  1. err no professor it is not an assumption, it was in saturdays echo, those were Pardews words. It was not on the echo website though before you start busily and angrily tapping away in an attempt to check if i am correct or not. However, it also says here that Carter decided to return to PNE and HE decided he did not have a future at Saints, stop making assumptions that my posts aren't based on facts to suit your own preconcieved ideas. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/8312186.Saints_trialist_Carter_joins_Millwall/
  2. Lambert had the choice of Bristol Rovers, consistant L1 club in a small ground or Southampton, big fish in a small pond, lots of money now and on the way up, building a squad that should win promtion this season, to the CCC. Strikers cost money, he may have got a lot more cash but it was also a good career move for him Bailey had the choice of Southampton L1 club, on the way up but premier league club in at absolute best two years or in reality 3-4 years, or Middlesborough, solid club, decent manager ,realtive wealth and should get promoted, premier league football in one year. If you seriously believe we can sign who we want, including anyone that doesn't want to play in the champions league then you are an idiot. Why do you think Danns, bailey and Carter turned us down? And yes i do want players who want to be here, otherwise we end up with underperforming w*nkers like Mark Hughes, Stuart Ripley etc, remember them? They weren't cheap and did f*ck all for us. Give me 11 players who play for SFC not the ££££ everyday of the week, i'd rather have that that a team full of Ashley Cole and Adebeyors.
  3. Pardew said in his interview the other day he has gone back to Preston so no decision to be made, sounds like the player decided he didn't want us, not the other way round. Yet more p*ss on the 'we can sign whoever we want' brigades bonfire.
  4. I cant be arsed to look to be honest, its not me thats saying we have a crisis on our hands. I am quite happy with the squad, wouldn't mind another 2 or 3 players like the rest of us not but not slashing my wrists over it.
  5. Paste the comments, then, i am sure everyone wants to see your grand plan to ease our 'crisis.
  6. Where? I dont remember this. So you present all these moans and complaints but are not prepared or able to back up your view with anything tangible, is that not the case?
  7. What do you think then? That we, as a third tier club, should have a squad of how many players and Of what standard should they be? You seem to present all of the complaints, critisims and questions but none of the answers.
  8. Err no, you seem to think that as a league one club we can have a squad of 50 all of the same standard which are all capable of playing at a higher level I wouldn't say you have mentalities 180 degrees apart, you are just deluded.
  9. Mills was deemed good enough to play regularly for S****horpe in their promotion season from this league and Dickson showed on saturday he is more than capable at LM, this against CCC oposition, hardly 'low-grade players'
  10. And you cristise others for not reading your posts properly. Where is that saying we dont need it all? in fact on other threads i have said we do. The point was that and this goes for 'cover' for Lallana as well is that signing players as good or better than we have in these positions are likely going to have to come from the CCC, how easy is it going to be to persuade a player of the quality we need to not only drop down a league but also not be guarenteed a start? Rather than twisting posts to suit your agenda why dont you answer the question?
  11. I want players that are here because they want to play for Southampton FC and want to be part of the project and are here the the long haul, not because we offered them an extra couple of grand a week. I would question the motives of any player who turned down a move to a club that is in a better position than us. By that i dont mean in the CCC, but like Bailey, who chose Middlesborough over us as it is quite obvious he has a better chance of premier league football quicker with them than us.
  12. and Holmes, it is a crisis because we only have 4 players who can play in that position, we really need 8 just in case the other 7 are injured.
  13. Why because Lallana is still injured? So we are in the same position as we were two days ago. What with our central midfield crisis too we might as well write the season off and forget it.
  14. I lived up north before the days of internet hysteria. What you did was talk to your mates and family back home, watch MOTD, watch them away when you could, at home when you could and not panic and over analyse every tiny little detail of every team selection, player or manager interview, signing or non signing etc. There was club call though, which i got a verbal warning for ringing 8 times in one day on the company phones when we signed Kevin Davies.
  15. because he is obviosuly picking the team now FFS.
  16. LGTC, Boro are to the CCC what we are to L1, favourites to go up. Bailey is 26, next year he could and will be playing premier league football assuming everything goes to plan for boro. If he joined us he would have to wait a MINIMUM of 2 years for PL football, Realsitically he has 4 years left at the top of his game so will want to play at as a high a level possible. Any player worth their salt would chose them over us otherwise the only reason they would have come here is for the money, thats assuming your theory that we offer everyone stupid money to come here. It would be different if Bailey was 20 and had his career ahead of him, but he is half way through it already. It is nothing to do with how much the chairman is worth, wage demands, it is simply the fact that at the moment CCC favourites Middlesborough are a more attractive proposition to join the L1 Southampton and the same goes for any player in his position, people need to get realistic.
  17. Of course it does. You can never have to strong a squad, too good a team, always be looking to improve. But the panic on here because he haven't signed players of the standard we think we should have in the positions we think we need yet is ridiculous. The most ludicrious coment i saw today was that we can sign anyone we want we want except those that have international or champions league ambitions and these players are falling over themselves to join us. Some People need a dose of reality we are in L1, player for player probably the best XI in league one, which is why improving on it aint going to be easy.
  18. 100% agree. In fact f*ck it, you've just won most sensible post of the the day.
  19. Well in that case then why are people panicking as we only want 2-3 players, it doesn't matter if we sign them 31st of May or the 31st of August.
  20. And of course then if they dont play like Pele every game they'll be accused of only being here for the money.
  21. Danns and Bailey weren't. Middlesbrough are one of the favourites to go up, Bailey could be playing PL football in a year, with us he'd have to wait two years absolute minimum, he is 26 now, probably only got another 4 years left at the very top of his game, if i were him i know where i would go. You seem to think that our market is players outside champions league or international standard, surely this is a wind up? We are a LEAGUE ONE CLUB FFS! Lets have a dose of reality!
  22. I absolutely agree but all people bang on about is 'cover' and that is the point, finding a player better or as good as Hammond and MS, both IMO capable of and have played at a higher level, to drop down a league is not going to be easy. People seem to think players are queuing up to get here, but we failed with bids for Danns & Bailey, people need a dose of reality, we are league one club a big league one club with bit of cash yes, but top quality players are not falling over themselves to join us, so improving on what we have is not going to be as easy as it is on CM10.
  23. Where did i saw we were? I said a player of similar ability, ie a central midfield player capable of playing at a higher level.
  24. NO, we will see over the next 46 league games, nothing will be won or lost on saturday.
  25. No, no Alps, AP Has done nothing, or at best half arsed, you said so yourself earlier.
