  1. We currently have 40 players with squad numbers, about 20 are involved. I predict 20 players out, 10 in, leaving a squad of about 30 players with 2 potential starters for each position. Some good youngsters will make up the numbers, and a new start for the academy with maybe some purchases here as well.
  2. Lichaj, Right Back, on loan from Aston Villa.
  3. Interesting article on Spanish football finances http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/apr/03/la-liga-premier-league
  4. So if Norwich lose to Tranmere, (2-0 down after 10 mins and with only 10 men) how does that make our result at Tranmere look? Paul Lambert Out!!!
  5. Shaleum Logan, right back at Tranmere on loan from Man City, by far the best full back we have seen at St Mary's this season Apologies to MarkR above, didn't see your post at first. We would be mad to let Waigo go and sign Jackson who is not half the player Papa is.
  6. Those goals conceded are league games only, last 14 since Millwall away
  7. 11 in last 14 matches 8 away 6 home, against 17 in previous 14 matches (7 home 7 away)
  8. We have improved over the season, in the first 12 home and 12 away league games we won 38 points, which equates to about 72 points over the season, in the last 12 home and 12 away matches we have won 45 points, which equates to about 86 points over the season, which will certainly make the play-offs even if we do not improve from this point The point is we are continually improving, and as Leicester have proved this season a winning side has a chance to go straight through the Championship, which if AP strengthens as he has indicated he will in the summer, we would also have that opportunity in a couple of season time. I have been watching since 1966, and that would represent as rapid an improvement as any over that time!
  9. I have always used Indigo http://www.indigo-press.com/ Good quality, competitive and they keep to their quoted delivery times
  10. Has Sullivan not heard about football investors from Dubai? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/30/david-sullivan-west-ham-united Still he could look to Saudi for someone with experience of running a Premier League club, who is free of such ties! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/30/ali-al-faraj-portsmouth And another tale of "wealthy" owners coming to the rescue..... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2010/mar/31/hull-city-russell-bartlett-tigers
  11. Of course it evens out, all the top teams get the decisions their way, all the bottom teams get the decisions against them.
  12. Pretty sure he declared that he was on the team last time at the first press conference. More interesting perhaps is the possibility of the "second admin" extra points deduction. It has been brought up on here a couple of times but I do not recall it being mentioned much in the press.
  13. Jonathan Pearce is by a long way the best commentator on television and radio, even before he said that! He understands and appreciates the game at all levels unlike a certain Mr Green who is often heard complaining about being forced to watch another Premier League, or Champions League game involving teams who he does not consider worthy, but would never soil his shoes outside of those competitions.
  14. There was a nodding donkey was in the field by Charles Watts Way many years ago, it is well known there are large reserves all round Hedge End, stretching up around Winchester. Wych Farm until recently held the record for drilling vertical wells, they can drill into the reservoirs from miles away these days, no need to go close to the houses. There is a long way to go before peak oil chaps.
  15. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/article7078254.ece New UEFA rules The new club monitoring requirements aim principally to: • Introduce more discipline and rationality in club football finances; • Decrease pressure on players’ salaries and transfer fees and limit inflationary effect; • Encourage clubs to compete with their revenues; • Encourage investment for the long-term benefit of clubs, such as investment in infrastructure (sports facilities) and in youth; • Protect the long term viability and sustainability of European club football; and • Ensure clubs settle their liabilities on a timely basis.
  16. Well done Bournemouth, they have got their transfer embargo lifted.....by doing the right thing and settling their debts http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/8590057.stm
  17. That takes us back what, 200 or so pages! Is the whole thing a coordinated charade?
  18. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/24/the-fiver-portsmouth-chelsea good read!
  19. Another fall out from HMRC and Sol vs PCFC? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/17/west-ham-suspend-image-rights-payments
  20. This line up can beat anyone at this level, but consistency comes from playing together for an extended period. This line up was put together two months ago, it has played a handful of games. Keep this squad together next season and we will be very consistent.
  21. Not making excuses for James, as I am sure he will be gutted himself with his display, but he looked rusty and to be fair there was a distinct lack of movement when he had the ball. Swindon worked very hard and closed down all night, as Wycombe did a couple of weeks ago. This often makes the player with the ball look worse than they deserve.
  22. Swindon came with a plan and executed it well. That happens sometimes. I am sure next season more teams will be prepared for us, we just have to break them down and have a little luck. Tonight we did not get the breaks. At least this time against Swindon we made some early substitutions and gave it a go. I doubt if any other teams will do the double over us this season, or next come to that.
  23. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/mar/16/mawhinney-npower-portsmouth-championship The fifth man?!
  24. The stats say we now have the second best defensive record (after Leeds) in the 1st division. Considering the start we had that shows the improvement as the season has gone on.
  25. I suppose that as self employed he will have to pay his own tax and NI. HMRC will be pleased with that!!!!
