The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Half the problem is that Starmer just isn't an inspiring person. It feels like when Theresa May was in charge with no inspiration and nothing to make people feel good about themselves and their situation. -
I would say we have an absolutely tiny chance of survival but one big positive is if it really has been the system stifling us, the potential is there to get a lot better. It's not as if we were performing to our maximum and the players just weren't up to it.

Loads of positives from that second half which is really all you can ask for with three days since the last game. Fair bit to build on there.

Exactly. "we are nothing like the evil Tories, we actually care. The adults are back in chance and you can trust the government again." ahem... -
I assume the bloke has an ego. I'm addition he was unknown in the West and owning a football club will massively raise his profile which I assume would benefit his other business interests.

Is it my imagination Or have I finally found something worth living for? I was looking for some action But all I found was Fernandes and Danny Rohl.

Danny rohl's red and white army we hate pompey.

I agree. Seems like an odd thing to do if they weren't fairly sure which way we were leaning.

I listened to the rest is politics this week and although Alistair Campbell is undoubtedly a bellend, what he says about Labour being unable to tell a good story or talk about things in a positive way is dead on. I'm surprised by how amateurish their communication strategy has felt. Surely they should be focusing on their successes and talking about how they will be making everything better rather than just talking about how they know every single thing they are doing is terrible but it's not their fault and we should blame the tories? They have had some successes over the past months - few as they are - yet they've barely focused on them at all. Seems like an odd way to play it unless they think they can just sit around looking morose for the next 12 months until the economy picks up and everyone just forgets about it. Starmer has the worst drop in the polls for a new pm ever. If that's not a failure of communication strategy then I don't know what is. -
If they had looked like that I'd be running in the opposite direction...

I agree with you they don't deserve compensation but bit of an own goal really to be so vociferous in support and then renege as soon as you get in power. If your promises are worthless when you're out of power then why should anyone ever listen to anything you say in opposition? -

Also Streeting signing the waspi woman pledge in 2017. Labour are pissing off an awful lot of different groups. -

That would be hilarious and a very saints thing to do.

Is like to see Sulemana given a run of a few games where he is encouraged to run with the ball and use his pace. Might be useless but I haven't seen much of him in a team that plays to his strengths.
-
Indeed. Using that logic, no one would have wanted naresca before he walked the league with Leicester and is now a big success at Chelsea.
-
I must admit Corberan is my least favoured choice. Not convinced he's markedly better than Martin.
-
Reported by who? Seems outlandish.

I don't think thousands will be bankrupted, many affected will just sell their farms and not do farming anymore. It's what happens once farms have been sold that is a concern.

Yes most of the players are not of the required quality for 17th and above. Yes we have been unlucky in some games and arguably deserved a few more points here and there. The players absolutely are of the quality to be on more than five points after almost half a season. They are better than getting humped by teams who play their reserve strikers just so they can score a hatful. They are of a better quality than the most mistakes leading to goals in a premier league season ever and potentially heading for the worst team in the history of the league. That's why Martin should have left quite a few games ago.

Selling: Kwp Onuachu ABK - Tiny fee with big sell on Bin off Cornet Maybe give the new manager a look but otherwise sell BBD Maybe get a striker in to bed in for next year. That would be the perfect window for me.

What situations can the fans accept with the new manager?
hypochondriac replied to Nolan's topic in The Saints
This basically. I'd like us to end up closer to 17th than we are right now if possible. I'd like someone who can organise a defence and maybe eke out a 1-0 win or two. Like you say, being able to change tactics if something isn't working is vital. I'd also add more consistency with players. Dropping Aribo for example when he was playing well and scored, having a different backline every week, Amo Ameyew looking like our best player in preseason and then barely getting any game time, Onuachu never getting a look in for months when he looked a decent option. -
Yep. Amo Ameyew must play, maybe players like Smallbone and Bree. Sell kwp in jan if we can, sell Sulemana and ABK too. Championship team of New keeper Bree bednarek wood manning/Taylor Downes Charles Armstrong Aribo Amo Ameyew Archer Should win us a fair amount with the right manager. Let's get that team playing together a fair amount now.

Israel is the only state that matters to Israel. Their priority is keeping themselves safe and stopping their neighbours from attacking them. Quite right too and any nation would do the same faced with the aggression they have had.
