Matty Fryatt has signed for Hull, (£1.2m) another past HCDAJFU

I think the postponed matches have helped Atkins begin to impose his style on the team, there is certainly more movement in the last third. NA was going mad at Davis today for holding onto the ball, I think we will see the ball move shorter and quicker again in the next few matches.

Charlton Weather Watch/Build Up - game called off! (Dejavu?)
positivepete replied to Nexstar's topic in The Saints
Couldn't he just put it back to a 2 pm or 3pm kick off to give time to clear the problem areas? The fans would have been more than happy to wait. What a waste of a day. I am sure he will get a warm reception when he next refs at St Marys -
He will not start scoring until he starts attacking the ball in the box like he did last season. Too many times this season when the ball has been crossed along the six yard box, he is still standing on the edge of the penalty area.

From the Grauniad today "Tony Pulis is ready to save Wayne Bridge from his Manchester City nightmare," according to the Sun. That's the £70,000-a-week nightmare. Liverpool, Fulham and Aston Villa are also keen apparently. Manchester United want either Valencia's Joaquin or Udinese's Alexis Sanchez to fill the gap left by Antonio Valencia. When Newcastle's Alan Pardew finds himself in times of trouble St Mary's comes to him, speaking words of wisdom like: "Sign Portuguese centre-half Jose Fonte and muscular hitman Rickie Lambert in a £3m double swoop." http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/dec/15/football-transfer-rumours-suarez-manchester-city

Quote from David Furst in the second article: "I remember watching him (OXO) at the Hampshire Schools' under-14s trials at Winchester College. He was the best player on the park by a mile. 'Yet he didn't get close to Hampshire Schools mainly because of his size." That is why the government are right to cut funding for school sports, well for football anyway. Teachers are not interested, and the Schools FA is way behind the times in football coaching

From "the Rumour Mill" in the Guardian.... According to Goal.com Aston Villa oddity Stephen Ireland could be off to Celtic on loan. Molde chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is "eyeing" Manchester United's Magnus Eikrem. Liverpool and Marseille are both consumed by a hot funk of priapic desire for poor unsuspecting blameless Rod Fanni, who really shouldn't ever come to England. And Arsenal want to sign Southampton's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is a 30-something shaven-headed utility midfielder who likes to get his foot in and has an impressive long throw. Not really. He's actually a s****ily-skilled 17-year-old midfielder. But you knew that.

first CVA payment April 2012 (5th page) gives them some leeway this season. Does that include BC's payments to charities, for which no date is given?

For those of you who think Guly has a poor first touch, what is your opinion of the quality of Lambert's first touch?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/9192325.stm Mandaric back in the frame at Wednesday The new favourite is former Portsmouth and Leicester City owner Milan Mandaric. The 72-year-old has been tracking the situation at Wednesday for some time and has recently banked a reported £40m from the sale of Leicester City to a Thai group. Mandaric's interest in the Owls was confirmed on Monday by former chairman Dave Allen only days after the Serbian-born businessman issued a statement to distance himself from a bid for the club.

Saints 3 Notts County 1 - Post Match Reaction
positivepete replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Just got back, couldn't understand why Davis chased the referee up the pitch, but if you stop the video on 22secs, you can see Davis dumped on the ground by a County player. (the away fans are now up the other end - this video was taken from the home end) -
Saints number 2 on the list http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/27/which-club-most-managers-football-success

It will be interesting to see if David Conn of the Grauniad and Matt Slater of the BBC keep to their earlier promises of lifting the lid when the administration process is over. At the moment the coverage is sycophantic.

First, great avatar DP Saint, that ages three of us! Very pleased to get the three points, getting three points from this type of match is what it takes to go up. I am a big fan of Chaplow but sadly, for me, he had a stinker today by his high standards. I hope he stays, he and Morgan would see us to the top. Also agree Barnard and Guly gives us a lot more movement upfront. At a bit of a loss as to why Puncheon and Lallana do not switch wings during the game, the first time Lallana worked the left back he brought him down for the free kick that led to the goal. And the same player had problems as soon as Chamberlain came on and went passed him on the outside. I am happy to have wide players on the "wrong wings", but they should rotate regularly during the game to give the full backs different problems. Looking forward to the trip next week

How does the saying go? Smell the burning Martyrs. So, as predicted they have run out of cash. Many companies survive long periods in administration as long as their expenditure is less than their income. So clearly the shoestring is frayed, Hacker Young will not accept the liabilities they have run up, and Gaydamak is the next source of cash. In tomorrows episode of Soap, will Sasha make a counter bid, will Milan return Ewing style from the dark side. It is all here on this thread

Best player you've seen play 'in the flesh'
positivepete replied to SO16_Saint's topic in The Saints
In the last 10 years - Zidane, saw him in Madrid near the end of his career, but his first touch was awesome. Despite that Real lost 4-1 at home, Eto on loan from Madrid got a hat-trick! This summer I was really impressed with Sneijder, I saw him play for Holland against Cameroon, a very modern player who combines incredible work rate with great vision. -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee/9085810.stm This is how these matters should be handled, get rid of the high earners and play the kids, not get rid of the kids and recruit high earners............... all together now: are you watching Hacker Young, are you watching Hacker Young

And from another blog in the Telegraph http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mikenorrish/100012876/liverpool-takeover-harry-redknapp-the-voice-of-the-people/ Perhaps we should give Harry the benefit of the doubt though. After all, if anyone’s the expert on football clubs and administration…
