  1. He is definitely still young, amazing really that he has that experience for a Manager under 40. Still not sure what makes him especially well suited to us though beyond his age. At the end of the day he has been sacked quite early into his tenure both times he has managed in England, which whilst it happens is a bit of a concern and he has said himself he didn't have a good time in England. It could be better the next time but there isn't much I've seen to suggest his Chelsea and Spurs experiences (especially Spurs) were the exception and that doing well (at big teams in poor leagues) is the norm. If Everton had gone for AVB last week very few on here would have talked it up as a great appointment.
  2. You brought up trophies in the screenshot as a reason he would be an attractive proposition!
  3. Not really bothered about trophies won though because we arent going to be winning a PL and at those type of clubs in those leagues trophies are a given. Adkins would win domestic trophies with Porto or Zenit most likely. Its the character and approach of AVB that I am not sure of from his time in England. The media savaged him and fans of Chelsea and Spurs didn't like him. Certainly due in part to circumstances at Chelsea especially but worth considering when forming a judgement. Has never stayed anywhere very long either.
  4. AVB won stuff at Porto and Zenit, bith big teams that always dominate the leagues they are in. Would expect trophies every year at those clubs. He just always came across as a bit of an aloof character in the PL. Not saying he isnt worth considering, just doesn't immediately seem ideal for us IMO, mostly based on character and his handling of/image in the media, which is quite important I think. Immediately when Koeman joined we got less stick in the media because he was liked and respected.
  5. Junizovic is a midfielder I think? Wouldn't be worried at all.
  6. What do people see as the attraction with AVB? I think he would be quite a risk. Hasnt been very popular at his other two PL clubs, can rub the media up the wrong way too, plus a bit of a rep for dull football despite getting quite a few points at Spurs the one season. If he wasn't foreign I wonder if people would be as keen. The best thing about Koeman was his calm persona and character and I don't personally see AVB as being in that mould.
  7. Agree Emery will be out of our league. Not sureif Pellegrini would be interested, he may be as he wants to stay in England. Howe will be in the thoughts you would think but Moyes and Hughes aren't really our style and not sure Hughes would see us a worthwhile step up from Stoke aside from us being in the EL.
  8. Also shows how Wanyama will be a bargain for whoever gets him for about £12m and that any £40m or so valuation of Mane is absolutely fair.
  9. Not sure one is needed at this stage. Koeman to Everton will be announced soon and then we see what happens next.
  10. Absurd tackle. A bit like this one. What the hell was he thinking?
  11. Sounds like they will have different (more expensive) targets. Besides why would we sign anyone before allowing our new Manager to have a say on it?
  12. Of course it could. But you would rather have more money to spend than less. They won't pay Koeman a fortune and promise big funds and then sign a load of middling players, they obviously want to improve quickly. Fair play to them, no guarentee of success but they will probably be better than they have the last few years.
  13. Isn't it almost the same thing. Not saying Saints aren't "ambitious" but if Everton are going to pay Koeman a lot of money then it indicates they will also look to pay good players a lot of money to join them. Which is basically showing ambition rather than talking about it.
  14. Zero chance. We just had our Manager poached by Everton, we are hardly going to be taking the likes of Tuchel or Emery from established European clubs.
  15. He will do well because he is a good Manager as we know as well as anyone. Just like anyone sane knew Pochettino would do well for Spurs.
  16. Moyes would be awful but pretty sure we won't go there.
  17. 1. Surely speculation is what the forum is for? 2. If you read the post you will find I said what was written in The Sun won't happen IMO. 3. Its not a doom post whatsoever. It suggests there will be a relatively minor impact. Read it first before using the usual stereotypes.
  18. Would definitely prefer De Boer to AVB.
  19. Did you even read the post?
  20. Reed getting a bashing on Solent.
  21. Play the post not the poster or at least highlight the specifics you feel are negative. You won't find any that aren't valid, considered, balanced points.
  22. No chance of Emery IMO. He has Champions League football and far better, richer, more ambitious teams will be following him.
  23. I don't think you have read the post. It isn't negative at all.
  24. Would Koeman leaving have any impact on others? Quite a few of the players in the squad have signed during Koeman's tenure but these days players are used to the short tenure of Managers so it is probably water off a ducks back for most, except for any who had a particularly good relationship with him. We will get the usual, tired exodus reports like in The Sun today, but whilst we aren't now set for the "stable" summer Les Reed spoke of in the ill fated end of season interview, it seems unlikely that will happen unless they made a woeful appointment which again seems very unlikely. Assuming generally there won't be a huge impact, here are a few potentially interesting situations: Dave Watson - brought in by Reed and hugely influential in Forster coming here (and potentially staying?). Could Koeman try and tempt him to Goodison and would any new Manager here be happy to inherit a member of staff rather than bring his own? Koeman gave Watson quite a lot of responsibility on set plays and other details that a GK coach usually wouldn't be involved in so hopefully the new Manager doesn't scale back his involvement too much. VVD - at the point he signed his new deal he presumably was told by the Club and Koeman that he (RK) would be here next season so potentially could feel a bit aggrieved if he is even bothered about it at all. (Not that contracts mean much as Vardy situation is showing). Fonte/S. Davis - They have been through the Pochettino departure and that summers events and been quite clear that it was a difficult time and they questioned then Club until RK came in. Could they be a bit tired of all the change and repetition of it all? Both have recently stated how key it was to tie Koeman down although must trust the Club. Otherwise the likes of Wanyama (who could interest Everton), Mane and Pelle were likely off anyway and nobody else aside from Bertrand, Long & Tadic is probably good enough to attract attention from anyone better than us in the unlikely event of being unsettled. As an aside, hopefully we deal with Everton in the same way we did with Spurs i.e not selling anyone to them.
