I wonder what the director of football is responsible for at Sues football club?
-
We have a world class filing system. It's happening. Our dream is real.

So he's good at shuffling paper, not so good at anything to do with football, yes?

Strange post from one of the biggest weirdos on here.

We'll probably lose at Sunderland but the worst draw we could have got! stills you never know magic of the cup and all that.

Martial arts are great for self confidence, fitness and patience. You ever met anyone that have trained in one to a good standard they are one of the calmest most decent people you'll meet but also have an aura about them. I've done boxing and Krav Maga in the past and really wish Id started when I was a lot younger.

The ideal life I would like my lad to have is play as much sport while he can while he can, learn a language and a martial Art to a very good level. Do a degree, then travel the world, come back after a couple of years and start a career. Run riot with the ladies and have a crack with your mates, then when you hit 30 settle down with a good woman and get the house and family. I did some but not all if this and some of it in the wrong order so if I could have my time again I guess that's how us do it.

The easiest draw possible at home, I guess that would be Leicester. We can win this if we get a bit of luck!

But the Lyon method is that you sell if you get an offer more than the player is worth. If we had an adequate replacement for Clyne for example and that man in Chambers and Chelsea offer £18m for Clyne then it makes sense to sell him and use that money to buy another player to improve the squad as well as having his replacement in situ. I don't think it's necessary relevant who we sell to but to make sure we have that replacement already in place and then spend the money we get wisely on another quality addition. That way we get 2 good players replacing one good one and the side is actually stronger as a result. I can't see another way for a club like us, it works for Lyon and it works for Dortmund. No one has seriously tried it in England so there is only one way of finding out. The other option is to spend spend spend and gamble the clubs future on chasing the dream, none of us want to see that. We have to accept that our very best player will move on and when they do what better way to move forward than how Lyon have done it?

It's a great point the OP makes and my concern too. The double training and high energy tactics do make me wonder if players will burn out as we get to the business end of the season, especially we have a good cup run. Quite a few comments on how tired some of the played looked towards the end of last season and that was before MP had really stamped his mark on the side. Time will tell I guess and we will no doubt need to use the full squad if we are taking the cups as seriously as us fans would like us too.

Agreed. It's this sort of stuff that is ruining the forum!

Against turnover yes it is expensive. Our Turnover in L1 was around £10m, high by league one standards, so Lamberts transfer fee alone was 10%, factor in wages and you're probably talking 15-20%. How many L1 clubs spend £1m on players?

It's always good to see posts like this from people with a superiority complex telling others what they should be doing and how stupid they are for not doing what they think they should be doing, because they think they are so much better than everyone else. It certainly wouldn't be boring if we were all the same.

As optimisitc as i am about our future i cant help but look at Villa under O'Neill a few years back. Spent a fair bit of money and built a good young team, 3 succesive 6th placed finishes then suddenly all the big boys were sniffing round their best players, most of which left, O'Neill quit and they started to decline. Inevitably the tops clubs willl look at our players so I guess to key here is to make sure if and when they do go we have adequate replacements in place already. This is the way we may need to do things..... http://swissramble.blogspot.de/2010/10/trade-secrets-behind-lyons-rise.html

Where is Craig McKaill Smith these days? It wasn't so long ago we simply HAD to sign him!
-
Isn't it amazing just to be linked with players like this though?!
-
Also a defensive midfielder, can't really see there being much in this.
-
Yep and Gazzaniga cost more than Davis so he should be in the expensive team too.

Leandre Damiao?

We almost got the full repoitire in there, "i've got a shed thats bigger than this" "we support our local team" "is this a libary" etc, the only thing that disapointed me was there was no chants of "Liverpool" or "small town near City" which always really gets under Man U fans skins. To be fair though it's at home where we excel over the years there have been some incredibly original chants, "look like a wotsit" "Paul Di Canio, he's such a w*nkio" "Small town in VIlla" (To Birmingham fans) and of course who could forget the wonderful renditions of "STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE" that cascaded down from the Northam stand, followed by everyone looking around and laughing like it was the maddest thing theyd ever done in that 2011/12 promtion season.

If it's just the Emirates you are desperate to see then simply buy a ticket for a champions league or league cup game. Dont take the ticket of those that what to go there to support Saints.
