  1. Because Cagliari have always set Serie A alight!!
  2. Medical i guess?
  3. Depends if we reinvest it in players or not. If we do a Lowe and sell the likes of Wayne Bridges and replace them with Graham Le Sauxs then we are going to be in trouble. If we sign the next Ramirez or the next Clyne, who by then will be playing for an established side then that's fine. In fact, if we make loads of money on them we could buy two of them. If anyone seriosuly thinks the likes of Ramirez will be here in 5 years time they are deluded. Even Arsenal cant hold onto their best young players. For us it's making sure we get the most out of them we can, enoy them while we can and replace them with the next one. I'd much rather do it our way than West Hams way, most football fans across the country probably would as well. I just think we should have started it as an established premier league club and done it gradually rather than in our first season.
  4. Are you sure this is the mongboard for you sir?
  5. Think long term Jamie. If we stay up and sell Ramirez in 2 years time for £25m, Clyne for £10m and Astori for £15m, with the TV and prize money covering the wages then it has been worth it. How many business do you know who have a one year plan? Buying football players isn't like planning this weeks menu you know!
  6. Of course, any amount of money is a risk. £12m gets you Ramirez Daniel Sturridge, both have masses of talent but are relatively unproven or it gets you Peter Crouch, a proven premier league player who is a fair bit older. The later is less of a risk, but the first two are ones that the fans will want to see and potentially represent better value.
  7. You can see clearly what Saints policy is. Buy good young talent, combine it with our own academy players and hopefully build a successful side. If they player decided they want to move on to a bigger club, which inevitably some will do, they will be proven players in a top Euopean league and we should be able to make a considerable profit on them. Of course this depends heavily on three things. The player fullfilling his pontential, for every Christiano Ronaldo there are 10 Francis Jeffers, the money being reinvested in the same way, ie signing the next Ramirez, Clyne etc and most importantly staying up. I'd be far more comortable with this policy if we had started it as an established premier league side with the likes of Ramirez, Shaw and Clyne surrounded by experienced pros rather than one that just come up where everyone from the chairman down had no experience or knowledge of the premier league* and our first season was always likely to be a releagtion battle. The big worry of course is that if we do go down we may have to take less for Ramirez, lallana, Shaw etc than we would have got for them otherwise. Or else we may be stuck with an unhappy player on a large wage who as a result is not performing, risking us coming straight back up. In fairness it's an admirable policy and the right one for a club of Saints size if we are every going to get anywhere near the champions league dream some of you have. It's also one that could blow up in our faces if it doesn't go as well as we need it to. *awaits for someone to tell me Davis x 2 and Les Reed have premier league experience
  8. You do realise he didn't become a multi billionaire by getting bored and walking away from his investments? do you seriously think he'd wake up one morning decide he's had enough and pull out?
  9. We need his FM stats and a you tube clip for the full house on transfer thread bingo.
  10. How do you know this?
  11. Dnt forget we can only do one deal at a time so if we are wasting time on him then we are not chasing defenders and goalkeepers. I can also report Les Reed was out socialising last night not trying to secure signings. This is a disgrace and I hope he'll be taken to ask by it. This is the January transfer window, not June. He has work to do FFS.
  12. Nice try at the 'I was there' superfan moral high ground, not that I care but it was only the fourth game I've missed since our first season in L1, good try though. Although I did watch it on a stream and had the benefit of a different view than the chapel end, the benefit of replays. This was of course countered by the lack of a 6 year old football expert next to me to guide me so I'll stick with what I saw, Which was a very good pass for Our goal and little else. Not much tracking, not much cover for the midfielder playing right back, 3 goals came from his side and Cork was hung out to dry with little cover, as was proven that 3 of their four goals from open play came down th right flank, I'm sure you 6 year old would have recognised this though. It's interesting you choose to compare Guly negatively with Puncheon though. Whilst we were I league one and the championship one player was willingly playing wherever asked and putting in shift whilst being abused by our fans for much of it. The other was off sulking, falling out with the owners and management and slagging the club off on twitter, he was even on record as saying he was happy to sit in the reserves, take his money and run his contract down. I don't nessasairly believe Guly is a better player, however in terms of attitude, commitment and loyalty to the cause there is only one winner.
  13. He was okay in the first half, poor in the second, as was everyone except Shaw IMO. Unlike a lot on here though I seem to have that rare mongboard ability that means I can recognise what a player brings to the team and say when they've played well or badly, unlike the usual default 'Guly is sh*t and can do no right' mode some have.
  14. At it again I see. Odd.
  15. You said Puncheon was far more effective than Guly. In the 3 games since he's returned Guly has directly influenced two goals (in two draws) we've scored as well as offering support to the left flank. Puncheon has contributed one assist and (in a game we lost 5-1) as well as 3 of Chelsea's goals coming down his flank yesterday, as well as giving away a cheap free kick which led to Arsenals equaliser on NYD. So I'd like to hear how a Puncheon has been more effective, unless of of course you ment negatively?
  16. Sorry fitz. We all know the only stories allowed like this are postive ones otherwise this story will be dismissed as bulls*it, even though rumours of a fall out between Lambert and SFC are very strong and that he was available in the summer.
  17. For one, I'm sure that is EXACTLY how the conversation would go and for two, we had bid for him, which was rumoured to be accepted or at least being negotiated, before the injury and for 3, what is to stop us lying to Cagliari and saying he's only out for a week?
  18. It's both isn't it? Puncheon was no where to be seen for 3 of their goals. He did put a nice pass through for Rodriguez goal, however if we are basing wide midfielders impact purely on this Guly leads Puncheon 2-1 since his recall. So how is Puncheon more effective?
  19. Id recommend buying some fat percentage monitors. You can buy scales that will give you it or a handheld device fairly cheaply and although they are not 100% accurate I tend to find they are a lot more accurate than BMI for people like us. BMI doesn't take into account your build and body shape, muscle mass etc so as I said earlier, things like if you have done or do lots of weights will give you a higher BMI than someone who is fatter but has less muscle, don't forget muscle is 3 times heavier than fat.
  20. He has the advantage that every Southampton player has through that they are guranteed to improve.
  21. I decided to have a day off yesterday as I need to do some stuff at home, lots going on at the moment! apologies if it didn't meet your approval. I'm glad Guly managed to meet the aproval of your six year old though, did you you discipline him and tell him not to Talk such nonsense? I did watch it on a stream though and like most of the players he was okay in the first half and poor in the second. As for a puncheon being more effective yesterday are you sure? Didn't 3 of the 5 goals come down the right hand side with Pucheon was no where to be seen?
  22. Can you tell at what point he says it's a great idea not to tell anyone who is injured, I must have missed it. Thanks. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2257039/Wayne-Rooney-injury-latest-Manchester-United-striker-miss-Liverpool.html Although having revealed Rooney will be out for two weeks it looks like Man U won't be winning another game for a while. Put your money on Man City for the title and Liverpool to thrash the next week as Bredan Rogers will know not to prepare for Rooney. What an idiot, he obviously hasn't got a clue what he's doing.
  23. Cork got absolutely destroyed at right back and was missed in midfield. Don't play him there again.
  24. And their support was terrible as well and they won.
