All true, they were more established. Just seems a bit odd that 3 x Europa League wins wouldn't get you a better job than Southampton. Is the PL that much of a draw that he would give up CL football for a team that probably has reached their glass ceiling and just lost their Manager to a team who finished with about 15 fewer points the year before? Saints is a good job, but is it *that* good?
-
Nowhere. Just says we are interested along with Emery.
-
At this stage Koeman is on a different level to Howe as a Manager. Howe has potential but would be a risk, even more so if the squad were to be at all unsettled over the summer.

Makes perfect sense - I do find it odd that a Manager with the recent success he has had in European competition and also relatively in La Liga would consider any of us, Everton and West Ham as a step up (or even a sideways move). Would seem a backward step to me aside from the idea of proving himself in the PL - and that didnt stop the likes of Mourinho, Pellegrini, Ancelotti, Mancini etc from getting top PL jobs in the past here.

Howe is an intriguing one. He has done really well with Bournemouth but wasn't successful at Burnley. He has no real experience of dealing with Intl (and some big name) players and his backroom team is quite weak (can't imagine Reed being overly keen on us bringing Jason Tindall in). Also feel he may find it hard to replace the charisma of Koeman, especially at first. That said, his temperament, commitment to passing football and age/profile as a coach is quite a good fit for Saints. I think it might be a little too soon for him and he may feel he has a bit more to get out of Bournemouth before thinking what to do next. Also he is so connected to the Club emotionally over a long timeperiod and he may feel it would ruin his legacy to leave for what they perceive as a local rival. Interested to see howe this develops.

FdB, Emery and any other good European coach.

Agree. Moyes would be a backward step. For that reason I doubt he will be picked. Only real bonus with him (from clubs point of view) is he is out of work. The time of dour Scottish Managers has been and gone. -
Much like we would have said re Koeman. Although agree it does seem a step down for Emery to consider us but maybe the PL negates that somewhat. Its the place to be it would appear.
-
I'm sure Koeman had nothing to do with us signing Pelle, Tadic, VVD and Clasie. Jeez, whatever ****ty way he has left give him some credit, he did a fantastic job. We move on, but no need to rewrite history.
-
After Koeman and Pochettino he would be very uninspiring. Good Manager but not for Saints IMO. The other three worth exploring with Emery clear favourite. Howe and AVB interesting but both have iffy aspects.
-
Bertrand does have 3 years left on his contract though. I am sure if Stones left Everton that RK would think about VVD but it would cost them close to £40m I would think so wouldn't be that worried. Maybe Tadic might extend his contract which would please everyone apart from Duncan the Historian lad.

Wish you hadn't mentioned Moyes!

Hey Bizzaro, I think its good. Best Wishes.

@Kia_NUFC: Wijnaldum scores for Netherlands with Everton and Southampton scouts in attendance. https://t.co/FFpeLhd9nu

Keith Hill has done well at Rochdale but its probably too big a step for him.
-
Yes, would be a good fit. This says he is in talks with PSG: http://goo.gl/gDKBmG He may fancy a PL move and maybe would need a club before one of the top jobs but if we think Koeman to Everton is a step down or sideways then Emery to Saints would easily be as strange if not more I think. Here's hoping but equally believe Howe could do well here. Ironically he might be harder to persuade.
-
Who do you think is better: Pelle or Austin? I would say Pelle and personally wouldn't want to lose him to a competitor if at all.
-
Fair play if Emery is interested. The PL must be a big draw even outside of the big sides given he has some great achivements with a good team in Spain. Wallace himself must have rued the timing of the other article!

Which bit was so terrible then?

We will do very well to better 6th without new investment.
-
Agent and Everton also have to be careful they don't get accused of tapping up and having agreed a deal in advance of the Clubs (even though they clearly have).
-
At a smallish club it definitely helps if the Manager is liked by the media. Shouldn't be so, but it is. The type of stick AVB would get, the likes of De Boer would not. Thats why Koeman was a great appointment because he stemmed the flow of negativity and was/is well respected by the media.
-
They have definitely identified well what was needed each time so sure they will do so again. The type of Manager and strengths/attributes has been quite different in each appointment due to the need at the time so will be interesting to see what they most value this time around.
