Don't forget we also posted. £7m loss last year. The corporate areas are empty and the pitch side advertising boards are rarely full, when in previous years they've been sold out. Are Aap3 the household name Cortese said were queuing up to sponsor us? At the moment everything is going well on the pitch but football clubs are a business these days and we seem to be struggling in some important areas.
-
It's because of that I feel it's right to raise these issues now. Not bury our head in the sand thinking everything is rosy.
-
What better offer could there be than commercial manager t SFC?!
-
In a lot of companies high staff turnover is cause for concern and looked into.
-
Bet you'd play golf with him though.

10 years at Man City says Chell wasn't. Don't forget "it's not every club that can recruit the commercial manager a Man City" I just worry we keep getting it wrong, that can be the only reason. I'm sure it's a great club to work for and Cortese is an outstanding boss.
-
We've not been recruiting a telesales monkey, these are commercial managers with great CVs and years of experience. If were getting it wrong so often maybe our recruitment policy is flawed? And it's not just salsa people, the head of catering has gone as well.
-
It was this head in the sand attitude that caused us problems last time.
-
Does it not worry you our last three commercial managers have only lasted an average of 6 months each? What would an interviewee think of that worrying statistic?
-
Curbishley is a very good manager, I hoped he'd get the job when Pardeww went, still hope he ends up at Saints one day, think we'd be good for each other.
-
I love Cortese, think he is brilliant but it does worry me. Maybe I'm paranoid after seeing us nearly go under but it worries me. It's easy to put sticky plasters ver and claim all is great on the pitch but in 2007 when we got the play offs who saw what was round the corner? commercial revenue makes up a large part of income to a club. With our attendances lower than we'd hoped they'd be we need to make this by corporate sales and one look at the corporate areas and advertising boards on a match day show that all is not well in those areas and 3 commercial managers in 18 months confirms this.
-
3 changes in 18 months? Is this really time for anyone to see their ideas put into practice? Our back office appears to be a revolving door.
-
First rule of sales Colin. People buy from people. Everyone I've known that has been successful commerically sticks around for a while and only leaves if they get offered something they can't refuse elsewhere. Luker has gone, Steedman didn't last nor as this guy. Either our recuitment policy isn't working or people, good people are leaving in their droves for another reason.
-
That's one way of looking at it, but a guy was at man City for 10 years and Luker who wa a club stalwart can't both have been kicking back taking the p*ss can they?
-
As should anyone who has the best interest of the club at heart an doesn't want to go through 2006-2009 again.
-
Clearly no understanding of business. Commercial revenue streams are huge in football these days. What goes on upstairs has a massive impact on who pulls the shirt on on a Saturday. It worries me we seem to struggle to keep out senior commercial staff, this can only be detrimental to revenue streams.
-
You have to wonder why do many senior office staff rarely last more than a year. Given how important commercial revenue is to football clubs it's a bit of a worry we seem to struggle to keep our senior staff.
-
You obviously don't read this forum very much, alot of fans seem intent on eating as much as they can in the times you mention.
-
That's one possibility. Or maybe it's not just coincidence that we've been through a few commercial managers in the last 18 months. Luker, Scott stedman or whatever his name is, Chell. Whose arrival was lauded with a "it's not every club that get the commercial manager from man city, we're going places"
-
Our big name recruit from Man City has left the club after less than six months. You may recall he was the man who was previously the commercial manager at Man City and many fans were excited by his arrival. Interesting that he was in charge of ticketing and leaves around the same time as the bar code scanners are announced. Our head of catering has also left, went in January. Couple of major departures there, let's hope Cortese can find high quality replacements to continue our progress.

such as?

You're forgetting you're not a real fan unless you wear the full kit to games.
