Arrived in Cape Town yesterday and went down to the waterfront to watch the game. Stood in the fan zone next to Brian Hunt and his wife! We were sporting our new Saints/England gear, and Mrs Hunt spotted our shirts and called us over to share a space near them! They had dinner with Terry Paine a few nights earlier. What a lovely couple. A great afternoon.

I hear from the Plymouth end that they want 4000 tickets! -
Glad I got my XL yesterday then. Look out for the Cameroon Holland game on Thursday where my son and I will be proudly sporting our new Saints shirts among the sea of orange.

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
positivepete replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Earlier this month, football league clubs voted in favour of new rules restricting clubs' first team squads to 25 players over the age of 21, of which ten must be 'home grown' (registered in domestic football for three seasons before their 21st birthday). There will be no restriction on players under the age of 21. Our current squad has 18 players over the age of 21 I think, so no more than 7 new signings to come 1. Kelvin Davis* 2. Dan Harding* 3. 4. Jason Puncheon* 5. 6. Rahdi Jaidi* 7. Rickie Lambert* 8. 9. 10. Paul Wotton* 11. Lee Holmes* 12. Jose Fonte* 13. Tommy Forecast* 14. Dean Hammond* 15. 16. 17. Lee Barnard* 18. Joseph Mills 19. Morgan Schneiderlin 20. Adam Lallana* 21. Anthony Pulis* 22. Lee Molyneux* - 28. Bartosz Bialkowski* 29. Oscar Gobern 31. Ryan Doble 32. Andrei Pernecky 33. Jack Saville 34. Callum McNish 35. Danny Seaborne* 36. Garyn Preen 38. David Connolly* - Negotiating new contract 39. Aaron Martin 41. Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain 42. Ben Reeves Ryan Dickson* -

I will add one from Table Mountain next week -
Two more words Piper Alpha. American disaster in North Sea. The Americans are obviously missing the irony of bp having taken over American Petroleum, who left bp with loads of rusting assets, such as Alaska and Texas City

Thank you kind Sir!

Hi. Can you please ensure that BA056 21st June takes off from LHR for Cape Town. Not too worried about BA 058 on 28th coming back, but my nipper and I will be seriously P*ssed if we miss our trip to see Ingerland (hopefullt in our new Saints shirts! Thank you good man

You are quite correct, which is why the football authorities claim it is a separate issue from the administration
-
Got mine, and my young adult sons today. Probably miss a few matches but still cheaper and less hassle than buying week by week.

Lee Carsley would be an outstanding signing IMHO

Indeed, it is still the legal duty of the directors to run the club in a financially prudent manner, as no doubt some of the directors are about to find out. Financial Responsibilities You have to produce accounts that will be more complex than you may be used to producing as a sole trader (depending on the size of the business). As a director you have a legal responsibility to: Keep good accounting records from which accounts can be prepared which give a true and fair representation of the financial position of the company Produce accurate accounts, filed at the due time with Companies House Submit corporation tax returns to HMRC and pay any tax due Deal properly with the payment of staff, deducting tax and national insurance as appropriate and paying it to HMRC by the due date Trade solvently, ensuring that you are able to pay the liabilities of the business. To fail to do this is to commit an offence. And it is no good saying it was not your department, or someone else told me to spend the money

I started that rumour and I can assure you that there is no truth in it whatsoever!

Not enough to break the proposed salary cap at Po***muff. -
Drew and Morgan as a left foot, right foot combination would be outstanding in the centre of midfield. On the occasions they played together in the middle in the championship they did well. We would at least be able to play through midfield.

Reading friendly at St Mary's - 31st July 2010
positivepete replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
It is going to be a surprise. For those season ticket holders who have maintained a season ticket throughout the St Mary's years the new season ticket price will be £125! We never did get that loyalty bonus they talked about a couple of seasons ago. -
Anyone else seethe parallels between the labour party and Portsmouth? Ten years of unfunded boom ending in a big bust, in denial but still blaming everyone else! Good article on newarse.com http://newsarse.com/2010/05/07/gordon-brown-to-claim-election-victory-via-the-duckworth-lewis-method/ Sort of thing Avram would claim if he knew anything about cricket

I would like to think that the authorities are waiting until the season ends before dealing with this. It is far easier for them during this period and there is still time to sort out sanctions before the fixtures are produced. Besides they will not have anything to deal with if they are liquidated which is still a possibility, the CVA has not been agreed yet. I am sure this will keep us together on the board during the next couple of months! Sadly missed the last match as in Trinidad for three weeks. My son took a Pompey fan friend of his to show him what a half decent crowd looks like, and to give him a chance of switching allegiance before the crash. Should be back for the big match, just in time to jet off to Dubai Plil land. Had a note from Steve Grant to say that the end of season dinner is going to be close season?! So probably our sponsored player Simon Gillett will not be there, nor will Jamie White who my son knows from training at the same Tyro club, as rumour is that he is off to play abroad.

David Sullivan on West Hams wage bill: “Obviously, in addition a lot of players get sign-on fees, appearance money [up to £10,000-a-game], image rights, loyalty payments, and we pay 12.98 per cent National Insurance.” I wonder who that last bit is aimed at? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/westham/7683747/Kieron-Dyer-revealed-as-West-Hams-top-earner-on-83000-a-week.html

Extract from a piece written by Patrick Barclay in the Telegraph today. He was discussing the situation at Liverpool: "They can sign a group of new players only by taking their text from the Portsmouth manual of financial management"

From the Grauniad. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/apr/29/premier-league-football-league-parachute-payments "The carefully calibrated offer has the dual effect of satisfying clubs such as Bolton Wanderers, who have long wanted added insurance against going down, and the Championship clubs struggling with the investment required to reach the top flight. If accepted, it would apply to relegated clubs from this season and would also mean that payments to Middlesbrough – relegated in 2009 and not promoted this time – would be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. In addition any payments unclaimed because a club have been promoted back to the Premier League will be added to the solidarity pot." Confirming that the payments would not only apply to clubs relegated this season, but also to clubs relegated last season!
-
They will only be paid in full if a new investor comes into the club with new money. They cannot withhold current cash or income to pay above the agreed X pence in the pound to one subset of the creditors.
