No, it's not actually. Has it happened in the Premier League era? I don't think so. Big clubs around Europe? Ok, there's only a few as big as Man Utd (like it or not); Real, Barca...etc Yes we bought Mark Hughes from Chelsea and he was in the twilight of his career.

Ok, Francis Burns, 1972, that's one. Thanks.
-
United TO Saints. Has it ever happened? Curious.
-
You've proved my point. Thanks.
-
Yeah that and his bloody attitude.
-
No chance. Players don't go from united to saints. Never gonna happen.
-
This. Wanyama can do one as far as I'm concerned. Never wanted to be here.
-
What's this got to do with Saints?
-
'Rock me Amadeus' would be a great chant for him!
-
Any shirley pubs showing the game today peeps?
-
What passing stats don't tell us is the distance of the pass, or whether it was a pass under pressure. Most of Wanyama's passes are 5-10 yards. Any more than that and he struggles imo.
-
Why didn't Ron bring on JRod when he took Long off? I thought that was a strange substitution which dulled our attacking threat in a game that we shoulda/coulda won by 5 or 6. edit: maybe he wasn't ready to give JRod 30mins??

We may have a stronger squad (debatable) but they have a better first 11 no question. We don't have a player like Mahrez, Vardy, or Kante. Kante was all over the pitch yesterday. I only wish Wanyama was as athletic, but sadly he's a lump. Watch him. You'll hardly ever see him sprint. Tadic is a lazy so and so who lets players drift past him into dangerous positions which nearly cost us another goal yesterday. Vardy's movement and pace puts Pelle to shame, but that's apples and oranges. Perhaps Vardy v Long is a more apt comparison. I'd say Vardy's a better finisher. We're a decent side but at the moment I don't know what our strongest team is, and I don't think Koeman does either. The team doesn't really pick itself and that says a lot. Too much inconsistency. Interesting piece about Leicester and the way they play, written by Danny Higginbotham back in November but still relevant now: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/how-pace-patience-and-the-long-pass-have-taken-leicester-to-the-pinnacle-writes-danny-higginbotham-a6751946.html

Friction between Koeman and some of the players according to The MoS
Webby replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
Tadic is lazy. He will not track his man. See yesterday when he let Simpson stroll past him for a shot on goal that he really should've scored and killed the game off. -
I get, and agree with your second point, but that game was part of the season's campaign. The first point is like expecting to be served first cos you spend more money at the bar than the guy that comes in only now and again. In some cases, that favouritism does happen in the case of regular bar dwellers, but you know, ignoring new customers is potentially losing future customers. At the end of the day, the club must feel that it has to take the opportunity to make a game more affordable (they even did so for the Europa games which was quite a surprise to me), and for folks with young families who perhaps can't afford regular league games this is a great opportunity to get their kids hooked on Saints. I don't see this game selling out and any STH wanting to go will have no problem getting a ticket.
-
A season ticket entitles you to a seat for 19 league games. You pay up front, or by finance, and you get a deal a bit cheaper than buying individual games and of course you're guaranteed your seat. Plus you get first dibs on tickets for other games in the season campaign. That's it. I don't see why there should be any further entitlement. This game has nothing to do with the season campaign and has much the same status as a pre season friendly. Does your ST entitle you to pre season friendlies? Vitesse home, or away? Couldn't afford to go away. Went to the home game. Obviously, if I only go to a dozen home games I'm less of a fan than a STH, right?
-
Someone moaning that they can't have their seat for this game, or rather that it's not reserved for them, and that they will have to battle it out with folks that maybe don't even go week in, week out.
-
There is so much elitism shown by STH towards those who are less fortunate and cannot get a ST due to money, family commitments or whatever reason. Bugs the hell outta me.
-
He is on a yellow too, so yeah, I can see that happening.

Any better streams?

On the OS now http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20160116-charlie-austin-announcement-southampton-qpr-2904717.aspx
-
No. We did get someone. Sh1t or not. At least we replaced him. If we'd had say, Austin, last season, maybe we'd have finished higher, and maybe we'd still be in the Europa. Maybe. We gambled, and lost.
-
I think we should/should have bought a replacement for Jrod. If he comes good, great, sell Long, if not we're covered. Hoping he'll be ok is like driving your car without a spare tyre when you've got the ability to put one in the boot.

I would drop VW and play anyone but him just to show he and anyone else they're not untouchable. Sadly, we don't have a midfielder that can get ahead of the ball, get into the box and finish. Neither do we have a player that can take people on and score from outside the box; instead we try to walk it in with too many passes and flicks (Pelle). I'd be tempted to play a 442 with a diamond midfield. Pelle and Mane up top, JWP wide right, Tadic left, Clasie dm, Davis am, usual back 5. This would give us more of a focal point up front, and more width and protection to the full backs. Tadic and JWP can cross for Pelle to nod down for Mane and Davis in support.
