Indeed is true. Although i dont agree with your constant bleating for new signings during every transfer window, i would wager the the total spending of all the teams currently above us since we have been in league one is less than we spent on Lambert and Fonte. Yet we need to spend more some will say, How much more is it going to take? I have defend the team for most of this season as you well know but Wallsall was the time my patience snapped with this side. For some it is not registering how poor this result was, it's not registering that our season is going down the sh*tter because the self titled best side in league one and title challengers dont have the arseh*le to bat down teams that dare to stand up to them. How much more do we need to spend? How many more "i know we were sh*t last night but we'll be better next game" rallying calls from the players do we need? How many more "one of those nights" are we going to have? The title has as good as gone anyone that thinks we will catch Brighton is dreaming, automatic promotion is looking increasingly unlikely and i really dont believe the team has it in them to go up via the play offs, tuesday night was proof of that. The problem is, most of our fans seem to buy the excuses, seem to accept the performance and dismiss it with the usual "we lost a game, it happens" Sorry but losing 4 out of 10 games against teams fighting relegation is totally inexcusable.

Adkins: "There is scope to dip into the loan market"

a quick wideman? yes. He's played for about 20 minutes since he's been here, been injured for a large part of it, what sort of impact do you expect? -

The other one was Joe Lewis apparantly. He also said he lives next door to Joe Lewis, make of that what you will. -

That top cougars thread was quality Yeah Pat, was on the "saints will pay dearly for not buying" thread. NIck seems to have it in for Lambert and Harding at the moment, i think Dickson is better than Harding but think Lambert hasn't been as bad he says the last few months and i go to a fair few away games so dont fall into the category of fans he talks about that have a pop at him (NIck) becuse they only see players at home. -

Indeed. Below is taken from the UI site, like with most things on the internet i am not 100% sure of its accuracy but the poster is well known and respected and has been involved in proffesional football himself, make of this what you will but might explain a lot. "You have to question the way we negotiate for players, we saw it last season as well. The only success we really had has come via a panel which decides a fair price..ie Richardson / Dickson. These players are disaffected with their clubs and wanted away. We even got a taste of our negotiating tactics when trying to agree compo for Adkins. Atkins was ADVISED if he resigned there would be no compensation to haggle over. Who advised him ????? Certainly not his agent, and certainly not anyone from S****horpe. If you remember Adkins refused to do so out of respect for his old club. So it had to come from someone here at SFC. We also have the example of Matt Philips from Wycombe. After an initial approach Wycombe were infuriated at our "derisory offer". Then an improved offer was tabled, which caused the chairman of Wycombe to refuse to answer the phone to our chairman, and all discussion ended there. Now I am in a position to know exactly what those 2 offers were. £50k, then £54k! The player was sold two weeks later for £254k, plus add ons. Suggests to me whoever is advising NC how to negotiate, and how to talk to other clubs, doesn't have a clue. The only transfers that went through with any kind of smoothness, without the two clubs falling out were lambert and Fonte. Pardew negotiated the Lambert deal in it's entirety. Cortese was involved in the background of the Fonte deal, with Pardew again doing the talking. Since then, all negotiations for players has been the responsibilty of Nicola with Les Reed advising him. In fact Les Reed advised NC ion the appointment of our present manager and also advised him on the level of compo he should offer. We all remember the bitter complaints from Southend over the Barnard deal and the way they were treated. And again Gillingham refusing to speak to us over the aborted Jackson deal. Coventry City and WARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to realise what is going on"! -

He has been injured since the Carlise game i believe. -
Turkish is not happy with being second FFS. He is going to have to try harder FFS. He is going to speak about himself in the third person from now on FFS and end every sentance with FFS, FFS. :x:x:x:x

Harchester Uniteds Danny Sullivan used to go on their fans forum with the login Dragon Slayer and revealed all sorts of internal goings on at the Dragons Layer. This was after he became bitter about his injury forced him to retire. Proof is here 5 seconds in.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p7UZBeKZho

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
You can tell me when you go to places like Exeter, Walsall, Hartlepool and Dagenham and play in front of 3-4,000 fans that we belong in league one though, surely? -

You wanted L1 cover players, you got L1 cover players. As i said before, i really dont know what sort of players people expected to join a league one side as a cover player. I'm with Hypo, my definition of strengthening the squad is based around quality not quanitity. -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
It got to the point in the second half as we chased the game when it was embarasssing at times, 3 or 4 occasions a pitching wedge of a lump forward resulted in Lambert and Barnard going for the same ball, crashing into each other with neither winning it and it being cleared or being flicked on harmlessly to a defender in plenty of time and space to clear. Granted it wasn't like that for 90 minutes, first half we played some decent stuff at times but the longer the game went on and particularly after they scored the more clueless we appeared and the more we resorted to punts in the air. -
tips on this please chaps, so you lot tend to stick to one formation or mix it up a bit? I tend to go between 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3 and i cant be arsed to go all that man marking of players nonsense, although maybe this explains why i always finish midtable?

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I am too and have defend the team until now, but i getting sick of the excuses, "one of those nights" doesn't wash when the facts clearly show we have failed to beat teams we should blow away 50% of the time this season. -
THe squad is good enough, they are not performing. F*ck knows why.

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
So two wins against other teams in the drop zone, two draws against midtable sides and beaten by a team in the top two, so in fact the only team they beat that wasn't in the relegation zone was us. However people try to spin it and try and be positive this was a TERRIBLE result. -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Lets get one thing straight, we did not "create" 20 chances, we may have had 20 attempts at goal but humping balls long into the box and shooting into an overcrowded goalmouth from knock downs and deflections is not creating chances, its called percentage football. We did create chances in the first half, but if you look at the finishing, every shot was straight at the keeper, that is bad finishing. On your other point i have based my 10 games not on the "lower sector of the league" as you put it, or the bottom half, but the bottom 7, thats right, the 7 worst teams in this league, teams fighting relegation. We have dropped almost 47% of available points against teams in and around the relegation zone, battling to avoid the drop. One or two defeats are excusable, they can happen, but fail to win half your games against teams fighting relegation is totally unacceptable for a team that claims it is challenging for the title. I really dont understand how anyone can try to justify this record. We cant have had back luck, a dodgy ref etc in all of those games can we? -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Sorry, i was at the game and i dont agree that we played well. Can you remember ONE clear cut chance in the second half? I cant, i remember lots of crosses, lots of corners, lots of scrambling around trying to turn the ball in from 10 years past a goalkeeper and 6 defenders and yes, some brave and commited defending but i dont remember us carving Wallsall open and missing chance after chance. The first half was bad finishing, five times in on goal, five times the keeper pulls off routine saves, second half was desperate clueless, hopeful stuff. I'll say it again, only ONE team in the WHOLE OF THR FOOTBALL LEAGUE have lost more games at home than Wallsall this season. HOw anyone can think this defeat was acceptable is beyond me. -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Just to confirm how poor tuesday nights result was, only one team, Preston, who has lost more games at home this season in the whole of the football league than Wallsall. I am truely stunned that some people are attempting to justify this result as unlucky, one of those nights etc and even claiming we played brilliantly! -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Let me spell it out for you. This "we lost a game" nonsense is really starting to p*ss me off. We have now lost 40% of our games against the bottom 7. This includes defeats agains the mighty Wallsall, the worst home team in league one, Tranmere & bottom club Plymouth. We have failed to win half of our games against teams in the bottom 7 and dropped 14 points in 10 games against them. Do you think this is acceptable for a club which claims it is challenging for the title? And i was there tuesday, we didn't play fanstatic attacking football like you seen to be claiming, the longer the game went on the more we humped in long and hopeful, which quite often lead to Lambert and Barnard crashing into them and our "chances" in the second half, came from scrambled crosses or corners, not carving Wallsall open and missing with the goal at our mercy. -
I am being nice to everyone, especially my TSW friends like you xx

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Turkish replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Because i am getting fed up with the under performing and the excuses. There is only so far you can defend a team and a manager and i have done in the past as you well know. "it was one of those nights" is a kop out when it happens so often to us. Hartlepool was as well, so was Tranmere, so was Brentford, how many more are we going to have? Our record agains the bottom 7 is embarassing and blaming it on bad luck and crap pitches is not addressing the problem which IMO is the team lack the bottle and the motivation to fight when they are not playing on a bowling green with teams sitting off them letting them play and if that is the case then i am really starting to believe the team lacks the bottle for a promotion push.
