Obafemi. And if Ings stays, Obafemi will go.

Remember when Walcott used to know where the back of the net was?
-
He has been in a lot of the games he's played. Looked ok when we first signed him on loan. Slowly got worse, then injured and now just looks awful. I thought he'd bag a few goals for us. How wrong could I have been?

Saints Sign Kit Deal with Hummel
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
I thought they wore it at Luton and possibly QPR too, but I could be mistaken. There's only a couple of the original shirts still in existence. The majority were donated to a Sunday league team when Saints had finished with them. They stuck their own club badge and sponsorship over the Saints and Draper badges. -
People laughing about us getting Howe in. What have we got to lose? He's a good choice to get us back up when we get relegated next season. If we keep Ralph then there's no way he's going to stay when we go down, so get Howe in now. I watched the FA Cup semi at the weekend and throughout the second half the commentators pointed out that Southampton didn't seem to know how to change things. They were absolutely spot on. It's been the story of our season and you can't blame that on the players. We've got some good players and Ralph simply isn't getting the best out of them.
-
I'd have got Howe in a month ago. I've just got a feeling that Ralph won't stick around at the end of the season. He'll certainly not stick around if we get relegated... Hopefully that's unlikely. Howe would have given the team a much needed boost for the last 1/4 of the season. In the event that we did get relegated at least we'd have a manager who would stick around and have a go at getting us back up.
-
Ralph should have gone a month ago. Should have got a new manager in to give them a bloody good kick up the arse for the final quarter of the season. Something that Ralph seems incapable of doing. I honestly thought they might have turned a corner after the comeback against Burnley. It was great to see the team pretty much back at full strength. Stupidly, I got my hopes up. Should have known it would be business as usual a week later. I wouldn't be surprised if they go into the last game of the season needing a win to stay up. The only good thing about Saints is those new Hummel retro shirts that the club has just launched.

Southampton 3-2 Burnley - Match Thread

That was absolutely superb. 6 weeks ago at 2-0 down inside the first 30 mins we'd have just given up and gone on to concede 2 or 3 more. I can't remember the last time we went 2 down and came back to win. It's a great feeling to have watched them recover from those early setbacks. Good to see the squad pretty much back to full strength too. -
Whoever we go for needs to be prepared to manage us in the Championship.

Macca in goal? Given how many he's let in recently it has to be Forster in goal. 5 at the back? I don't think so. Evans??? -
If we go down, Ralph won't stay. I say we may as well make a move for Eddie Howe. Bring him in now and he might be able to keep us up. If he doesn't, we've got a decent Championship manager.

Resting half the team at Man City so that they were available for this 6 pointer worked out well, didn't it? 😕 I'll say what I said when I saw the team he put out at Man City. A manager should always play the best team that's available to him. Having your 'best players' (take that with a pinch of salt) sat on the bench is bizarre. You can't go around trying to protect your best players from possible injury. They might get injured. On the other hand, they might not. In the event that you do lose a player to injury then deal with it, if it happens. Benching players so that they don't get injured is unbelievably negative. These are professional athletes. They should be able to play 2 games a week. Other clubs seem to manage it without all the chopping and changing. Ralph obviously thought today's game was the more winnable of the two fixtures and look at the performance they put in and how it ended. All he's done is chop and change things. He looks like a man who will try anything in the hope of something working out. I can't help but feel that he's just to nice. He needs to be firing a rocket up some of that lot.

Who are you telling to pipe down? It's a forum! A place for people share opinions, not be told what to do by you! A manger should set out to try and win every game. I don't subscribe to this resting players so that they don't get injured. Injuries are part of the game. We might have fielded a full strength team and won tonight, without any injuries. Then we wouldn't be pinning everything on beating Brighton at the weekend. Something that there's absolutely no guarantee of at all.
-
City are more than capable of scoring 4 or 5 against most teams. I don't see this being any different with that lineup. 😞
-
You won't win games if you leave your best players on the bench. Injuries are part and parcel of the game. You deal with them if and when they happen. Ralph seems to be so worried about losing his best players to injury that he thinks it's better to not play them. Absolutely crazy. That's possibly the worst starting line up I've seen this season. It's as if he's said 'We won't beat them anyway, so let's not even try'. 😡

Thank god for that. I feared for what would happen today, particularly after their win midweek. Ings' injury obviously a concern, but this result is a huge boost. -

Not quite sure how you think the rest is bollocks when it's a fact that we have only taken 4 points in the last 30? Looking at your other posts, you seem to get some kind of kick from trying to ridicule and belittle other people for having an opinion that isn't the same as yours. Quote... "You do talk some crap mush. Stick to slagging Redmond off and you wont look so stupid." This is a forum. A place for people to share views and opinions. This may come as a bit of a disappointment and a shock, but they're not all going to be the same as yours. That doesn't make people stupid. -

1. Do people honestly still think we'll stay up? If so, how? We don't even be able to pick up points in the games that look winnable on paper. 2. If we do stay up, what do people honestly think is going to happen next season? If we don't go down this year, then we're definitely going next year. This club is fucked. -

I try to look at the positive side. It's actually 4 points from 30. 4 points since the start of the year. What a fucking joke. If we'd got 4 points from our first 10 games of the season there'd absolutely no way Ralph would still have a job. -
Leeds 3-0 Saints - Match Thread
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
You can't start a game with Adams, Redmond and Tella (who actually did ok) when you look at our recent form. If it had been a cup game against a league one team, then maybe, but not away at Leeds FFS. Ralph looks like a man who has run out of ideas. That starting line up tonight just looked desperate. Djenepo was man of the match on Saturday. His work rate was superb. What does Ralph do? Stick him on the bench. Minamino has scored 2 in 3. What does Ralph do, stick him on the bench. There's an argument for resting Ings, but you don't replace all 3 of them with 3 players who don't score goals and who've never started a competitive game together. Now isn't the time to start experimenting. Based on recent form, Djenepo & Minamino should have started instead of Redmond and Tella. I will be amazed if we stay up this season. If we do then we're only delaying the inevitable. I don't see Ralph, Ings, JWP, KWP Bertie or Vestergaard being there next season. A mate thinks we should make a move for Eddie Howe before he goes to Palace. My argument is this... Why on earth would he or any other credible manager come to Saints, with a board that couldn't give a f**k and no money to buy what's needed to compete at this level? -

Exactly this. We need to start getting some points on the board and fast. 6 weeks ago people said there was absolutely no chance of Saints being relegated and that 35 points should be enough. Just look how the odds have been slashed. The gap is now down to 8 points and we still have to play Fulham, who look like they've got a lot more fight than we have, as do the likes of Burnley. I could see it going down to the wire between us, Fulham and Brighton. 1 win in 13! 1 point in 8 games. Another 9-0 defeat! If we'd started the season with that form Ralph would be long gone. -

They're not going to click when Ralph leaves, Minamino, Ings and Djenepo on the bench. Redmond couldn't hit a barn door. Adams scores once in a blue moon and Tella had never started a league game. Utterly bizarre decisions. The buck stops with Ralph. He got that totally wrong tonight. The minute I saw the line up I knew we'd come away with nothing. -

Disappointed to have thrown away the lead, again, but if you'd offered me a draw before the game I'd have taken it. Any point is a welcome point at the moment. If we can get something at Leeds it would be superb.
