  1. Or is it £30m including add ons with the basic fee paid over 5 years with £5-10m up front. £30m cash is one thing instalments are quite anther. Lallana £25m £15m over 5 years and £10m dubious add ons, no way.
  2. This story stands along with the Southampton meltdown in January and the whole team leaving in May. Great journalism by the Sun. Headline should have read " Naïve 18 year old footballer led on by unscrupulous glamour model selling her story yet again"
  3. I get the feeling that Roy Hodgson doesn't really believe in a way to play. As 4-4-2 is now deemed out of date he seems lost. If you play 4-2-3-1 you don't play it like England did. The 2 are defensive the fullbacks attack wide the front four interchange and the ball gets passed. England played the 2 off the cuff the front 4 tried to run with the ball the full backs pushed up and the 2 left the central defenders exposed and Baines just stood and watched while Suarez dropped off Jagielka. The moves that entailed passing quickly ended in goals.
  4. Basically he picked his best eleven as he saw it, however he made no effort to pick players that formed a blend that would make the team performance better than the sum of the parts. We were just an eleven slung together. Some managers get it Hodgson doesn't.
  5. Hodgson is a very average manager. His team yesterday looked way out of date, passing slowly at the back with little or no movement then players at the front running up blind alleys. The tempo was slow, the pressing non-existent, the lack of movement and passing up front made it easy for Uruguay to block us and win the ball. Internationally Sturridge might score the odd goal but along with Sterling and Welbeck lacks awareness. We squander opportunities because we have no clinical finishers. Those three forwards need too many chances to score a goal and flatter to deceive. In football terms they are thick.
  6. When Cavani received the ball before chipping to Suarez for the first goal Baines was just outside level with Jagielka. He could see Suarez and could have challenged him but when Suarez dropped off Jagielka, Baines was still standing watching and made no attempt to defend and give cover to Jagielka. He was still stationary when the ball was in the net. He might be good on the ball but he is a **** poor defender. He was the last man in the line, the least he should have done as Suarez was the threat was block him off and challenge, spectating was crass.
  7. The 25% was imposed by an FA Tribunal.
  8. Not under the rules. Gentleman's agreement only, so that rules Liverpool out.
  9. That settles it, if we want to sell, anybody who wants to go to Liverpool won't be transferred until after 16th August.
  10. In a way AL has been suckered by Liverpool. They thought they could railroad Saints with a three tenths of f-all fee on the never never by minimising the cash outlay and add ons they might not have to pay. The fee will have to give Saints his value as a current England international plus the 25% sell on. It just isn't going to happen unless they pay about £25m up front.
  11. The quote was "A lot of strikers would take that" ie 193 goals in 535 appearances.
  12. His scoring record for a centre back wasn't too shabby either, 193 goals in 535 games. A lot of strikers would take that.
  13. Whilst RK's management and coaching experience and expertise is all important, I think when it comes to dealing with players it does no harm to have a stack of caps, medals and a high class playing record having played for the likes of Barcelona, Ajax and Holland.
  14. I don't think we should go down the road of playing uncooperative players in the reserves. I personally would fine them for their behaviour and make them run for hours on end without a football and fine them if they didn't.
  15. As long as we screw a lot more than the players are worth to us from Liverpool that's fine by me. Liverpool however can't afford what we want so the players may well stay. Or if they don't we can laugh all the way to the bank. Carry on tapping.
  16. And yet David Villa said that he owes Pellegrini for changing City to a passing game in which he flourished. Mancini hardly represents the Southampton way.
  17. Well he is here until 2018 unless the club think his inflated fee makes him worth selling. So in a few words you either pay or **** off. He isn't going to kick off because not playing won't get him in the England team with the Euro qualifiers up next.
  18. Liverpool or anyone else that wants to buy one of our players is going to have to pay through the nose. Nobody is going anywhere for their value. Because of the long contracts a massive fee up front will be the requirement. Liverpool have done nothing yet that convinces me that they want to or can afford to do that and pay inflated wages. Sadly for Liverpool to buy Lambert, Lallana and Lovren it is pretty much going to cost them their complete £60m 2014 budget.
  19. These matters will be resolved. Firstly all our players have a value but secondly because they are on long contracts we don't have to sell and thirdly if we do decide to let anyone leave it will be for a fee well over the value of the player. It's all very well Liverpool, MU, Spurs, Uncle Tom Cobley and all bidding, but they are going to have to pay enormous premiums for any of our players. That in itself may well mean nobody leaves or if they do we more than afford to replace them. Liverpool are a joke as their bids are on the cheap plus unsettling the players. Pay up or **** off.
  20. They seem to be having the same problem reaching agreement with Seville. If Suarez goes it doesn't matter who they buy they will struggle to finish top six. Either way they aren't going to get anybody from us without paying over the odds.
  21. I suppose this is going to mean Liverpool bidding a fiver down and a pound a week trying to eke out their budget. Unless they are going to give Southampton their whole budget they won't be buying too many of our players. Probably haven't worked that out yet.
  22. What I didn't realise was one of the main reasons for players not wanting to ask for a transfer is that when they sign contracts the signing on fee is paid in instalments each year. Lallana has 3 payments left and Shaw 4. If they don't ask for a transfer they receive the balance outstanding before leaving. If they hand in a transfer request they lose this plus bonuses etc. In my view we shouldn't negotiate with clubs like LFC and MU who are attempting to take players we would rather keep until the player has put in a written transfer request. We can always say no.
  23. On the other hand it would certainly concentrate his mind if his local hero status was no more. However I sense Saints are more than ready to let him go at the right price.
  24. Bill, I'd like to see him go, the fee is better than he is.
  25. So we hire one that plays the way we do.
