I doubt it. These sort of games are notoriously volatile affairs. Both teams keen to prove they are number one. The rivalry often over spills into violence. The best we can hope for is the inevitable injuries are not too serious.

The team that plays the best football get what they deserve and win, regardless of who we support. Football is just a day out and a bit of entertainment for most of us, after all.

How do you know we're richer? They've finished above us for the last 4 seasons plus have a years worth of TV money and premier league prize money in the bank. That alone means their turnover is more than 4 times what ours was last season. Got to love the arrogance of our fans.

The average premier league player is on £33k a week, so if want anyone half decent then £1m PA is no where near enough.

I will be cancelling my sky shortly. Had an ongoing problem with sky plus, it should be able to record two Channels at the same time or one and be able to watch other channels. As it is, for some reason it will only record one channel at a time and your have to watch that channel for it to work which defeats the object of having it. I've rang several times to have this fixed and nothing has worked. I called up again last week to try to get it sorted for about the 5th time and they said the box was now out of warranty by 3 days and I'd have to pay a £65 call out charge or take out a support contract.

And of course it's not impossible to understand. They'll be an extra 10,000 a week next season that couldn't afford it, couldn't get time off work or had family parties every Saturday when we were in league one.

It wasn't like that for most people I know. It was passed down through generations. For me, like most i Know it was a case of Going with my dad and brother, then just my brother, then my mates. As a little boy walking down towards the milton road end, the smell of fags and bovril, going thought the turnstiles and my first view of the pitch, standing behind the goal, seeing my hero Stve Moran score right in front of me. That's what got me hooked. Not because I had a spare £40, tossed a coin between football and the theatre and went along to see Saints v Man United because I had a few hours to fill on a Saturday afternoon.

Correct. When pushed on the point the view seemed to change from football being "no different" to the theatre that in actual fact this isn't the case as there are some difference. For example although they might be more interested in seeing Saints v Man U than Saints v Rochdale "they are still Saints fans" (post 51) so actually one of the key difference to a day out at football being different" to a day at the theatre is that they wold chose to spend their spare £40 seeing Saints because they are Saints fans, albeit not regular or committed ones, rather than just wanting to see a game of football, or a show.

No difference - exactly the same. Surely they mean the same thing, no? And at the end of the day, football is just a day out, he continues. Its no different to the theatre. So why go to Saints?
