  1. The FCC can take you off air for a host of different reasons. If Ofcom uphold complaints from someone on GB news and they are removed from air as a result, in what way are they prevented from speaking ?
  2. Indulge me. Do the FCC rob American citizens of their first amendment rights?
  3. Explain how any of that impinges on free speech ?
  4. I don't think he should be sacked. It's likely though that with his contract ending soon, Disney probably didn't think it was worth the hassle given it's still arguable like I said. He's not valuable enough for them to bother with and he was silly to put himself in that position.
  5. In other news, I saw that Brigitte Macron is prepared to provide proof that she is a woman in her lawsuit against that odious piece of rubbish Candace Owens. Let's hope she rinses her for all she has.
  6. it's at least arguable that the implication of his words were that the shooter is a right winger and MAGA people were desperate for that not to be the case so amplified false information. I know that's not what he meant be it can be interpreted that way which is a foolish mistake on his part in my opinion given the febrile atmosphere at present. He'd have been better off not reacting in that fashion.
  7. Yeah I don't agree with that personally as I already said. I don't think they should do that and I don't think he should be cancelled even if you disagree with him. I think he's pretty foolish for saying something like that that is open to interpretation and coukd be implying things that are untrue. It's still not a free speech issue.
  8. Who knows what the reason is. All we know is it's definitely not a freedom of speech issue.
  9. Put it this way - if I knew that someone was using the word fascist, had a trans partner and furry fandom messaging on bullets he'd engraved and people who knew him described his as a leftie who thought that Charlie Kirk was hateful, I'd have been astounded if that person subsequently came out to be on the right. Yes some people were desperate for him not to be on the right for culture war reasons - the exact same thing happens on the opposing side too where people on the left jumped on the fake news that he was a groyper and we eveeb saw the odd example of it on this thread- but most stuff I saw was from people pointing out that the majority of emerging evidence strongly suggested he was on the left. The fact that now people are using that to potentially start a campaign against the left doesn't really change that (and in some instances a reaction to the hate whipped up is justified.)
  10. Didn't the information about him being the leftie in his family, the messages on the bullets and the trans partner come around about the same time that we knew about his Republican family ?
  11. If we have a load of illegal migrants from somewhere like Pakistan who have failed in their appeals, why are we not demanding that the Pakistani government take them all back immediately ? We have significant leverage over many countries.
  12. Bizarre you would think this is curtailing freedom of speech. I wouldn't have cancelled his show but it's not removing freedom of speech if his channel executives want to.
  13. Downes being injured could be a blessing in disguise if it allows us to try some new players in his system. Jander or Aribo for me.
  14. Batman's point was that you can get arrested and harassed by the police for tweets. It's a fair bit more than simply irritating. People have a right to express themselves however they like online as long as it's not direct incitement or similar. Let's ignore the Lucy connolly case and look at the many lesser examples of police visiting houses because someone has complained about a tweet that has upset them.
  15. Is this actually something decent - I hope so -or is it just part of the PR that comes with state visits ?
  16. Right well if thays the case then I don't believe we should allow belated modern slavery appeals. If you miss the clearly communicated deadline then that's on you.
  17. And you give the appellant a deadline for filing the appeal with enough time for the system to look at it and reject it with no more appeals necessary. That's a much better approach than we have now.
  18. Supposedly text messages to his transgender lover.
  19. A week is a hypothetical example. The deadline for an appeal needs to be early enough that the appeal can be done and dusted before the flight is due to take off whether that's a week, three weeks or whatever. What we can't have is last minute appeals designed to delay things. One appeal with enough tine to process you and reject it and then you're in the flight with no further delays. If we'd said to this bloke three weeks ago that you have until next week to appeal your deportation and then two weeks to prove your case or you're leaving then that would have been preferable.
  20. In fact looking at this case he has 14 days now to get the necessary evidence together. If the deadline for appeal had been 14 days ago then he would have had the time necessary to gather the evidence and he would be being deported now. As soon as you come here illegally. You have a limited time to provide evidence that you've been trafficked or you are gone.
  21. Not sure what you mean by this. They will have legal representation. The legal representation will be aware of a deadline for appeal which is why now they are able to appeal at the very last minute in order to delay the flight. If they are given notice that they have to appeal for the sake of argument let's say seven days before deportation then there is enough time to assess the validity of the appeal and reject it so they are cleared to be deported as planned.
  22. Of course he did, they always do. It shouldn't be allowed. If you're making an appeal then it needs to be done earlier. If you miss the deadline to appeal then off you go. If you complain then tough you shouldn't have come here illegally.
  23. I'd certainly be looking to renegotiate the echr where right to family life is routinely abused. Probably in partnership with other countries who are keen to make changes as well. If it's Impossible then we will likely have no choice but to leave. I'd look to be a tougher with some of these countries as well. If they don't assist in taking back illegal citizens then they shouldn't be receiving substantial aid from us and we certainly shouldn't be making life easy for them. We need to be a lot more serious about tackling the problem.
  24. You misunderstand me. Their activist lawyers deliberately put in last minute appeals to delay their deportation. If we tell them they are getting deported in a week then they have to put an appeal in with enough time to process and reject it and then get sent off on the flight as planned. No last minute appeals and gunging up of the system.
  25. If they're scheduled to depart on a flight then give them a time limit to appeal. Any appeal needs to be done and dusted to allow time for the flight to leave with the people on board.
