  1. I'd agree with you on your assessment there bessie. Dont forget Connolly as well, if he can stay fit would be a good squad player. We definitely need a bit of pace up front and feel we missed a trick with Tyson.
  2. Careful pal, only one post left. What a wierdo, using up all your posts on me. I'd be flattered if it wasn't so odd.
  3. Obsessive? Sounds like you you wierdo, commenting on pretty much every post i make. Get over it.
  4. i dont buy the Pearson was the new Ferguson which some on here do, but he inherited an awful team who were in a massive decline at a club in termoil off the pitch. I dont believe he was the miracle worker some do but under the circumstances i think he did a decent job and he certainly addressed the flaws in the team at centre half, we were much more difficult to beat under him.
  5. How do you know? How do you know there wasn't better? I dont either for a fact of course, but do you seriously believe there wasn't a good championship level centre half available on a free or low transfer fee who would want sub £10k a week? I'm not talking about a world beater, just a decent pro. Of course we brought in Christian Daily in late September when Burley had sobered up enough to realise what most fans knew, that Makin was not a centre half and Bennett belonged at Wycombe where he ended up.
  6. Lets just hope we get one of them FFS.
  7. Of course the team was weakened by the loss of Bale, Jones etc. That season midtable was more realistic, but it was blindingly obvious through the previous season and the summer we need a big strong centre half. The money was there because we spent £1m on Saganowski and Safri, and then later £1m on Andrew Davies and £14k a week contract to Euell, et Burley failed to address it, something Pearson did immediately by signing Lucketti and Chris Perry, same budget....
  8. Yet he signed Safri & Saganowski for almost £1m between them and Jason Euell on £14k a week. You cant tell me there wan't a free agent centre half available that would want half that.....
  9. Okay i stand corrected on where we were in the spending tables. Regardless, £7m is a f*ck lot of cash in 2006/07 championship. The money he had spent and the players he signed should have done better than scraping sixth place on the last day of the season.
  10. Yes he did but the we started the season with Makin and Alan Bennett as our central defensive patnership when an idiot could see not just that season but the season before we needed a comanding centre half.
  11. He signed good players, but for whatever reason they never performed consistantly as well as they should have.
  12. and spent more than any other manager that season. I was delighted when we got him, though he was a great manager. The side was good enough to go up automatically but Burley just talked all season about getting in the top 6, we scraped in when we should have at least made a good shot at top 2. Then in his following season he ignorned the fact we were crying out for a decent centre half and just signed midfielders FFS.
  13. Is probably one of the greatest quotes in football history "Dixon and Speedie will score more goals than Alan Shearer this season" Shearer got 30 odd and Dixon and Speedie got one between them. Shame, i was a big Kerry Dixon fan as a kid when he was at Chelsea, but they were awful for us. Inigo Idiakez was a big let down for me, saw him at Derby and thought he looked a quality player, was pleased when we signed him but he was awful for us. Ones from the past, Scott Marshall, highly rated centre half signed from Arsenal, after his debut was clear why he'd never played for them. Stuart Ripley, simply awful and a tossser to go with it
  14. I'd love to see Haye win, but if he does it'd going to have to be early. The longer it goes on the longer i can see Klitchko keeping him off with his jab, Haye getting frustrated and opening up and kitchko picking him off. Think it's going to be the fight of the year and hoping for a Haye win, but my money is on Klichko in the 8th.
  15. What? I dont understand, how can this be when we are the most attractive club outside of the top 4 clubs in England, can get crowds of 45,000 every week and they said man would never climb everest?
  16. Seriously you clowns, is there nothing more important in your lives than this? If you dont like the beer dont buy one, you aren't there to drink FFS.
  17. I did and he was mildy amusing i suppose, but that is just about the only thing, other than throwing one into Gwenths gash on a regular basis, that he has done which has impressed me. (although the fact that she has been taited by him ruins any chance she may have had of pulling me)
  18. Brilliant! How long did it take you to think up that? Div.
  19. There must be a lot of bland middles class main stream c*nts out there having a hell of a lot of dinner parties then.
  20. Tis true, as my mate put it, "as Bono and Chris Martin are at Glastonbury, who is looking after Africa?"
  21. The one in Huddersfield, cant remember it's name turn left after walking down to the station, was good. Good selection of decent larger and real ales. Berbeks at Orient decent.
  22. Cant stand them, Chris Martin is a cock who takes himself far too seriously and i find their music very mainstream and bland. It's no surprise so many on here will like them.
  23. Liverpools regular match going support goes all the way down to Crewe and covers north Wales as well. I know this is true because my old companies head office was in Crewe and all of them supported Liverpool and i have family in Wrexham and the vast majority of people i have met visiting them are Liverpool fans, this is a huge area, we are simply a million miles from even being close to support of clubs of this size. Forget that though we can get crowds as big as them because Eastleigh and Romsey aren't far away, Cortese is investing, our fans wont be boycotting this time and they said man would never climb everest.
  24. Dont you think it's a bit strange though, this could have been our last ever game, yet only just over half of our 45,000 regulars turned up. I'm surprised you are dobuting Mark Frys comments as well, seeing as how you take as gospel Corteses word, what makes you doubt Mark Frys credentials to speak in facts and truth?
  25. it isn't when you have 45,000 fans who are desperate to go and were being turned away in their thousands only 4 years before. Strange that these fans would rather see the club die than go to that game to watch that team play that game. And we were told every penny mattered, Mark Fry told fans to pack the stadium out.
