I would rather be "happy clappy" than miserable like you. I am absolutely f*cking gutted, frustrated, annoyed and not looking forward to monday at work at all. The difference is that I have the intelligence to put that to one side and recognise what a performance the players put in yesterday, we were quality but we got caught out at the end. Of course I want better, I don't WANT us to lose 4-1 to those dirty fish fiddling w*nkers. But I'm also realistic enough to realise that there was nothing more the players could have done yesterday, Pompey may be a poor premiership side, but they are still a premiership side. Although you will no doubt say the final score is all that matters, things are never black and white, and yesterday was about so much more than that.
-
****ing hell mate what do you want? They were up against a premiership side and in order to compete and actually look the better team the players ran themselves into the ground for 70 minutes. If the players had had 'paced themselves' we would still have lost, but tamely. At least we gave it a bloody good go. Miserable b*stard.
-
They were knackered.
-
Tim, as others have said you have a valid point in general, but what you have done is picked the wrong game to try and demonstrate it. We have conceded unnecesary late goals this season but todays were simply because we were pushing to get back into it and the lads ran out of legs after working their arses off. We were not humiliated in any way. The suggestion that we should have shut up shop at 2-1 or 3-1 to keep the score respectable is a completely stupid one in my opinion.
-
It was a bit naive of us, but we were trying to get back into it, most of our players were completely knackered and their forwards were bloody quick. It was always a possibility.
-
At least we got a goal to celebrate. I've not seen the place go that mental in quite a long time. That was amazing. Loved the game and the atmosphere, proud of the lads and anybody who watched the game would have seen a League 1 side give a very very good account of themselves.

Are you mad? James instead of Hammond? You must be.
-
I got grouped in with a bunch of little ****s by the civic centre trying to get at the Pompey fans. Was pretty stupid stuff but quite funny, nothing major. We got ushered down the hill by the police who were trying to get them round the back of Toys r us away from the station. So we went into Toys r us and played fifa for a bit. Didn't see any actual fighting myself.

A fish knife each?
-
Absolutely. What is going to get the players more fired up? Coming out to a chant of 'come on you reds' at top volume, or coming out to some sh*tty pretend tension building pop song ********.

Would you swap Wembley for victory on Saturday???
Barry the Badger replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Wembley every time. -
Somebody should rearrange the red and white cards so when everybody holds them up it spells out 'YOU SKATE B*STARDS' along the kingsland.
-
I would actually think that he has a pretty decent pass completion rate. He doesn't give the ball away that often. He generally plays quite short passes IMO rather than hoofs, the problem is more speed of thought, he takes ages to decide what to do, the opposition get back into position and we lose momentum.

FAO: Those who want to stand & sing at Wembley

But the way it seems they will sell the tickets, all the ST holders will be together along the side of the pitch. -
West Ham/Sheff Utd vs Pompey/Saints
Barry the Badger replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Its ok. He's probably sh*t. -
Bloody hell. If those are the best ten reasons they can come up with it shows how sh*t they really are. I mean, Matt Le Tissiers hair cut?
-
because everything for the past 5 years has been sh*t.

So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?
Barry the Badger replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
I'm coming from Shirley but via a number of pubs which may significantly lengthen my journey. -
Yes, I have. Sorry to **** on your bonfire

In which case the phrase "who would lift the trophy" would make more sense than "who will lift the trophy", which suggests that it is a foregone conclusion
-
Well if the players assume we are going to win it as easily as you seem to have, it will probably be Carlisle lifting the trophy.

Don't think I would've been in the mood for that last April. :-) That really was a horrible horrible day.
-
I would rather have a player who plays with a bit of fire and passion that occasionally oversteps the mark, than a lightweight player who goes missing when the going gets tough and ducks out of every single 50/50.

I think I remember reading that clubs can no longer put themselves into admin.

To be fair they are just angry and clutching at straws as a lot of us were last spring/summer. Still funny as hell though.
