Me to! Used to travel with Iain Stenhouse, Martin Newbury, and a few other hardy souls. Lack of practice these days so grading has slipped, but I turned out again for Hampshire U125s the last couple of seasons, after twenty years of not being available, got beaten by Norfolk both times.

It wasn't me, I play the Centre Counter! I joined the Cricketers club, which then morphed to Unity and Stoneham before arriving at Eastleigh Rail. I certainly played against Portsmouth Poly in the seventies, they revived their club last season after a long break. (I suppose I have to call it Portsmouth Uni now, but to our generation it is still the Poly!

And Les is still drawing most of games! Sounds like we are all from the same era! Sadly the Hollington - McEvoy influence is long passed and junior chess attendance at clubs in the area is at an all time low. Southampton chess is doing better in terms of number of teams than the Portsmouth league these days. I started in the Southampton league in 74/75 for the OS, and appear for Eastleigh Rail, except due to business I have not played this season. Started at the same time for Gosport, I still play for them but only made my first appearance of the season Friday!

I still play in the Southampton and the P*mouth leagues, must be enough of us here to start a club!

It is a fairly safe bet that O'Hara will be a spuds player again one way or another by the semi-final
-
If PFC go out of business on the 15th you can bet the FA will be wishing that they had thrown PFC out of the competition beforehand. A bye to the final for someone, and a missed opportunity for a money spinning semi-final for the FA.

If you complete the BBC predictor, you will find that a lot of the teams above us have to play each other. I reckon the top eight will be Norwich, Leeds, Charlton, Colchester, Swindon, Huddersfield, Millwall, and Saints. Not necessarily in that order, but we may well fall a frustrating three or four points short of the play-offs. It depends also on how the teams above us deal with the expectation of reaching the play-offs, you usually get at least one team who blows up completely in the run-in. Note the Brighton Saints match is not in there, so if you do complete it you will be one match short for Saints http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/predictor/default.stm

Thanks for that, so the assets of £38M or £21M for players may be £0 if they are liquidated, so less money for the creditors or the liquidators? So is 17th September significant? And why would Barclays choose to take a floating charge over the land on that date, and for what purpose? Would Gaydamak have taken a loan to help his Dad, say (£17M) and used the land as security?
-
A couple more questions: Are the players free agents if the club is liquidated? If so they may no longer be assets of the club to be sold by the liquidator if their contracts are null and void. There is a clause that if they are not paid they can exercise the right to void their current contract. When did the ground change hands? I thought Sacha owned the ground prior to this season, and that he only sold it back to the club when the money was paid by the fake Sheik - via the money loaned by Chainrai?! Will PCFC claim that this money went straight from Falcondrome? Why were Barclays imposing condition on Miland Developments on September 17th 2009. What is their role in this?

There was a funny moment before the press conference yesterday when the administrator was asking if they should start the press conference early, he turned to the chap on his left and asked where the press officer was! His eyes rolled when the chap presumably replied that he had walked out that morning!

As for Gordon Brown, what he actually meant to say was: " There is an election and a couple of marginal seats, will you vote for me I always give money to lost causes ".

From the blog on the BBC yesterday http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/mattslater/2010/02/portsmouth_fc_in_crisis_qa.html 169. At 1:01pm on 25 Feb 2010, Matt Slater wrote: One more thing about Andronikou....he has Pompey admin previous. He was part of administrator Tom Burton's team when the club was in admin before Mandaric took over. Burton did a decent job (certainly from an IP's point of view) so it can happen.

I am not sure Gaydamak is actually owed the money, I think the money quoted is what he wants PFC to pay him to transfer the land owed by Miland Developments, that is the land surrounding the ground, which includes their head office etc. This is the land that Barclays and Coutts have had an interest in since September 17th 2009, which might suggest that Gaydamak has had his money from the bank using the land as collateral. I am guessing but I assume he released the ground when the £17m was paid by Sheik 2, which was loaned to him by ....... and the story goes on. If so, this will not be part of the proceedings. But to be honest who can be sure?! Though of course the ground without the surrounding land is worth?????

The footy was poor but the visit was good. What a friendly club! Allowed in the supporters bar, the stewards, the turnstile operators and the kiosk operators were all friendly. (great moment in the supporters bar when the "lady" from PFC supporters trust came on the tele, a round of the Adams family, and a chorus of "she' a bloke, she's a bloke"! And of course the penalty shoot out! Best action on the pitch all night.

people better qualified than me will confirm but the courts and HMRC may take a dim view on this transaction and have it wound back
-
Not sure what the "interested parties" are spending their time talking to the club about, surely its just a case of here's the SOA, £1 for the business and take on the debts. It is HMRC, the other parties on the WUO, and maybe the EPL that the interested parties will need to convince.
