My first game under NA. A lot better. More shape, playing out from the back, players supporting each other. The first performance this season where our players looked a better class than the opposition. Just need a bit more of last seasons form from Lambert and we should rise through the league pretty quickly.

The reason that we aren't scoring......
positivepete replied to lambertsrightleg's topic in The Saints
We are simply not attacking the ball in the box, there are few runs to get to the near post. We need to be sharper in these areas -
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/10/west-ham-lyall-greenwood Half way down this story, is this: Portsmouth's paperwork The transfer of Portsmouth's Football League share to a company said to be controlled by Balram Chainrai was not rubber-stamped by the League's board yesterday. And so the club remain in administration, which is not the outcome anyone would have expected when the administrator, Andrew Andronikou, was talking about "blue sky ahead" and how the club would soon be "out of the clutches of the Football League". It is believed there was insufficient paperwork for the League to ratify the club's takeover by PFC Realisations. If so, it would not be the first time Pompey have had a problem with their paperwork this week, with Liam Lawrence's loan from Stoke City to Fratton Park also held up over late filing of documents. "From our end, all documentation was sent on time, well before the 6pm deadline," Andronikou said. "I was there myself to see it." According to what Digger has heard, from the League's end it did not arrive until after 8pm. Who to believe? and this: Redknapp court hearing Harry Redknapp faces a court hearing over alleged tax evasion within 24 hours of his club's home Champions League tie against Werder Bremen. A scheduled hearing involving lawyers for Redknapp, Peter Storrie and Milan Mandaric – who deny charges of tax evasion – was due at Southwark Crown Court next week but has been postponed after legal teams requested more time. It will now take place on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 November, meaning it begins the day after the Bundesliga side travel to White Hart Lane. Southwark Crown Court's diary clearly does not pay too much heed to Redknapp's football commitments. Next week's scheduled hearing would in any case have clashed with his club's trip to Werder Bremen.

SSN reporting that S****horpe say the offer to Adkins is withdrawn
positivepete replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
Yes. MoN signed on Tuesday. NC just wants to see who his loyal fans are! -
If Adkins has been touted for 24 hours it is definitely not him. MoN for me!

Discussions are still taking place between Portsmouth and football's top brass to find a loophole. Portsmouth's plan B is thought to be an attempt to sign Lawrence on loan ahead of a permanent move when the transfer window re-opens in January. But there is a limit of two loan players from the same parent club and Pompey already have Stoke duo Ibrahima Sonko and Carl Dickinson on their books.

A poor attempt to rewrite history. Antonio was taken off to accommodate Puncheon moving back out wide. Puncheon was poor in central midfield that night, so Wotton was brought on to replace him, it was only the reluctance of Pardew to take Puncheon off that meant Antonio was subbed

I have to agree with these comments. He looked a bit lost at the start of the match, and clearly was more comfortable when he moved inside, but he did well in the second half. He will take time to adapt, but not all teams in our division close down as high up the pitch as effectively as Swindon.

Fair bet if Hunter's under 21s play

Didnt Bryn Gunn get sacked after winning 4 nil away at Yeovil last season? Lambert then proceeded to take Norwich up.........

This one is being brought up at the Football League meeting in September. Doncaster and a few others have questioned how Man City can be paying all the wages, and how this distorts the competition. The old rule was that the club the player was loaned to had to pay all the wages. Doncaster want this re-introduced. This is significant with the 25 man squad rule being introduced in the Premiership this season.

The transfer embargo continues with the signing of Kanu!!! I am sure AA said during the summer that he was out of contract....... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6339531,00.html

It is because he listens to the people on this site who think the only way to get out of league 1 is to play hoofball

Will he pass the fit and proper persons test with a court case hanging over him?!

Lives in Kingsbridge, come on Kingsbridgesaint, get the latest. I heard they were still in talks... -
First time I had seen him play last night. Good defender, stayed on his feet, loudest player on the pitch, played safe when he needed to, good decision maker. I would say he has a promising future if he carries on like this. Playing alongside Fonte clearly helped, but I would think, like others, that he could be a regular next season. I am sure he will make quite a few starts this season.

I am not a fan of Hammond, but he played one of his best for us games last night, as did Puncheon in the second half (he was barely involved in the first half). Schneiderlin, who I am a big fan of, had a poor game by his standards.
-
Just back, decent game but it showed how far we have to go to get to Prem standard. Although we had more possession and shots, in truth Bolton reserves had plenty in hand and could have stepped up at any time.

I would wager that Waigo will play more matches at a higher level than most if not all of the Saints players in the team last season save Connolly. For one thing he has the pace for the top level, and I still maintain that a decent proportion of his offsides were down to the fact that our players were not quick enough to spot his runs. In any event this thread is about his probable replacement, and I wish Guly a warm welcome to our club.

I saw on SSN that the Football League are not yet registering Bellamy's move to Cardiff. To paraphrase "we will not let clubs take on new commitments if they have not discharged others". It will be interesting to see if this rule is applied across all the clubs in the league.

Why not, what is keeping you?
