this season i'll be singing he stand just under 6 foot 3 Ricky, Ricky Provided we achieve promotion to the premier league within the five year plan laid out by our esteemed chairman or failing that within a suitable period that he is able to achieve this within the time frame of his career and he doesn't suffer from a career threatening injury or severe lack of form and ability which deems him no longer good enough, he'll take us to the premier league, Ricky, Ricky He wears the shirt of Keegan, Phillips, Skacel and a number of other previous number 7 shirt wearers most notable Matt le Tiss, Ricky Ricky when he gets the ball he takes the p*ss Ricky Lambert, who last season proved himself not just a goal scorer but he is equally effective as a provider and dropping deep to recieved the ball and bring others into the play, Southamptons footballing machine.

Too old and a has been journeyman, we could do better.

Yes it is. There are two excellent business reasons for the increased car parking charges. It's getting us fans used to paying for parking so it's not a shock in the future when the car park is full everyday when we are in the champions league. When we have thousands of tourists invading the stadium daily having their pictures taken, stadium tours, visiting the museum etc. We cant blame all our newly found over seas fans for the charges and show them bitterness and resentment, they have always been there so we will welcome them to the SFC family. It's also about perception. We have a premium product and as such must pay for it. Do you think Armani, Gucci etc would be as loved round the world by the style concious if they were priced at the same level as Next or even Primark? By charging for parking Cortese is setting us a class above all these run of the mill championsip clubs and letting us know we have a great product, something lesser clubs fans can only dream of. I say embrace the parking charges, applaud them. It's setting us apart from the majority and run of the mill.

You pay to use West Quay car park to go shopping, why shouldn't you pay to use SFC car park? You dont have to park there, there are roads outside the stadium where parking is FOC. I am delighted to pay for the privilidge of using SFC car park though, contribution to the vision and future of this fantastic football club.
-
Then with such a high demand for parking spaces it's a wonderful gesture from Cortese to only charge £1 per hour. With so many people wanting to park he could rip fans off by charging city centre prices for parking. How lucky we are to have such a fantastic and thoughful chairman.

It is not mean at all, it is a fantastic piece of business.

I think when our superb fans sing "he stands just over 6ft 3" i think they are talking about percetion. That he is percieved as a giant of a player and that this song reflects this. It is also be a clever tactic to confuse opposition players into thinking he is taller than he is and that we will play long balls to him so they are not expecting the ball played on the floor to him with the total football we will play under Nige next season. Well done Saints fans, yet more evidence that we are the 12th man.
-
Not when this fantastic football is concearned, we are more than just a pay cheque, we are a way of life.
-
Why should you not be charged? You are parking on private property. If you get a bit peckish or thirsty during the game do you expet the club to give you free food and drink as you are need sustinance whilst giving your business to the club? There are roads around the stadium where you can park for free if you are that tight you begrudge giving this fantastic football club a few extra pounds here and there. Anything that assists us getting ahead of the competition is a good thing IMO and a small parking charge is small price to pay for the contentness i feel knowing that my hard earned money is going to a cause i adore.

This cant be true. we were told by Westender on this weekend that money doesn't matter. Players will join clubs out of loyalty, love for the club, wanting to live in the area, dream move to a club on the up, where his wife & kids will be happiest etc. All we needed to do was tell him the vision and the plans for the stadium expansion, tell his kids if he has any Peppa Pig world is only 5 miles away and show his wife west quay shopping and they'd be falling over themselves to join us. Money isn't a factor.
-
This. Very much. Over the course of a year it only needs 2m people to use the stadium car park, which is nothing for a club of our size and we have got a reasonable central defender or midfielder paid for. I applaud Cortese for his forward thinking a vision. £1 is nothing to most of us but looking at the bigger picture is could be the difference between the riches of the premier league and play off disapointment.
-
I dont know, which?
-
Personally i think the price increase is great news, it shows we are ambitious and that we are using all reveune streams available to increase our profitability, which willl ultimately help us attract better players.
-
If you are playing for your season ticket using the installment plan do you get to spread the payments monthly? On another note, has anyone noticed the little message the barrier gives you when you leave the car park? AS you put your ticket it in and the barrier raises it wishes you to "have a nice day" What a wonderful gesture from Super Nicky, he truely cares about each and everyone of us, we never had that sort of thing under Lowe and i cant think of any other car park which sends you a personal message on your way out.
-
I think you are worrying about nothing, he has already said "we will do what we want when we want to do it." That says to me that this is a manager in calm, confident in control and knows what he is doing. He is intellegent and the current squad clearly love playing for him. When you take these things into account and that players we approach will all be eager to secure their dream move to Southampton i dont think Nige will have any problems attracting players, it's just making sure we dont mug ourselves off buy signing players to early when better become available later in the window.
-
PLease explain. What sort of players should we be aiming for?
-
Dont say that too loudly on here. Leicester are only signing sh*t players and will struggle.

The reason this place is dying is because all the decent posters that provide a bit of humour and controversy have been or are threated with being banned. Those that are left have to rein themselves in our they'll be out too when the leaders decided to flex their muscles. The other reason is there is only room for one opinion on this forum. Unless you think that Cortese is god, Adkins is Jesus and the pair of them getting the biggest, richest club with the biggest and best squad promoted from the third tier of English football was the greatest promotion since John the fisherman became John the Baptist then you are subject to all sorts of abuse. A lot of posters on here seem to live in some little fantasy world where Saints are on an unstoppable charge to champions league glory and anyone that dares to stand up to this fantatical and unrealistic view is put in the cyber stocks with cyber rotten tomatoes hurled at them by the lynch mob on here. It's interesting to note that EVERYONE who dare to say anything remotely negative is subject to torrents of abuse from the usual suspects, stand up to it and you get tagged teamed into submission. Until people on here get a bit more realistic about where and what SFC are, a newly promoted championship club and stop dreaming of playing champions league football in front of 50,000 fans this place will never improve. It'll still be full of what could be, should be and might be and anyone who dares to question it will be hung out to dry by the cyber lynch mob on a witch hunt to destroy the infidels.

We should be looking near towards the 28k mark given our potential and catchment area. Any less will be a massive disapointment.
-
Why would they want this slow, aging journeyman who would just run around shouting at players all the time?
-
That would tie in with us being the new Barcelona. Another cracking decision from Cortese to base the averge height of our academy intake on the Barcelona First XI. Fantastic progress, we would never have done this under Lowe.
-
i never knew looking for door mouses in a field in Gloucestershire could be so sexy
-
Pot and kettle fella. Cant help yourself but have a little pop at me every now and again can you.
-
LOL, says the man who asks me to take a bet which would go against the very thing i have been saying. You should stick to statistics about how many crosses the average championship full back made last season son.
