How many times a day do you have a look at the Championship table?
teamsaint replied to saintmatt's topic in The Saints
when we were fourth in the PL in 2003/04( i think) I cut it out and put it on my kitchen wall. After that it was all downhill to the bottom of League 1 !!!!!!!! so the scissors remain in the kitchen drawer. -
For "strolling arrogantly", read, "doing enough to win, protecting players with niggles, and keeping enough in reserve for the next game, a formula which served Saints well in League 1 and this season"
-
I am going to assume that NA is keeping Corky for the toughest games. possibly explains some of the lacklustre passing last night.
-
three, some of them. its not a problem down at farton though.
-
thing is, strikers can often have a day when chances a few, and defenders are on their game. On those days, it can be one moment that pays their wages....for guly at reading it was playing SDR in for his goal. A perfect pass, that helped save the game.
-
don't like to be fair to them, but nearly 1000 folks prepared to travel to derby to watch a team as poor as they have is a moderately good effort. and represents around 10 % of their supporters.
-
beats me why ordinary people ever try to defend this kind of nonsense . plenty of people at board level bring nothing to the party except a privileged background. and most people at the top will happily trample all over anybody to get and keep what they want.
-
well this post made me laugh, which is good.
-
our defence was really excellent.to concede only once(and that from a free kick) from a LOT of pressure and that many corners was a fine display. back 4 starting to get to the level we need them to be. DC not adding enough at the moment.

if the police had put proper crowd controls in place outside of the ground the disaster would never have happened. The police knew how to do this. They knew that the Leppings lane terrace was a smallish area, with fences. They knew there was a chance that people might arrive late. It was their job, they had plenty of time and expertise to plan for it. They failed.

So these JCLs would be those people who travelled a 350 mile (or whatever) round trip and paid £28 a ticket plus petrol money , and took a day off or wasted a day of their weekend to get on the bandwagon? I suppose so. Bet most of them are plastics who have never been to a game since we dropped out of the PL. Perhaps there should be a committee to decide who should be allowed to go to away games, and how they should behave when they get there. Oh, and if people who have done all the above mentioned things to support their team decide they want to sit down to watch and support the team ( at £28 a seat ticket) then I for one dont blame them. Especially if they are right behind, for instance, lots of very tall people, and cannot see the game.

juat in case anyone is any doubt about this being a good days work, especially as we did play some excellent football... remember when Reading won the CCC with over 100 points......................they celebrated a 0-0 at our place like they had won the cup.......... and it turned out they were right to !! you really dont have to win away games at top 6 teams to get promoted..though it does help, obviously !

You are spot on. The people in charge have no idea, and do not care, how most people live. Every single thing they do takes money out of ordinary peoples pockets. All government spending is going, wherever they can do it, into the pockets of big companies (infrastuctureprojects and tax relief) or to the city. (check out where £75bn of quantitative easing went....) And sadly labout is just as bad. new frontbencher Rachel Reeves...British embassy, bank of England, HBOS. So she will help defend working people ....obviously. Her first big thing was to DEFEND raising pension ages....when unemployment is soaring.(she tried to make labour look good by a bit of tinkering round the edges of the pension age plans). Do not trust ANY of them to defend us. They are all in the pockets of the banks, big money, the arms companies, and anybody else with power. Look around you. Look at your local high st. People don't choose to be poor or ill educated. Other, powerful people make sure that this is their status. Time to wake up. Time to look after each other. Time to deal with the tiny elites who live off our hard work.
-
not short sighted at all.... quite deliberate and well thought out. watch carefully....this "government" is targetting all its spending on companies(including arms companies) and its city friends (check out where the quantitative easing money went, all £75BN), and is taking as much as possible out of the pockets of ordinary people. Watch every move, because this is what they are doing. They are impoverishing all but the top 10 %. They are getting our kids into debt as early as possible, and making the rest of us work till we drop. Its not pretty, and sadly labour want all the same things. Don't trust a word any of them say...we are here to keep them and their rich masters happy.

Oh no, I live in a real world. I can see what goes on, and that is the US and its friends bullying the world in a totally unjustified way. If you like your hard earned money going on tax to pay for all this violent nonsense then that is your call...in my real world its time for this to stop. We support the whole cycle. Back Saddam, turn Saddam into a demon, invade, set up new government to arm, etc etc.Just look at the awful regimes we arm year after year. not my dream world.. the real nightmare world they have given us.
-
The problem is the people at the top, who are happy to have us all arguing about foerign workers, shirkers etc, while they earn huge profits, bank bonuses etc, Don't blame the victim, blame the criminal. Ask yourself where last weeks £75BN QE went.... We need to wake up to the causes of our problems...big money, arms industry etc. Not you, not me,...............them !!
-
I suggest that if the US kept out of foerign countries, and kept its armed forces as just a threat, the world would be a better place.
-
pity about Eastwood... talented player. Needs a "Lawrie" kind of manager to sort him out, I think.
-
So the fact that they come from a tiny self perpetuating elite who have been running this country (and bleeding us dry)since the Norman invasion doesn't matter then. We are just being nasty to them for no good reason?
-
I watch most TV football now with the sound off, and some music playing. Once you get used to it, its a much better experience. you get to enjoy sport and music at the same time, which is good. and you don't have to listen to commentator psycho babble.

There is ONE club with a similar size demographic that regularly gets numbers in that would fill a ground bigger than SMS.... Sunderland. As Turkish says, it was always possible to get a ticket for a game if you rang up on the first day of sale. I never had a ST in the PL at sMS, and I never missed a game I wanted to see. if cortese really does bring top 6 level to Saints on a regular basis, then there might, just might be a case for a 40k ground. Till then, 32500 will do just fine. This is not being small minded, this is how it is. And we have years of economic turmoil ahead.
-
Best way to drive down that cost is to unsubscribe from all sky pay channels, and then get one of their half price deals. I got a year and then am currently on another 6 months at £20 a month.
-
I miss that one. lets bring it back. It was brillo.
-
I do know we were 4 up at half time. I know because i got in very late and couldn't see the archers road goal, where we scored all 4.....4-0 and never saw one goal. Brilliant !!

football forums... amazing: we win 4-0 to stay top of the league , playing quite excellent football...and by 8.30 pm there are just 80 comments. not a criticism, just amazing. anyway, great second half, chuffed for Guly after he had been criminally ignored when wide open on two occasions....and really delighted for Holmes. Hope he can go on to have a real influence this season. It really is a lot of fun atm. Biggest downer...the save that stopped what surely would have been the goal of the season.
