    Euro

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_%26_Poor's the people who are telling us that Eurozone, including france and Germany may not be credit worthy. They gave AAA ratings to all the big sub prime outfits in the USA. We are being taken to the cleaners by big finance.(like we didn't already know).
  2. next thing you know, they will be telling us the first pen was outside the box, or some other nonsense.
  3. for most people, unless you are in a decent company pension scheme, contributions are just a way of locking away what little spare money you have until the insurance company or government see fit to let you buy an annuity with the pittance left after charges. For personal pensions, the government will keep raising the age you can get your money out. They really hate us having our own money.
  4. but strikers are lucky in that sense, they can have an absolute shocker, and one lucky swing of the boot and they are a hero and all is forgotten. lets face it, the media and fans are quick enough to have a go at a striker when they go half a dozen games without a goal. i stood up an clapped guly off. Yes, he was well below his best, but he got a goal(somehow) and got us back in the game, and he has been very important to us this season. In contrast, a, player like Chaplow, (just as an example) can always look good, just by covering vast distances, even on a bad day. Thats how it goes.
  5. If you were a CH, there would be plenty of championship players you would rather have to deal with than Barney. There would be plenty of Championship teams interested in him if he became available. Lots of games, lots of "little situations " to come yet>...i am happy to bet that barney gets us a vital goal or two somewhere on the road that is 2011/2012.
  6. i am a private sector worker with no pension. I support the strike. Workers need to stick together and support each other. Division is a tool the people at the top use.
  7. crowd right behind the team, big noise etc is what we can do to help on Tuesday. big game, looking forward to it. Win it for Chappers !!
  8. how are all the foreign wars helping the "debt mountain?" other than by adding to it?
  9. laptops. they must be the worst offenders. programmed to last 366 days if you are lucky. OP is spot on. this is good. http://www.storyofstuff.org/movies-all/story-of-stuff/
  10. final whistle against sheff utd ? team coming out onto the pitch for our first post admin game against Millwall?
  11. yes, absolutely unbelievable. I was near the same idiot. you really wonder sometimes...........
  12. how is whu a much bigger club? I would put it at "somewhat" bigger. They get attendances that are maybe 20% bigger. They get relegated from the PL from time to time. how often do they finish in the top half of the PL? IMO : clubs much bigger than saints include spuds, everton, Leeds, newcastle, villa. clubs somewhat bigger might include Forest, sunderland, whu.
  13. If the pen was outside the box, (looked inside from block 2 !!!!) then albion were unlucky. However, any result other than a Saints win would have been a rank injustice. They had NO efforts on target, and looked toothless even in a first half where they knocked the ball around pretty well.
  14. yup, i thought it was going over , just for a split second. Have had a stern word with myself for doubting the great man !!
  15. one little down side for me....the chump behind me who insisted on calling Guly " a bag of ****e". Unbelievable. If guly is what the guy says, can't wait till we get somebody decent up front !! Otherwise, it really is a LOT of fun at the moment. in 40 + years can't really remember anything like this in the league. Maybe the season we topped div1 for 7 weeks, or the autumn of 79, but this really is the biz. Enjoy.
  16. brighton were pretty annoyed...but then again, if they had actually got an extra point they would have been promoted, so it was their fault, not ours.
  17. if anyone is on that board, do point out that the scummers dock strike thing is made up.
  18. to be fair to us, away followings in general have risen a lot over the years. back in the day you got the odd massive turnout, especially for cup games, but not so many at lots of league games.
  19. fewest I have seen was the 4-1 defeat at Charlton in 1975. very few indeed.
  20. proper football, back in the old combination days. One o r two decent players, one or two that might make it. Most people more interested in scores from the first team away game. A chance to go in the main stand on the cheap. Gone forever. There might be a nice documentary in it for some desperate film maker.
  21. there are pubs open for all fans within 10 minutes walk. I walked past one. I had a drink in the bar/bistro inside the complex, no ID or anything, normal pub prices. Not difficult to take seriously. Their slow decline has brought them to an all too familiar situation..a big city like Coventry deserves better.
  22. The biggest problem so far has been leaking too many goals, which looked sorted for a while, but crept back in this week. Looking back, over the whole season, the two promoted teams for the last 5 years conceded 32, 58, 35,48,52,37,55,55,47 and 42. At this rate we will concede around 50, which as long as we continue our decent scoring rate, shouldn't be a problem. only one thing really matters though, keep up 2 points a game and all will be well...........
  23. If you win most of the games that you ought to win ( if you are going to get promotion) which is the home games, and against the bottom half away, you don't need to worry about winning away against top half teams. So far that is pretty much what is happening. Generally you need to win around 17 at home and nine away, (very roughly) and draw about a 10/12
  24. Anyone else try to use the non existent park and ride at The Oak ? good thing I was there nice and early !!
  25. if we had been an the championship as long as them , with as little success, and were as low down the league and as poor as them, we wouldn't be getting much over 12k turning out either, I suggest. Hopefully would make a bit more noise though. Anyway, Guly was amazing today, AL still clearly struggling to get to his best. The great thing is we have threat everywhere..looking a bit wobbly, and up pops foxy with a gem of a cross.
