  1. 1. At least £10m of the parachute payments will go immediately to football creditors. Birch has confirmed this. That figure is raising with each deferred payment (or % thereof). 2. Only 3 players' contracts expire in June: Benjani, Rocha and Ashdown - your ONLY 'keeper. All the BIG money earners will still be around: TBH, Kitson, Lawrence, et al.
  2. FWIW, this is how I read/interpret it as well.

Deepest condolences to you and your family. My own father is in his 70s and also has many stories from the 60s and 70s about drinking with such players as Channon, Osgood, Peach, Stokes, etc; so I fully understand where you are coming from with that. Good to hear the club has been helpful with your request. I hope everything goes as you would like it to on the 20th. RIP SaintBri
  4. Whilst I would also be happy with this outcome, it would set a very bad precedent. This is why te FL HAVE to do something, and the sooner the better! If they do nothing and the Skates are liquidated (meaning there is nothing they can do) then the next time such an event happens they will be legally obliged not to take any action against the perpetrator. Therefore, what is there to stop any club going into admin at a time they can take a 10 point hit with no real effect (i.e. not relegating them) then agreing a CVA (thus no further points penalty) building up more debt and repeating - whilst also blowing off a CVA (therefore all previous debts) without having paid a penny towards it. I fully acknowledge that (currently) all footballing debts have to be repaid, but don't forget that things such as transfer fees to foreign clubs are not considered footballing debts (bizarrely!) So a club could effectively sign a very good squad of players without having to pay their transfer fees - and if the FL do not take action now they are all but condoning such action. This, of course, would reflect badly on all English teams - and THEIR precious league.
  5. This sums up my thoughts exactly!!!
  6. I know I shouldn't have but I laughed after reading this: Originally Posted by Vladimir"When we had lunch and German talked about the Audi, he said he was worried that he might be attacked in London, and he asked what I thought," Mr Antonov, 36, recalled in a telephone interview. "I said: 'German, it's simply impossible. This is the safest town in the world. The whole city is covered by CCTV. Nobody can touch you here.' Clearly, I was mistaken. He was shot the next day." He gets a few things wrong that Vlad!!
  7. Just checked what their over-paid players out on loan have been doing since bailing out of Notarf: Huseklepp - has arguably been the most successful - 3 starts (withdrawn around the 60 min mark on each occasion) and 4 sub appearances; scoring 2 goals to earn draws against Derby and Cardiff Lawrence - has played the most, starting 7 times for Cardiff - helping thhem to 5 draws, 1 win and 1 loss Mullins - as started twice for Reading. Didnt make the bench on Saturday. Possibly injured? (He was subbed off in is 2nd, and last, match there.) Henderson - as we all suspected..... was on the bench for the first match after his move to Wet Sham and hasnt been seen since.
  8. Good results so far today. Come on Saints, do the business!!!!!!!!
  9. Happy with that Also happy with Skates losing and Cov winning
  10. Pen to Reading and..... its in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3-1
  11. I had been thinking about this thread over the past few days bit decided not to resurrect it. However, as it is here............. This is my favourite quote: Even now, Adkins states before every match that he has never and will never unerestimate the opposition. I wonder if he read this thread all those months ago?
  12. Now you are trolling, again!! (In case of any doubt, I fully agree with you.)
  13. Thanks very much. Most appreciated by me and all ex-pats. One of the reasons I love this site!!!!!
  14. Personally, I think they will screw up one (if not both) of the next two games they are due to play.
  15. Well done for, finally, admitting it!! P.S. I was probably one of the few who would have welcomed Hoddle back; but am now fully convinced that Adkins is a far superior manager!!!!!
  16. I am absolutely certain that we will finish closer to 1st than 17th!!!
  17. In answer to the original question: We signed Sharp for when Lee and Guly are injured (and now Rickie too).
  18. I agree, it is an amazing place. (I visited it courtesy of the RN).
  19. Yes......... Get there Own Goal!!!!!!!
  20. Excellent!!!
  21. Errmmm, he can't have been sold for anything the transfer window is closed. Or are they trying to cheat the system again?
  22. 48 - Lived in Minsk, Belarus for almost 8 years now. Grew up in Eastleigh (town centre); also lived in Bishopstoke, Chandlers Ford, Sholing, Hilsea (shudder), Gibraltar and Cyprus. First match was against Spuds at WHL in Jan 1970. We won 3-1. I can remember chanting that (we won 3-1) coming out of the stadium and on the tube, with my old man constantly telling me not to. As a 7 year old I couldn't understand why I shouldn't. Luckily we got home unscathed. Strangely, I cant remember my first home match - but think it was either Burnley or Blackpool the same season.
  23. I spent 15 fekin hours flying from Bermuda to Brise that way. What joy that was!!! Sitting facing the rear of the plane on a Tri-Star was a million times better.
  24. That means you would have joined up in '78? I joined in '79, retiring 8 years ago after serving 25. (I was a TAS Ape)
  25. I like it. It seems sensible and appropriate. Therefore, I doubt it will ever happen.
