  1. I personally think that if Adam and or Luke want to leave and the club are getting north of £60m for them plus Lambert and Osvaldo then fine. As long as the club bring in a good manager and significantly strengthen we can come out of this stronger than last year. I think maybe the time is right as long as the fees are right to revamp the side.
  2. He posed the question to WS at MU match, either he or I posted it after. Pretty much in 379 & 400. He wasn't quoted as such.
  3. On another thread, Adam's father posed the question, if the lad is offered European football and to double his money what would you do? That is the situation.
  4. Lallana can want to leave but he needs to take on board LFC need to pay SFC valuation.
  5. I suspect if the move is blocked the next step is to sign a new improved contract.
  6. If a player is offered the chance to play in Europe and double his money it is very easy to wind him up if it looks like the move could be off. LFC and the LFC England players have this agenda and Hodgson needs to get a grip. If Adam get's too wrapped up in forcing a move he may well struggle. In the end it's up to SFC. Either way the BFC sell on isn't helping. Maybe BFC need to look at it as they might get nothing if we don't let him move.
  7. It's important that SFC play hardball now so that the rest of the players see it's not just a case if wanting to go. They have stated their position now stick to it.
  8. Bill, It may well be that Lallana was told that nobody was going until the new manager comes in and decides who he wants to keep. Therefore leading to reaction. I would have answered his call. It's the club's call. If they want to keep him it's up to them. He should have been asked how many more caps do you think you will get if there is a row and you aren't picked all season. He signed the five year contract and is well paid so he should honour that until LFC offer an acceptable fee. They are obviously stirring the pot and need a kick, Saints need to say LFC offers will not be considered if any more problems.
  9. Forget it. If they want him buy him, another mythical option to buy. He is more use to us here than on loan.
  10. You are absolutely right but we can look at Lambert, Lallana and Rodriguez as really good examples of players that score whatever league they are in. I think there are more around that can step up. Not cheap but not expensive either, Ings, Rhodes, Vokes for starters. We aren't going to replace Lambert with a clone as he is a one off as is Lallana but we can improve and strengthen by making us more incisive, a la Rodriguez up front.
  11. Provided we buy decent replacements does anybody really think we can't 1) replace Lambert, Lallana, Shaw and Osvaldo (has to go) and 2) further strengthen the squad with more very good players if we receive in the region of £60m on top of any transfer budget already allocated. Whatever the strengths of these players they all had weaknesses that we have all moaned about. Up front we could add the pace we are missing. I would like to see all the present players except Osvaldo stay and add a number of players giving pace/goals in the front four, another CB, LB and GK. But personally I think nobody is irreplaceable. One caveat no more prima donna foreign stars that are over priced. I would prefer young British players in the mould of Caulker, Ings etc. so that we can foster the spirit already in the club. Alternatively value foreign players in the mould of Bony, Michu etc.
  12. If Krueger now turns down any bids until we appoint a manager and then a decision is made to let AL and LS go for about £60m and keep the rest of the team, I think we could rectify the lack of pace up front and strengthen the side at the back and in goal and in the end be in a better place than last season with more depth. That doesn't mean I'm happy with the present apparent drift.
  13. Andy, I think you have got Saint Charlie confused.
  14. It didn't bother me too much at the time as the other stuff was positive but fell apart with MP going.
  15. If Lambert has been talking to Liverpool for 5 months, **** him, pull the plug on the transfer. I felt he deserved the move but the more I think about it the more I'm sure this has been hatched in the England camp. Furthermore tell Liverpool they can forget signing any Saints players.
  16. The problem may be Cortese micro-managed and nothing happened without his thumb print on it. If Krueger delegates without interference that is a polar change, it worked with Cortese and the players knew who was steering the ship, however they may not buy into the present apparent rudderless version.
  17. It wasn't Ron, he wasn't present but Eric was.
  18. Bill, our friend on the inside the last time I spoke to him and he should know, was very scathing, called him a weak man who had great difficulty coming to decisions and was particularly sarcastic about the end of season statement. In addition it does look that Krueger is seen as an outsider in football terms and out of his depth. (The same accusation was levelled at Woodward at the time.) Maybe Krueger needs to rein Reed in and get a HIGH QUALITY manager in NOW. It's all very well delegating but he is the bloody Chairman and he needs to start being one. Furthermore Reed's record out of youth development in senior club football is abysmal and maybe that is what is winding the players up.
  19. I'm not happy either but just maybe he didn't know about Lambert. I just hope it isn't Reed clearing a space for his could be world class Mayuka and his and Cortese/Pochettino's best buy Osvaldo.
  20. For God's sake who would tell Rickie he couldn't go to Liverpool. He would be just about useless for us if we stopped him. That's why he's going.
  21. Player's comments noted by Blackmore are consistent with a view stated by an inside source.
  22. Reed was quoted during 12/13 season that he thought Mayuka would be world class. This could be a deluded move to clear up a space for him to play regularly.
  23. In my opinion the 'Southampton way' will be a pre condition of any new manager. I personally think this will exclude a whole raft of popular names including Moyes. In fact anybody with a different philosophy. I think it will be another high quality coach that is already experienced and wants to play the Southampton way, fitting the present staff perfectly.
  24. The club restating their ambitions along with strengthening plus a bit of contract tweaking should help provided the new manager and staff are of sufficient quality. We have to assume at the moment it won't be someone like Moyes or anyone else who will want the club to play his way but someone already comfortable with the high pressing Barcelona template that Cortese committed us to, already seen as the Southampton way.
  25. We need RK to make a statement. A new manager will be appointed and any player he wants to keep will not be sold. In the meantime there will be no bids considered.
