EDL 10,000 People March (Oh Ok then maybe just a 1000)
Turkish replied to Gemmel's topic in The Lounge
Oh no, i get it. I just find it amazing that people can roundly condem the EDL for standing up for what they believe in, yet at the same time, giving the cyber round of applause to dear old Elton for his statement, whilst at the same time preaching equal rights. Dont forget we had people calling jesus and the apostles "knuckle draggers" on one thread for writing the bible and the beliefs of christianity. Who decides what we should and shouldn't tolerate anyway? -
i bet she does! Why are you making up having a girlfriend anyway Jamie? Last time we spoke about women you'd just been dumped. if you do have one surely you haven't been with a bird long enough to spend £1k on a pair of shoes. If you do you are a bigger mug than you appear on here.

because some people will believe anything if it fits with their agenda.

EDL 10,000 People March (Oh Ok then maybe just a 1000)

They are allowed to be, we live in a tolerant society where anything goes. -
It seems to work as you are all talking about them. Although strangely in a condeming way. I'd have thought you'd be throwing around the superlatives at the effective way they are making themselves known in this tolerant society you have longed for.
-
People cant have it both ways, in a tolerant society it would be hypocritical to condemn the EDL for marching for their beliefs.
-
As i said on the other the thread. You lot are liberal, you want a tolerant society, you helped create it. The EDL are only standing up and marching for their beliefs. Give the society you want they should be applauded. Or is it a case of they can only march if it is for what you want them to believe in?

EDL 10,000 People March (Oh Ok then maybe just a 1000)

Why? As TDD says they are standing up for their beliefs. You lot are liberal, you should be delighted by it. -
nah, you're cramping my style.
-
what you hijacking every post with your sh*t? Nah, its only the internet, some people take it too seriously.
-
Oh we are overun with them telling us what they think of the EDL, however they are only excercising their rights. If we are as tolarent as we like to think we are then we should listen to their voice and applaud them without condemation.

I dont see what your problem is. You lot are tolerant, you wanted this sort of society, the EDL have as much right to take to the streets and demostrate as gays, students, religious groups, industrial unions etc. You wanted this society and you helped create it. So stop getting yourselves at it and applaud them taking advantage of the rights you have allowed them. -
And who decides how much is too much? Who decides when it is correct to be tolerant? AS TDD says do the liberals respect the EDL right for freedom of speech? and the BNP for that matter.

this.

I find it amusing that this liberal types who are all for live and let live are quick to critise anyone that doesn't agree with their way of thinking. It seems you can only "live and let live" if they way you want to live your life confirms to their beliefs, making their liberal beliefs worthless.
-
You asked me a question and i answered it, not making a point. As i said it depends on what you mean by moving on. Would you rather live in a safer society with less crime but was less tolerant of certain types or a tolerant society where crime is rife? As society has become more tolerant it has also become more violent, more criminal, people have become more selfish and materialistic, is this just coincidence? Who knows, but it may have something to so with it.
-
Lets hope you are right, however i am of the view that people that engage in this sort of behaviour should be subject to the toughest possible sentances, in some cases i'd even bring back the death penalty. I've noticed a definiate weakening from the courts towards this sort of offence over the past 5 years or so. It seems that the current view is they dont need prison, they need help for their problems, which is criminal in itself.

If you speak to the older generation, grandparents etc, many still have a view that homosexuality is disgusting, in the same way that every right minded person thinks this about peadophillia today. There is no way on earth that 70 years ago people would accept that homosexuality be not only legalised, but fashionable, in every paper magazine and tv programme and gay people will be adopting and raising children. I think you are missing the point, i am not saying they are similar, or homosexuals are like peadophiles, of course they aren't but the fact is that the views of society on them were similar, albeit a couple of generations apart.

far from it, this place is always a good place to come to cheer you up, makes you realise how many wierdos there are out there.
-
Depends on your definition of "moving on" our society is more tolerant these days, (as long as you agree with the mainstream) no bad thing. On the negaitive side however there is more crime, violence, teenage pregenancy, drug abuse, family and marriage breakdown etc. If that is "moving on" then i suppose it has. Anyway, what are you going to be doing 25th of December this year? Have you volenteered to work over easter bank holiday as you wont be celebrating it this year?
-
Thanks, but i already know this.
-
and you dismissed it the mutters of knuckle draggers. If society has moved on are you going to be throwing away the christmas tree this year? Or are you going to be a hypocrite and join in the celebration of the festival of the birth of christianity?
-
So the bits that suit you then?
-
Not anymore they aren't they used to be, when people were more religious, but you brought up the bible. Christmas and easter celebrates the birth and death of the the king of "knuckle draggers" Surely it would be hypocritical of you to celebrate it given your last comment?
