We need Stuart Armstrong back. We struggled to win games when he wasn't playing last season. That said, we struggled to win games when he was. 😄 But in all seriousness, he just seems to give us something that's missing at the moment. It would help is Ralph started playing the likes of Broja and Tella too.

Pretty happy with that. If you look at the same 4 fixtures from last season (Everton. Man Utd, Newcastle, WHU) we got 0 points from any of them. This season we've taken 3pts, so it's an improvement.

Djenepo shouldn't be starting games. He's a sub that you bring on for the last 15-20 mins. Redmond has to start in that position for our next game. Walcott's just another sub. Moi looking like a vastly improved player and decent cover for S. Armstrong, who I can't wait to see back in the first team. We look much better when he plays. At least our strongest 11 seems to be taking shape now.

Has anyone watched the lad play? I've done some digging around and found some bits and pieces. I know it's not easy to tell from watching videos but he doesn't look like anything special at all. Surely we'd have been better to spend 3 or 4m more and gone for the lad from Forest, who looks far more impressive from the videos I've seen.

I do hope the club aren't selling him. Losing Ings and Vestergaard was a blow but I'll be properly pissed off if they let him go. We looked so much better with him in the team last season.

Certainly didn't expect that result. McCarthy makes me nervous. With our current 2 CB's I'd still like to see us play with OR anchored in front of them for protection. I'd then play SA & JWP in front of him playing box-to-box. Stick Tella (Djenepo or Redmond) on one side and Adams on the other with Armstrong up front. Not so much a 4-3-3 but a 4-1-2-3 or 4-1-4-1.

I think you'll find that the board have bought up all the dog shit and stuck saints badges on them in some poor attempt to try and convince fans that they're watching a Premiership team. 😉

Ralph's time was up 10 games before the end of last season. The club should have got rid and started a fresh with someone who could then rebuild through the summer. All we're looking at now is another season of chop and change and hope that we stay up. It's pretty shit being a saints fan.

McCarthy's name on the team sheet guarantees one thing. Saints will concede at least 2 goals. Face facts. Saints have done an excellent job of building a team fit for relegation. The defence was woeful last season and should have been the main focus throughout the summer. We've replaced our LB. Failed to strengthen at CB and bought a young RB who has somehow got a starting place over our best defender. That team selection was woeful. Ralph still doesn't know his best 11. He's fucking clueless and gutless. It's between him and Arteta for the first managerial casualty of the season.

That's a dodgy starting 11 if I ever saw one. 4 players who would be amongst my first names on the team sheet all sat on the bench. 😕

Have we actually strengthened our squad or just bought in replacements who are of a lower quality? We leaked goals last season, so surely the defence was the priority? Perraud replaces Bertrand. Upgrade or downgrade? Only time will tell. We've got cover at RB which is good, but we need a CB and with Vestergaard seemingly on his way out, you could argue that we need 2 CB's. We also need cover at LB and a defensive midfielder. I genuinely hope that Armstrong and Broja do the business for us, but as things stand, I can't help but feel that we've only gone sideways. Personally, I still think we still need 3 players, unless we're going to find a CB who can play as a DM and a LB who can cover as a CB? In which case we might get away with 2.

Not seen much of him at all. Watched a few videos this afternoon and I can definitely see the similarity with Ings. That ability to take a man on, beat him and then bury it, often from a good distance.
