His performance yesterday ranks among the worst I've ever seen by a Southampton centre half - and there have been some bad ones. Roy needs to have a firm word in his future son-in law's ear about being combatant, committed and putting your body on the line for the cause.
-
Tells us all we need to know about Baz.
-
Have you considered Mr Hockey might have thrown the envelope down in disgust at the end of the game?
-
Yeah, just watched it again and I'm still convinced the scorer is offside the moment the ball is headed.
-
Better not watch another game until he's left the club then.
-
Look at the highlights. I've watched it a few times and freeze framed the moment their guy heads the ball and the scorer is clearly in an offside position - it's not even marginal.
-
Sink or swim time 🙂

Macca Jelert Wood Quarshie Manning Charles Matsuki Robinson Aribo Edozie Stewart Probably get hammered but let's give these guys some game time and see if any of them do enough to deserve a spot in the side against Boro - if the two centre backs can't better THB's performance yesterday they may as well give up the game.
-
Maybe time to give them their chance against Liverpool - let's see what they have to offer. I imagine we might see these two plus McCarthy, Edwards or Wood, Quarshie, Robinson, Matsuki and Stewart.
-
Agree but not sure how the lino missed the offside.
-
On an awful pitch we did have some good moments but not enough. All 3 Hull goals were a joke - first one is offside to compound Bazunu's mistake, second is a sloppy pass from THB then zero recovery defending and the third is a cheap free kick given away by THB which is swung in with Azaz of all people seemingly designated to mark McBurnie which only ends one way. THB was a disgrace and certainly needs dropping. With Downs we've signed yet another powder puff player.
-
Not an excuse but the first Hull goal is clearly offside. If you freeze play at the moment the Hull guy heads the ball the player who scores is quite clearly ahead of our two defenders. VAR would have ruled that out.
-
Time to bring in Quarshie for me - hopefully he gets a start against Liverpool so let's see how he copes against Isaac 🙂

A single new player tends to take quite a few games before settling and demonstrating his true form. Will Still is trying to juggle introducing 5-6 new guys at the same time and blending them with others who suffered the trauma of last season so no easy task. Add in the fact that he is saddled with a goalkeeper who continues to make schoolboy errors and it is perhaps not surprising that things have yet to click into place. I was initially very angry about yesterday and the Pompey game but maybe there are mitigating circumstances in which case he needs more time and, to be fair, he's never said any different himself.
-
Well I can't disagree that we need new owners because SR has been a disaster from day one.
-
After my initial anger at the last two inept performances has abated I tend to agree - give him more time. Personally I'm not desperate for us to bounce straight back up to the Premier League as we wouldn't be ready. If Will Still can steady the ship and get us playing some decent football with plenty of wins/draws and we look to be progressing in the right direction let him carry on. However, if nothing changes within say the next 10 games it will be time to admit he's not the guy for us. I think gradual build is the way to go with the overall aim to have a side ready to have another shot at PL football within 3 seasons.

Regards Edwards a QPR fan was on here saying he was poor for them first match but improved game by game until he was superb - said he'd love to take him back. Maybe he just needs a run of games.
-
Yeah, he'll have Isaac in his pocket 🙂
-
Throw in that he immediately recognises that Baz isn't a goalkeeper and he'll be perfect.
-
Needs a Sunday lunch sat opposite his future father-in-law being told exactly how limited he looks against only average opponents. Roy should tell him to cut out the billy big bollocks attitude and start doing the basics.
-
If only our players knew this was a thing or were coached to know how to do it.
-
Nobody expects to see total football after six games but I think we are entitled to see signs of progress and a move in the right direction.
-
Where on earth is our high press? Where is the fast transition? Where is the pass and move, find space and play between the opposition lines. All basics that we are just not doing. There is no defined shape and no clear indication of what, if anything, we are trying to do. Surely football is not that complicated. We look like a panic stricken bunch that have never played the game before and are just thrown on the pitch to make it up as we go along. There has to be a structure, a plan, a formation where every player knows his job and performs it in at least a semi proficient manner. We've just spent a week training at Staplewood following the Pompey debacle only to look even worse. There must be at least one coach at the football club who knows what he's doing. Then factor in a goalkeeper who today gifts our opponents their crucial opening goal not for the first time and we know it will happen again. He's not helped by defenders who are weak and mark fresh air. Where are the green shoots of recovery?
-
Agree, these guys are paid absolute fortunes and need to start earning their money.

I have to admit I was quite excited and hopeful when we appointed Will Still. Here was a young manager with a totally different career path than the norm and somebody who appeared to have a refreshing new opinion on how the game should be played and who had done well at his previous clubs. So far it's been a complete disappointment. Along with others I do not have a clue what our formation is or what we are trying to do as there just seems no pattern or shape to our play. We seem to get worse rather than better and I'm not sure where he goes from here or whether he has the slightest clue how to improve the shit show we are watching.
