  1. again, negative or realistic? Would Cortese stand there and say "no we are skint and have no money"? I didn't say we dont have money.
  2. Do you really think he would say there isn't and we are skint?
  3. He is a central midfielder who has played at full back rather than the other way round. So one, in the whole of world football who is a world great. I rest my case.
  4. name one full back who has been as good in central midfield as they have at full back.
  5. a lot of players in that mould though, tough, hard midfield general type. I cant think of a single full back and i dont mean a "utility" ie, no one decent position but can do an average job a few, type player that would make a decent CM player. A few that can do a job there, Jack Cork being an example, but none that i would think would be as good in CM as they are at full back or visa versa if it was a CM playing full back.
  6. More than Leeds? More than Cardiff? More than Nottingham Forest? More than Leicester? More than Ipswich?
  7. and get dinlows without a mind of their own hanging onto his every word.
  8. err, hardly a Jimmy Case style central midfielder. Next. Cue all the clowns on here listing every player to have ever played at full back and midfield. Jermaine Wright, there you go, fine example of a full back come midfield general.
  9. i can think of a few poster who will be like 5 year olds at Christmas. No doubt sleeping with their hard earned cash under the pillow in case someone breaks in and steals it during the night. It's almost upon us people, Season ticket renewal day, the day you've been waiting for since March. Enjoy....
  10. such as.......
  11. Because he is an attention seeking c*** who is Corteses yes man.
  12. You obviously have never watched Midget kick boxing then.
  13. why, has he suddenly become a central midfield enforcer after being a left back/midfielder for his entire career?
  14. Okay not a great example but you get the point. That kind of logic always makes me laugh. Surely to be a champion you have to beat the best, that is the point. There are great players in every era, Nadal and Feder are fantastic players but so were McEnroe, Borg, Samprass, Lendell, Laver etc etc. It's like saying if only Barcelona weren't so good Man United would be the best team in the world, if only Ali wasn't around then Henry Cooper would have been world champion, if only Jack Nicklaus hadn't been so good etc etc. If Murray wins no grand slams then he shouldn't be remembered as a great player, he wasn't, he should be remembered as a nearly man, which he will be, not quite up to it when it mattered. I know British people are conditioned to back the plucky loser but maybe that is the reason why we so often fail when it really matters, by winning major trophies and titles, when most people in this coutry resent success and glorious faliure often makes people more popular than actually winning something now and again.
  15. Shut up you idiot. Who was British heavy weight boxing champion in 2000? Bet you dont know but have heard of the world champion. When Andy Murray retires if he hasn't won a grand slam his major titles will have a big fat 0 in the colunm and he'll be nearly man, just like Henman. I dont recall them showing Bjorn Borgs wins at Queens 20 years after they happened.
  16. Is it just me who is getting really excited now?? Riise, Matt Upson, Scott Parker, Shay Given, all being announced tomorrow when the window opens. We are Southampton We'll sign who we want.
  17. Another example of us taking Arsenals best young players. We are massive, then are our feeder club. We give them players that we realise aren't going to cut it and rip them off. FACT.
  18. Grand Slams are the only ones that matter. It's like a boxer being world champion, no one is interested in British or European titles.
  19. He'll never leave if that's the case. The starting price for a decent young English player between premier league club seems to be £15m at the moment. Any highly rated English player automatically has at least £5m added to his price tag because of his country of birth, it's always been the case that English players are over priced. £10m for Heskey, £30m for Rio Ferdinand, £26m for Milner!!! etc etc......
  20. We should all know by now this is not the place for humour and lightheartedness. This is the place for serious football talk and liberal elitism. Rule are rule, you know what happens if you dont toe the line.
  21. I know they didn't work out but Arsenal could equally argue that they were getting the new Henry and ended up with the new new Pennant when they got Walcott. In terms of highly rated young players signing and not reaching their potential it's Saints 2 Arsenal 1. Arsenal are a feeder club for Saints. FACT.
  22. Does it feel like being told "that was the last time" by the bird you dont fancy but always end up sh*gging when ****ed up at the end of each night when you dont pull something better? We've all been there pal, just for most of us, it wasn't when we were on a football forum.
  23. You are not on my ignore list MLG, even though you are an absolute bulb people like you keep this place interesting. Lighten up people FFS, it's the internet. MLG maybe a f*cking irritanting c*nt but everyone knows he is, it's only him that ejaculates everytime he gets to correct someone on here.
  24. Err excuse me, Scott Marshall was a highly rated young centre half when we beat off competition from Preston, Luton and Brentford for his signature, he was hailed a coup. Perry Groves was signed with the Alan Shearer money for £750k, big money in those days. We took all of Arsenals best young players back then, except for Merson, Adams and the others that went onto forge decent careers, we just got unlucky i think........
  25. nothing like it at all actually.
