  1. Good point. I remember the Man U game because I remember a number of people who rarely if ever go asking me to get tickets or them and how excited they were about the Man U game. I dont remember any of that for the Wallsall game. The way I would suggest who is a plastic and who isn't are the ones that turn out when times are bad. The 24,000 or so that turned out for the Burnley game when the club was on it's knees and needed every penny it could get. I don't recall too many people begging for tickets for that one or not being able to sleep due to excitement. It's easy to be a fan when times are good or when big clubs roll into town. Not so good when you are going expecting to lose. That's the Mark of a clubs real fan base.
  2. People that complain about the cost. I understand not everyone can afford or wants a season ticket. But take last February as an example. Man United at home in the cup, attendance 28k. That same day we would have had Charlton at home in the league if we'd lost in a previous round of the cup. We'd have had around 20k there for that one. Okay there were probably about 2-3000 more away fans but it meant that about 5000 extra "saints fans" found the money laying down the back of the sofa, so it wasnt a case of people not being able to afford to go on that day on the year. A ticket that was actually more expensive than a normal. One. So who were people there to watch?
  3. My issue is if people are Saints "fans" they go to watch and support Saints, it shouldn't matter who the opposition are. Some people only seem interested in going if the opposition is attractive. Why? As a Saints fan i'm not there to watch the other team.
  4. As a wise man once told me, "you're nothing unless you take it away"
  5. Just out of interest who used to say "i'm going down/up the Dell saturday"?? I used to, these days i just say "i'm going to football"
  6. I had you down as many things The9 but a racist wasn't one of them.
  7. It sounds great. It would also tie in nicely with the "Cortese the Redeemer" Statue they are planning to build on Weston Shore with it overlooking Southampton.
  8. Sorry, you're right. i'm forgetting we are the new Barcelona on the pitch and the new Millwall off it. Talking of the "we're coming for you" song, considering the 1,000s that sing it every week, the ballot application must be close to 10,000 by now.
  9. They could sponsor FC Saints of Southampton. Which is being set up by fans disalusioned with paying £1 to park at SMS.
  10. Considering how f*cking MASSIVE we are and how big our catchment area is, the only acceptable names are as follows. The Apple Stadium The Microsoft Stadium Although with Fawley Power station on our doorstep if we wanted to improve relations with local business The Shell Stadium The Exon Mobil Stadium The BP Stadium Would also be acceptable. Anything less is a lack of ambition.
  11. Considering people are openly talking about it on here and the OB and club read this site, i would suggest even if they weren't they will be now.
  12. Anyone who thinks it'll be a walk over it mental.

  14. Oh please, do us a favour. The 1984 team contained the best goalkeeper in the world, the best young striker in England, a former England captain, an England international centre half, the best left back never to play for England and finished second to the Liverpool side which was easily the best team in Europe and one of the best sides England has ever produced. To say that the team that has just come out of the 3rd tier of English football and is top of the championship after 15 games is even close to that is just plain mental.

With great power goes great responsibility Colin. You need to start taking your position more seriously and stop upsetting us customers or Baj will cull you.
  21. I'll surprise you and wear it at a game this season, look out for me, i'll be the nutty chap laughing with everyone.
  22. I love getting fancy dressed up at football, there is nothing quite like it. Away from the internet i'm quite a dull and bland person really who struggles to engage in meaningful conversations with people. Getting dressed in hilarious outfits is a good way to show everyone that i am a little bit, well mad and not as boring as i look and really do know how to have fun. I've got loads of brilliant outfits that show how crazy i am. As well as the standard face paints, jester hats and/or wig for games together with my giant foam hands i've got loads of other truely MENTAL costumes for special occasions. I've gone to games in the past dressed in many nutty outfits, probably the one i had the biggest laugh in though was a red gimp suit i wore to Peterborough away last season and a similar one to the Pompey home game in the cup last year. That really drew attention to myself with everyone seeing how mad i am. The whole day was one long LOLathon.
  23. As i said on another thread i am a convert to his way of thinking. On my recent holiday the fans staying in our hotel i was aware of was as follows Man United 3 Man city 2 Saints 2 Chelsea 1 Norwich 1 Everton 1 Arsenal 1 Spurs 1 Proof that we have twice as many fans as Chelsea and Arsenal and are closing in on Man United. Gods knows what we could achieve in the premier league with greater exposure. Add these stats to the compelling evidence that Chelsea got 13k in 1982.Sunderland only got 20,000 at Roker Park. Fulham get 25k despite being near Chelsea. We've got a massive catchment area which has some imaginary line running fromlondon, through Birmingham to Liverpool it which means everyone from Kent to North Wales, Inc Cardiff and Bristol are potential Saints fans because there is no premier league club in that area. (excluding Swansea now I guess?) something about thousands of day trippers coming up from Devon and Cornwall to see premier league football. Being on an unstoppable march to the premier league with our academy graduate team. Yep all that evidence means that we need to expand quickly. 50k isn't enough we are the new Barcelona, 100k. Anything less is a lack of ambition. It's entirely possible. Afterall Didnt they say man would never walk on the moon.
  24. I do love all this talk of Corteses vision. Lowe had a vision as well, develop the youth team, employ upcoming British managers. It's not that dissimilar, the only difference is Lowe had shareholders to pay a dividend to every year. Lowe got it wrong, Cortese has got it right, so far. But we can all "have a vision" what is really needed is north of 300 million quid burning a whole in your pocket to make it happen. Does Cortese? Who knows, one thing is for sure, it takes more than a vision to make it reality.
