So sorry to hear your sad loss Daren. Trust me, you will feel her with you at every game.
-
Sorry if discussed, etc. but does any one know if Wilkins is still with us?

Quite an over reaction. These are all good players and we should be pleased to have them in this league. Pretty obvious we are devoid of any leadership. Maybe a new manager will change this????????????? Come on. the night always looks darkest just before the dawn. Have faith. We are Southampon f.f.s. surely you didnt believe it was all going to be easy this season.

If this forum is any reflection of the over all Southampton fan base we do not deserve success. There were many that actually thought M.O.N. was a real possability. Very arrogant. Some of the abuse and unfounded negative comments about Cortese is bordering on pathetic and actually quite offensive. I know the point of a forum is to comment but too many of the comments are simply ridiculous. Dont get me wrong, we have enough to be concerned about but is it not possible to get some perspective. I bet if we won the next three games the same people will be saying we will win the league by a mile. I for one think we will be in the top 6 by the end of the season and Cortese will be better equipped next season, because i am sure he will have learned a lot of lessons over the past few months. Our squad has not become as poor as our results have shown and although i do not think we will immediately start winning every game it is not all doom and gloom. We do have one of the best squads in the division, fact and maybe time will prove me wrong, but i do have faith in Cortese to get it right in the long run.

What makes me feel positive about the appointment is the unanimous reaction of the s****horpe supporters. How often do managers leave with such strong support from the fans. Lets be patient, give the guy a chance, we just might have made a very good appointment.

If Shearer wants the job, give it to him. He is a born winner, will be instantly respected by all the players. Just offer him the job ........now!

Interesting comment about Les Reed there as a sort of dir ector of football but they call it something else didnt sound quite right. Also think the fact he has spoken about interview shows a lack of judgement. Particularly if he knows anything about N.C. He will not be the next Southampton manager.

Ian Dowie would 100% definately be a mistake.

We need someone with a proven record, which is why Zola, great guy that he is would not be a safe choice. Howe i also feel is a risk although his credentials at the moment are probably better than Zola. Brown has shown what he can do but is it enough? Keegan if he was interested would be a good choice right now as the players need a lift and he could certainly get the feel good factor back, but could this be one return too many for him, would he be hungry enough? 100% no chance M.O.N. who are we kidding. Hope we can get new guy in tomorrow, have a sneaky feeling it will be a surprise. Please be a good surprise!!

I wonder if Pardew will turn up on sky at the week end. A bit strange we have not heard even a whisper from him, or "sources close to" Surely new manager will at least be in the stands on saturday.

Cortese did cost us last nights game. I can only hope he can pay us back by recruiting the right manager very quickly.
-
One safe bet is that Cortese will not be the cause of any leaks regarding appointment before the event. I also bet that. 1. any odds offered from bookmakers will not be based on any factual knowledge but 100% speculation. 2. We will hear about it first on the O.S.

Suggest timing was forced by the sudden death of M.L and would have happened earlier. Personally sorry it has happened as believe Pardew would have got us promotion this year. However, this is where we really start to find out what Cortese is about. At this stage we have no option but to put our trust in Cortese but who he is about to appoint will have in my opinion nearly as big an inpact on Southampton f.c. in the next 5 years as M.LSS purchase of our club.

Official Statement from Cortese about future

Well said. -
NickG Its a great shame this site has been ruined by a certain person, i admire the way you attempt to respond, as I like many others have just given up being a contributing member of the forum.

Have total sympathy with o.p. It would be great if it could be a forum for discussing all saints related items in a reasonable way, but it isnt and probably cant be. I doubt i am in a minority of people who simply log on regularly through day to check if any saints related breaking news, transfer activity etc. I also scan the threads but rarely get involved. This is mainly because i feel that they end up becoming futile arguements between wind up merchants and the mentally ill. I must confess that in the past i have responded aggressively to some of these posters [not sure what catagory they come under], and in doing so become part of the problem with this site. So of late, due to probably a very small number of posters [mainly one actually] i am very much a dormant member.

Markus Liebherr RIP. All tributes here please.
croydonsaint replied to camdijk's topic in Golden Posts
Marcus Liebherr was a kindly figure that we had all clearly taken to our hearts. Life allways has to move on but this is a real blow, particularly of course to his family. What i would love to see, even if its only for one season, that everyone gets 100% behind the team. The most fitting tribute would be for all of us to suspend our whining and just blindly support the team through thick and thin. His passing must surely put the petty moans that any of us may have had properly into perspective. With the spirit of Marcus in mind c.o.y.r -

Very sad news, will always be grateful for what he started. Sincere condolances to his family. -
Why were so many of our "best first XI" in the league missing ?
croydonsaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
. If ever there was a bigger w an ker on gods earth? Centre stage again, what a plank. Can we not just get him off? Centre stage again Alpine -
Just a question. Why does anyone on here give a.s any time. This is my opinion only, but i honestly feel he pollutes this site. I cant work out if hes a scared little boy, whose fear comes out in his constant negativity or he is simply a wind up merchant enjoying the attention. If he said anything intelligent ever [not that there would be any danger of that] i would have to ignore it because of what he is.

last season, not only did we have minus 10 points we pretty much had no team.So not surprisingly we had a terrible start. Any one reading too much in to the preseason results are being foolish. Pre season is simply about getting fit. We will not have as bad a start as last season, surely no one thinks that. Why cant the negatives and doom and gloom merchants bite their tongues and wait and see. I am sure the season will not be smooth sailing, we are the saints f.f.s. but if we are not in the top 3 at the end of the season, then i would worry. I reckon we have good reason to be looking forward to a great season ahead.
-
All said and done this is not a particularly hard league to get out of. Surely what ever the case Pardew should be given until December and then by all means review his position. If we are top 2, then lets carry on, if not then fair enough lets consider [please note i said consider], making a change. Not sure what making a change now would achieve. It would, i would imagine send all the wrong signals to the players, which were mainly Pardews recruits. I am this thread is responding to lazy journalism, trying to fill a few column inches. Would be nice at the end of the season for Cortese to give his end of year report and hopefully some strong backing to his management team who under the circumstances i dont think have done a bad job.
-
last six games we have made 5 points up on huddersfield and 7 points on colchester. with one game in hand and our better goal difference it is not over yet....... Very unlikely but definately not over. Really think we have to win every game to stand an outside chance.......
-
I think there hopefully is an element of Cortese going through a steep learning curve this year,. Its a different game looking after a very rich mans investment portfolio than running a football club. Hes obviously been succesful in what hes done previously but i feel ive seen a few signs of, perhaps arrogance [not necessarily a bad things, most succesful people have this] and maybe some naivity in his expectations. I hope this doesnt lead him to make unnecessary changes.
-
No, not at all. For what it is worth you have misunderstood the point i was making.
