  1. F*ck me they're doing their best to be unpopular with us aren't they? To put a twist on Nigel's infamous question, can he keep them up? Answer, probably not.
  2. Appleton sacked by Blackburn. Maybe they'll go for him instead.
  3. Billy Davies commutes from Glasgow to Nottingham. Terry Butcher's family home is in Ipswich and he works in Inverness. I think if you're a manager, you throw logic like commuting out the window.
  4. Will it? Just means it will require more money to get him.
  5. Going to be hard to hang on to him methinks.
  6. The Leeds job is better than Reading - ignore the fact Reading are in the Premier League, because they won't be there for much longer. Really hope he doesn't go for those soulless Berkshire nobodies.
  7. Totally agree, it could have been four or five - it was what I meant by the 'storming' first 44 minutes. Think my overall point still stands.
  8. Half-time bollocking? Hope there was a full-time bollocking too. At one stage I really thought we wouldn't win despite that storming first 44 minutes. It could quite easily have been 2 - 2 in the opening of that second half - we were wasteful to only score two goals in the first 45 minutes given the amount of chances we had. Could have been a very, very different outcome had it not been for Jay's goal and Boruc's good goalkeeping. This high pressing game everyone is suddenly an expert on - it only takes one slip for a repeat of Loic Remy's goal. I thought it would happen on Saturday, glad to be proved wrong.
  9. They recruited from the wrong industry. Pretty simple.
  10. Hart's sacking wasn't exactly unavoidable either, I was at Bournemouth in the press box the night he got the chop and the hacks were all saying he never saw it coming - he was even ready to go and do his press conference when he found out they'd got rid of him.
  11. The hope and belief that this team can do it, despite recent results, is keeping it alive. Keep the faith. Eighth isn't mathematically impossible, right?
  12. Nothing can stop our pressing football. The stuff of a tactical genius. Very credible 0 - 0 draw at Norwich that. Hardly anyone is going to go to Carrow Road and get a result like that.
  13. Boruc believes. He's keeping the dream alive.
  14. Should never have sold him. Get him back along with Brian Howard and Lukas Jutkiewicz.
  15. To be fair, given his questionable sobriety, it's not a bad achievement... Other than that, yes, £6m spent and scraping a play-off place wasn't great.
  16. We miss his hunger. We need hungry players.
  17. It would certainly outdo Bournemouth getting a new car park.
  18. Well you certainly told me. When are we signing Del Piero?
  19. We're still on for 10th though.
  20. I said it would happen, and the green shoots of disaster are emerging down at Bompey. They've made several staff members redundant from various teams - media, commercial, events and hospitality. The biggest outcry is for a man named Mick Cunningham who has been the Club's photographer for over 20 years. Prior to the arrival of the club's comms team, of which I once was a part, he did everything on his own, including the programme and website. When they were in dire financial trouble, he worked for free. Yesterday he was given his marching orders. Given the amount of money they've spent (they splashed out a million quid to bring Howe back), I can't see any way out of their latest mess.
  21. Yet listening to many on here, we struggle WITH them, Ramirez in particular. A lot of people sing the praises of Lallana, but he's far from the finished article. He still does the odd thing that frustrates me, I have to say.
  22. Yes, the farcical nature being that it was obvious to us all yet our management and our team let it happen. What was even more obvious was that Lambert was never going to score when Samba had him in his pocket, yet we still tried going through him at every opportunity,
  23. QPR's second goal was similar to Sunderland's winner, ball down from the right, tapped in. I fail to see the improvement in our game to be honest. Yoshida who looked as if he was making great strides under Adkins looked awful on Saturday. The first goal was an absolute farce, you knew from the minute Remy got the ball that it was going in.
  24. Lighthouse - A handful of good performances, which ultimately got us five points, are probably not enough to predict a tenth placed finish. We once won three in a row under Mark Wotte, that never made us Championship title contenders. We were relegated in fact.... I agree with Mr. Turkish.
  25. A comparison then. Nigel Adkins' last six Premier League games Chelsea 2 - 2 Southampton 1 point Aston Villa 0 - 1 Southampton 4 points Southampton 1 - 1 Arsenal 5 points Stoke 3 - 3 Southampton 6 points Fulham 1 - 1 Southampton 7 points Southampton 0 - 1 Sunderland 7 points Mauricio Pochettino's first six Premier League games Southampton 1 - 2 QPR 0 points Newcastle 4 - 2 Southampton 0 points Southampton 3 - 1 Manchester City 3 points Wigan 2 - 2 Southampton 4 points Manchester United 2 - 1 Southampton 4 points Southampton 0 - 0 Everton 5 points Two points worse off, Pochettino has had one or two tougher fixtures I grant you, but points wise it's not an improvement. I wouldn't consider him a 'tactical genius' as others have, that is for certain. I definitely wouldn't have us down as top ten material.
