Surely we'd do our due dilligence before making a bid. Sound his agent out if he'd be open to a move, what fee would they want, how much he'd want, speak to people at the selling club when we make an enquiry so we dont waste time on a player whose wages/fee is well beyond what we are willing to go to. I would be amazed and very disapointed if this didn't happen and we plucked a figure of the sky and hoped they'd accept it.

I get the whole thing of not offering what people want first but it seems a pretty pointless excercise to make a bid you know full well isn't going to be accepted. It'd been worth it if we had something to show for it. A good cup run, a semi final, a final, bo*locks, who knows, even winning the damn thing. But no, that isn't what the management of SFC wanted and some of the fans were duped into believing that it was all about building for the next season where we take our rightful place in the top 4. It's a real shame that arugably the best team we've had in 30 years has got nothing to show for it but it's an even bigger shame that the management and some of our fans were too arrogant to think that the time to push for some silverware was then and that given the way the draw opened up in the FA Cup it'd be a long time before we'd get a better chance of winning a trophy.

Hoolveld really struggled when we first came up, but so did everyone and he didn't help having Davis behind him and Fox to his left. Lets not forget Hoolveld played in two of our best performances towards the end of the first season when we beat Liverpool and Chelsea.
