Rodriguez has to be priced at his peak value. So £30m is a decent ball park. Either that will kill it or Liverpool will end up paying something in that region. How valuable to us as a player. Sad to say for half the season no use at all. It is a serious injury which required surgery. Full fitness will take time. Even if he is ready to play the second half of the season often there are a procession of other compensatory injuries that occur, various pulls, reactions, even set backs in the knee itself that could limit appearances. It may be next season before he is available fully. IMO if a bid comes in that is £25m+ we should take it. Realistically his contract is running down, his new 5 year contract is unsigned which means to me we won't get another full season out of him as we would have to let him go next summer or risk a Bosman free the following year.

Is it anyone's fault that players are leaving. Without doubt yes. I know why Adam Lallana went he at least doubled his money. As for the others it doesn't take a genius to work out it is the insane money they are being offered. A footballer lives with the fact that he may get a career ending injury in his next game or training session. A short career so in the hard monetary world they are going to look out for number one and take the money. The people who decided that they would not pay stupid wages are the one's who are at fault and right they are. The inflated fees we have received for the players more than makes up for losing them. Of course they can be replaced and probably improved on. We now have to do that and cover the injury factor we suffered with last season. We may well come out of this summer stronger as a squad and wealthier with the transfer and Staplewood debt paid off. The transfer fees plus the TV money and other income will amount to better than £200m. With that we can bring in more good players. Tadic looks a cracking buy and Pelle isn't too shabby either.

He seemed pretty sensible to me. I wouldn't think he tried to influence him. I think from what he said it was very much down to the money. It did come over that LR wasn't respected and that from their point of view he wasn't much use.

To all those that are agonising at the moment there may well be a day of reckoning not that far away. Pochettino and especially Rogers are now under pressure. Lallana, Lambert, Lovren, and Shaw will find themselves under the biggest spotlight of their lives. Fail to deliver outstanding performances and they will suffer the consequences. A question will be answered, how much did the collective contribute to their performances and in the dog eat dog quest for top four will they cope. I for one am not convinced that their price is a true measure of their ability. Shaw is costly raw potential, if everything goes well MU's and England's left back for years to come. The others I'm not so sure.

It sounded from what was said that Liverpool had made their bid and unless we changed our position they were leaving it. Saints comment was bid was a long way short of valuation.
-
Sky, BBC South, Saints and Liverpool confirm tonight one bid turned down over three weeks ago and NO contact since.
-
Liverpool confirmed no contact to Sky at their training at Harvard Uni Boston. "It's now in Southampton's court" as their bid was turned down.
-
Lovren - No bids apart from one over three weeks ago which was nowhere near enough, turned down and haven't been in contact since, (sky from Swindon)
-
On Sky from Swindon, Southampton say that they have had one bid about three weeks ago that was nowhere near his value and no contact since. Liverpool/media trying to pressure the player? Now confirmed by Sky SN from Liverpool in Boston.

On that front it seems to me we have to get a few decent signings in ASAP.

Lambert, Lallana, Shaw and Schneiderlin can hardly be players that were here because of Cortese's alleged promises. They have all been here since relegation to div 1. It was only last season that we raised our profile, the previous year we were in a relegation dogfight.

My head's already in Liverpool.

As Adam Lallana's father mentioned double their money.

I don't like the five players leaving any more than the next supporter. Last year we had a chemistry that in most games made the team perform well. If the five players were kept against their wills I maintain that there would have been no chemistry and we would have been on a slippery slope. Were these players as good individually as it appeared or were they effective because of the chemistry and blend? I am looking forward to next season because that question will be well and truly answered. Will Lovren be as effective without Shaw and the defensive midfielders or will it be that he isn't any better than Skrtl , Agger, or Sakho with Johnson, Gerrard and Henderson. Can Lallana fit in with the Liverpool forwards not accommodating his off the cuff idiosyncrasies. Will Lambert play much at all? Shaw I think will be the best but if he makes some of the mistakes he made for us I can't see the MU fans accepting it. Schneiderlin will be Schneiderlin, it's the way he plays but will it work. Football teamwork depends on the blend and there is no guarantee that blend will be there for those players. One thing they will have is a lot more money, but could there be a sting in the tail. Together they were good but separated there is no guarantee. If Saints buy sensibly and try and find a team that blends we could yet be a lot better than it looks at the moment.

Not the result. It was the way players were unable to adapt. Defenders giving the ball away, no defensive midfield and no pressing from the front. I could see what they were trying to do. If he doesn't get the players to buy into it he won't last until Christmas.

I watched the first half last night v Seattle Sounders 1-1 at half time. Spurs were dire at the back, Seattle could have scored five except for Friedl. They were making a very poor attempt at the Pochettino style. If they keep this up, he has problems.

Thank you for the comments. I must say that the club have brought this on themselves because of their wishy washy lack of positivity. A statement- No player will leave until the club have completed recruitment for this window and no negotiations will be considered for any player until then.

Lovren exposed and caught out v Spurs out left, two goals, Johnson against Sunderland stand out.
-
Reported about 23 US citizens on board. That'll concentrate the minds. If the Russian side did it I wouldn't mind betting they've been dealt with.

Photo of you both outside Solihull SC.

I think our default fee of at least £25m for players is good as it means the clubs coveting our players have to pay through the nose or back off.
-
If he is unfit get second opinion. If he is not contactable contact his agent, fine him the standard two weeks wages. If/when he turns up discipline him and fine him continuously as appropriate until he conforms.
-
If he is going get a replacement ASAP but don't let him go until just before deadline. Certainly not before 16th August.
-
Could well be the player on the right of the camera, he looks similar and his headphones are white as in the Croatian airport photo yesterday.
-
IMO now he has gone that's the way it should stay. We no longer have to accommodate him so players can be brought in that fit. He was a brilliant individual and one off but we nonetheless had to fit players around him. It won't be so easy for him at Liverpool.
