  1. Love comment 29....... SteveW1 Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 12:16 PM Just heard through the grapevine that Cowplain FC have just gone into administration due to Storrie demanding a £3k win bonus!...lol...PUP
  2. Neatly side stepping the issue that they have played 2 more games than us
  3. Report from the local Midlands paper http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/walsall-fc/2011/03/01/walsall-1-southampton-0/ Does not sound like an excuse for wrist slitting to me, but I am stuck in Aberdeen tonight rather than being at the match. BTW Matt Le Tiss is hosting a dinner at one of the local Hilton's here tomorrow, and I am flying back home in the afternoon. In all the wrong places this week. Look forward to hearing from those at the game.
  4. Indeed, Hammond is not Championship quality, Lee Bowyer is free at the end of the season, a one year deal for him would do nicely.
  5. Very sad, RIP Dean a gentleman as player, and a person
  6. Legend has it that Terry Paine gave one keeper "a knock" in training many years ago, and the goalie never appeared again!
  7. Nothing on the Bradford City site yet, he recently gave an interview talking about his coaching there http://www.oleolefootball.com/Football-dean_richards_loving_coaching-125.htm
  8. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/25/plymouth-argyle-adminstration Bit about P****y at the bottom of this. Mainly a report of the meeting mentioned earlier in this thread. Mind you the Argyle bit is interesting!
  9. http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/sport/8874580.SWINDON_TOWN__Southampton_will_be_wary_of_us__says_Wilson/ Danny Wilson says that "Southampton will be wary of us".................. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/8875294.Swindon_boss_claims_pressure_is_on_Southampton/ And he says the pressure is on us.......
  10. And their new manager (his neighbour) is waiting in the (jail) wings to take charge no doubt
  11. Local report on the match http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/8869141.Hartlepool_0_Southampton_0/
  12. I am away at the moment, but he tells me he had an e-mail
  13. My son has had his place confirmed
  14. Execeter score again
  15. I remember early comparisons between Matt and Steve Williams. I always liked him as a player, he kept possession of the ball better than most, but others around me in the crowd would criticise him for passing the ball sideways too often. I remember one of his early games at the Dell, I think he may have come on as an early substitute against a star studded Middlesbrough. He ran the game up against Juninho.
  16. I cannot believe no body has mentioned on this page what a jumbo thread this has become
  17. http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/carlisle-united/latest/oldham-will-be-harder-test-than-southampton-claims-carlisle-utd-boss-1.808926?referrerPath=home The Carlisle boss thinks that Oldham will be harder than "big spending" Saints
  18. I would still argue that it was not the case that he didn't understand the offside law, just that he made runs before most of our players spotted him. You also have to factor in the standard of the assistants, they look up see a man behind the defence and flag, it happens more than once in each game that players are not offside when the ball was played. We have had many players over the years who have suffered from that such as Rodney Wallace Anyway, he put a smile on the faces of most supporters
  19. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/15/football-transfer-rumours-neymar-chelsea Love the bit about 'arry! In the Daily Mail Spurs will not "stand in Harry Redknapp's way" if the FA wants him to succeed Fabio Capello when the Italian finally dies of boredom shortly after Euro 2012. The best bit comes right at the end of the Mail's EXCLUSIVE. "At the moment, however, the main obstacle for Redknapp and England centres on [his] summer [High court] trial. The tax evasion charge carries the threat of a custodial sentence and, were Redknapp to be found guilty, any punishment could seriously harm his chances of an FA appointment." Quite right. Jailed Redknapp vows to carry on as England boss. Behind bars England supremo Harry Redknapp last night hailed his "on-the-TV-until-lights-out-by-the-guvnah" England aces. And so on.
  20. http://www.spectator.co.uk/essays/all/6685298/councils-of-despair.thtml Here are a few more examples of selective cuts......................
  21. I am a founder member of the group that is not a fan of Hammond but I have to admit he was my MoM today, the best performance I have seen from him in a Saints shirt. Today he found the space to receive the ball and actually wanted to receive the ball, and his pass completion was 100% better than normal. Hats off, let us hope he keeps it up.
  22. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/11/christian-purslow-nesv-liverpool-bid There is a court case going on about the recent Liverpool takeover I love this quote from one of the directors........ "There is no extra money on the table to enable short-term investment in what remains a squad palpably needing more quality if we are to be definitively top four. New American sport team owners with the senior guy being a hedge fund manager could not be worst [sic] from an image standpoint, which is an issue for us independents. I have not even talked about valuation. I leave that to other members of the board. So what is positive? Answer, they exist. Which is not a lot, but it is not to be underestimated in importance." I wonder if he was referring to another recent Premiership takeover?
  23. All the best to both lads
  24. Good appraisal of the meeting. Signed my son up, deposit on the way.
  25. If we get rid of Lambert to Newcastle for a profit it would make it a great window, assuming AOC stays, what with a new deal for AL, signing of Guly and Chaplow. It is not that I don't like Lambert, but he will struggle in the Championship, let alone the Premiership
