What people are saying is they should conform to what modern society dictates as normal. They should throw away hundreds if not thousands of years of gypsy tradition and culture because some people are too narrowminded and intolerant to accept their way of life. I expect those that think this also expect Jews, Mulsims and believers in other faiths to become church of England if they live here.

And to answer your question, i have significant experience of travellers. I boxed with them at boxing clubs in Hampshire, on several occasions they have pitched up near my house. I've never felt the need to put extra locks on my shed, i've never been affected by "thieving scum who should go back to where they came from" Now a final question for you, if a family of Africans moved in next door, would you bake them a cake and intive them into your house to help themselves to your food/warmth etc...? Or would you put extra locks on your shed and keep more of a watchful eye on your property?
