  1. The problem the Liberals have, and one I feel will see them decimated at a later date, is that many people who voted for them at the last general election were disillusioned Labour supporters who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Brown (which I can fully understand) and saw the Liberals as a progressive left(ish) party. Now they've sold their souls for power those votes will disappear for good and those who defected to them from Labour will never do so again and plenty of Liberals have already defected themselves to the Labour Party. However they want to spin it they will be held responsible for the ideological cuts that the tories will ensure happens.
  2. Do you really believe Cable would really rein in his speech on the orders of No10? Tone some of the language down prehaps, but no more. Cable has always been his own man which is why even lefties like me like him. He's a refreshing change in mainstream politics.
  3. As someone who spends his working life in the public sector I feel that far, far too many poor managers are paid far, far too much money. It's also a case of seniority gets promotion regardless of ability in too many cases. All that happens is the Peter Principal comes into play. There are times, such as getting the best teaching staff for very poor schools, when you have to offer the big bucks but for a lot of positions it's a case of poor managers getting paid too much whilst doing a poor to middling job. And I consider myself a leftie.
  4. I met my wife in Castaways Bar on the QEII. I soon as I saw her I told the lad I was with that I was going to marry her. That was 1991.
  5. He's hardly going to say otherwise is he?
  6. Which is what he's hoping you'll do, without a fight.
  7. Wasn't the club takeover due to be ratified on the 16th or did I just imagine that?
  8. I think what he means is that he's not groomed for the media. Most modern politicians, of all persuasions, are anodyne to the extreme.
  9. The forthcoming cuts, tax rises, rising unemployment (forcast to be higher in the private than public sector due to loss of contracts) and possible double dip, combined with the collapse of the Liberal vote will see the tories out of office for a generation. For a very large portion of society "The Banks" are to blame for the economic mess and not the last government and that view, combined with the cuts and reduction in services, will see Labour home. It also helps that Labour, this time, have avoided a civil war and Brown not being involved speaks for itself. All, of course, IMHO.
  10. The Trust is irrelevant and SISA are clueless non-entities.
  11. Is very racist attack in Portsmouth done by a pompey fan? Is very murder, rape, assult, fraud committed in Portsmouth done by a pompey fan? No? Thought not. The same applies to every city and town in England. Thick skate c**t as has been shown, over and over again.
  12. And that has what to do with saints? Oh, it doesn't. Good to see you're still a 'kin pr1ck of the highest order. How is your contact at the club, who you see socially every two weeks oor so? Given you anymore fantastic, always accurate, inside tips. C**t.
  13. After the game I said on here that the vibe was all wrong and there were clear issues on the pitch and then had a series of PM discussions with others who'd also picked up on it. After the Orient game I thought it obvious that AP and some of the players were really disinterested. The damage was done in the summer and it's going to cost us this season and it didn't just include the insanity of not replacing Antonio and Wago.
  14. I think I've resigned myself to a long spell in division 3. I don't know what happened over the summer but it was clear at the Plymouth game that things were seriously wrong.
  15. You are not alone in that.
  16. Strange that all the whinging going on on this thread is from those in the private sector and ignorance of the fact that pay freezes and cuts have been felt across all sectors. No one forced any of us into out current jobs. We are all free to leave for better jobs so instead of whinging like a 3yo kid do something about where you find yourself.
  17. I have no issue with most of that as I believe in a mixed economy and not the poor, City led, service economy that we have now. Germany, last 1/4, had their largest 1/4 growth in 25 years based on exports of things they made, in Germany, so it can be done.
  18. Germany springs to mind.
  19. No, I mean high earning bankers.
  20. Then why is the current government determined to bring back a manufacturing base to the UK? Because only by actually making things can your economy grow. I would suggest you look at how well Germany is doing, driven by exports of things they actually make.
  21. All high earning bankers and parasitic scum whose only goal is to make more money. If people feel that is ok and that their taxes balances out their greed then they are living in lala land.
  22. We used to have something called industry but we destroyed it and hoped that The City would replace it. That worked so well that all poitical parties are desperate to rebalance the economy.
  23. If earning loads of dosh is your only aim in life then I genuinly pity you (not you personally) but that's what drives you, fair enough. My best mate, who works for Bank of New York (in the UK) earns 10x my salary and he started off low down and luck and graft got him where he is. Am I jealous of him? No. Would I want his long hours in London, nights away from the kids and a rather odd peer system? No. Do I think he should be taxed heavily? 'kin right I do. Do I think he contributes anything to society? Do I fook, and, to be fair to him, nor does he.
  24. None of my team have had a pay rise in the last 3 years. We don't mither about it, just crack on. If we don't like it we are free to get jobs elsewhere. Oh, and they are all in the public sector.
  25. Talk has been rife for a while that AP has a "super injunction" out on the press for events when he was at West Ham.
