  1. He's the good old fashioned British chairman that every family club needs. What do you think?
  2. i that case £8m + Danny Fox. PMSL.
  3. Harchester United did alright with Linda Block in charge.
  4. I've been impressed by the work of mike Garlick at Burnley. Taken that club from a run of the mill midtable side to serious promotion contenders on a limited budget. Made some astute signings, got the best out of the likes of Danny Ings and Sam Vokes as well as excellent in selling players getting a good deal for Rodriguez and Austin. My burnley mate tells me their online ticketing system is excellent and their corporates areas second to none taking Into account the facilities on offer. He knows saints having solld players to us recently. He might be tempted to move to bigger club now with a bigger budget. As well as by CEO standards he's young and hungry so therefore guaranteed to improve. I reckon we should put a bid in of £5m for him to see if burnley will sell.
  5. This broom has had 17 new heads and 20 new handles RIP Trig. A true comedy genius. This crack me up no matter how many times i see it the funniest thing ever, Triggers reaction to Delboy falling over
  6. Primal Scream, they were another one, a fantastic band in their day. I'm not so sure about it being a great year for English football, i seem to remember it was the first time i ever saw face paints inside a football stadium and suddenly being a football fan became trendy so we had all the dinlow celebrities and their fake support for clubs. In many ways it was downhill from there.
  7. i for one dont think we've seen the last of Cortese.
  8. this thread makes me feel old. Oasis, Blur, Suede, Shed Seven, Pulp, Ocean Colour Scene, Manics, Charltans, Cast and so on. What a great time that was for British Music.
  9. Sadly Paul Allen is no longer with us. I can reveal exclusive footage of his death. [video=youtube;vzN3qO-qc8U]
  10. are you sure? Cortese is good friends with an entire company?
  11. Remember in your tyro league team, it was usually run by a dad who had sons. The sons were usually pretty enthusiastic, they were always helping put the cones out, carrying the balls and had no end of encouragement from their dad and were always the first name on the teamsheet every week. They had it all going for them, except for the fact that they were utterly gash at football. That might well be the case here.
  12. Did they ever find the spoon? I hope NC hasn't left with one missing from his personal collection.
  13. I'm quiting as a Saints fan and going to follow Cortese to wherever he ends up next, be that in football, business or even banking. I will pay to park in the vistors parking spaces outside his new office in tribute to him. If he goes back to being a banker i will sing "Cortese whooooh, He comes from Italy, he hates HSBC"
  14. Thanks you Nicola, it's been a great journey and he's done an excellent job, good luck for the future. But we are supporters of Southampton FC not Nicola Cortese.
  15. what's this about luke Shaws old man? Read a couple of posts about this.
  16. Like 'they' did back end of last season you mean? Waited until just before the Stoke game and we were safe and suddenly Cortese was considering his position, just like now.
  17. I'm not sure what the panic it, it's in the media so therefore it's all lies and boll+cks made up by lazy, lying journo scumbags. Isn't it people?
  18. Yeah that is a great song too. As are a number of songs on the masterplan, Acquiesce, rocking chair, talk tonight, going nowhere to name but 4.
  19. What's to say we don't get a chairman to take us to the next level? By July Cortese will have gone from the greatest chairman who ever lived to a clueless, midget wop who looked like a little boy pretending to do his dad's job.
  20. Still? You listened to it when you were 1?
  21. I remember watching a game last season where Guly tried playing a pass to someone that was intercepted which was met with outcry, shouts of abuse from the crowd and "Guly you're sh*t" from a bloke a few rows back. About two minute later Lallana did a similar thing and it was applauded as unlucky and a good idea. Unfortunately there are so many helmets that go to games that whatever Guly does is going to be wrong. Quite what he's done to deserve it is beyond me. He was very good first half of the championship season and got something like 8 goals and 9 assists before christmas, then the dinlows got on his back and he became the villan of the piece. All i see is a decent player who has done a job wheever he's been asked to and never let anyone down. He's no world beater but he's played a big part in our progress up the leagues.
  22. Where he's also not let anyone down when be called upon. Not a first team player now, wont even make the match day squad when everyone is fit but there are far too many bangwagon jumping helmets who just bleat out "he's sh*t" without actually engaging their brain.
  23. Done nothing wrong, key player in two promotions, scored some vital goals, a number of assists, willingly put a shift in wherever asked playing in a few positions. Now why do you consider him a failure?
