm spreading the word here oop north! :-)

Kelvin Davis to be sold with Rasiak, Saga and Skacel
Saints67 replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
But he didn't say it did he? -

Was Euell mentioned? I heard him being talked about but not whether he was in the shop window. -

Unless my hearing is going I don't think Jan said these players were un-motivated! I will agree he said saga, Kelvin, rasiak and Rudi may well be gone. -
The following papragraph sums the whole thing up and predictions using past performances, money, signings etc. are virtually worthless: - "Virtually anyone can beat anyone, helping to provide an entertaining platform on which the majority of the division can harbour hopes of mounting a promotion bid, while being equally wary of getting dragged into the relegation dogfight at the bottom."

From Stokes offical site Southampton 2 Stoke City 3 Posted on: Tue 05 Aug 2008 City continued their impressive pre-season form after ousting Southampton 3-2 in a competitive friendly at St Mary's. Dave Kitson put the Potters ahead on two minutes, before David McGoldrick squared things up on 32 minutes. Vincent Pericard stroked home a screamer to put the Potters back in to the lead in the second half, before Stern John pegged City back for a second time just a minute later. However, with just ten minutes remaining, Tony Pulis' side chalked up their fifth win from six thanks to an own goal from Saints defender Jamie Hatch, after more good work from the impressive Pericard. Tony Pulis handed Seyi Olofinjana his first start for the club following his £3,000,000 move from Wolves, while Denmark number one Thomas Sorensen made his first appearance as a second half substitute. Leon Cort returned to the starting line up after recovering from a minor thigh strain which he picked up in Austria, while Kitson continued up front partnering Mamady Sidibe. Liam Lawrence wasn't involved in the squad for the game, despite travelling with the squad to the South coast. A frantic start to the game could have seen the hosts ahead after just 17 seconds. McGoldrick burst in to the box from the kick off but drilled his effort over the bar. However, just 60 seconds later it was the Potters who drew first blood. Kitson met Sidibe's neat flick on with aplomb and smashed home his first goal for the Potters, much to the delight of the travelling 223 City supporters. The visitors continued to dominate the early proceedings with Anthony Pulis warming the palms of Kelvin Davis with a long range effort. Former Sunderland stopper Davis was then forced to produce an outstanding save minutes later to thwart Pulis, who went even closer with a strike which was expertly tipped around the post. A combination of Simonsen and Cort denied Adam Lallana the chance to equalise in the 17th minute, after the Saints striker looked set to level from close range, before the City pair cleared the danger. Carl D**kinson was forced off shortly after, having fallen awkwardly under a challenge from a Southampton midfielder. Malian international Sidibe could have doubled the advantage for the visitors mid way through the first half, but after latching on to Olofinjana's clever header, his effort was well blocked by former City defender Wayne Thomas. Jan Poortvliet's side went close just after the half hour through Lallana, who after beating two defenders drilled a 25-yard effort inches wide of the right hand post. Pulis shuffled things about a bit with a change in the 34th minute, replacing Cresswell with former Southampton loanee Vincent Pericard. The hosts pressure paid off in the 37th minute as McGoldrick cleverly controlled and turned in the penalty area before flashing his effort across Simonsen and in to the bottom left hand corner. Simonsen had to be alert on several occasions before the end of the first half, firstly to thwart Lallana and then to save from the impressive Jake Thomson. Both managers made wholesale changes during the half time interval, with the hosts lining up a totally different eleven, while City welcomed Sorensen, Salif Diao, Jon Parkin and Danny Pugh to the field. Saints youngster Jamie White gave former Aston Villa keeper Sorensen his first taste of action in the 61st minute, with a thunderous effort which the City keeper superbly reacted to. Lewis Buxton was next to be brought on, with Cort making way for the former Portsmouth youngster. The hosts almost found themselves 2-1 up mid-way through the second half, after Sorensen let the ball slip through his palms, only for Grzegorz Rasiak to have his effort cleared off the line by Wilkinson. It was City though who would take the lead with just over 15 minutes remaining. Pericard picked the ball up 40-yards out, danced past a defender and launched a thunderous effort which dipped beyond the outstretched hands of Bartosz Bailkowski and in to the top left hand corner. The lead lasted barely two minutes though, as last seasons top goalscorer John headed home unmarked from 6-yards. An injury to Shawcross in the 79th minute led to Cort making his way back on to the field in bizarre circumstances. With the game looking likely to end all square, City snatched a deserved victory late on after Pericard, who impressed, beat three defenders, rounded the keeper and then watched Jamie Hatch knock the ball in to his own net after trying to clear the ball away from danger. CITY: Simonsen (Sorensen 46); Griffin ©, Cort (Buxton 63), Shawcross, D**kinson (Wilkinson 28); Delap, Olofinjana (Diao 49), Pulis, Cresswell (Pericard 34); Sidibe (Pugh 49), Kitson (Parkin 49). Subs: Whelan SAINTS (1st Half): Davis; James, Perry ©, Thomas, Surman; Thomson, Schneiderlin, Gullett, Holmes; Lallana, McGoldrick. SAINTS (2nd Half): Bialkowski; Hatch, Thomas, Racine, Mills; Dyer, White, Wotton ©, Wright-Phillips; John, Rasiak.

Pericard scores a screamer apparently. When he was with us he looked like he couldn't have scored in a brothel.

Would seem like the OS are following OUR thread "As they lined up, Dyer played out wide on the right, Wright-Phillips on the left and Rasiak just ahead of Stern John."
