  1. The bloody team has to be sorted if we are going to beat Notts Forest. Something along the lines of:- --------------------Davis Cork-------Perry------------Pearce-------Skacel James------Euell------------Surman-------BWP --------------------Lallana --------------------McGoldrick Assuming Schneiderlin injured, Holmes not ready, could consider leaving out Lallana and play Euell in the hole with Wotton and Surman in midfield. We need a right side, Lallana has recently been picked there, but doesn't play there, so it's striker or out as far as I'm concerned.
  2. He is destroying the shape of the team, exposing our right side to counter attack, making us totally lobsided, now a liability. If he won't play in his assigned position and for the good of the team he needs to be sorted or dropped.
  3. If he is nominated for the B team he can't be in the A team, that's why.
  4. We are probably the only team in the relegation area who won't strengthen during the transfer window, really scary.
  5. Eric Day, Only 5' 6" 10st 7lbs 422 appearances 158 goals one of the best for 10 1/2 years. Aged 25 before his first league game because of the war. Averaged 40 games a season. He deserves to be picked.
  6. Just to sum up my criticism of Lallana, mentioned once in the Pink report, not mentioned at all in this one. The only thing that counts is end product and McGoldrick, Lallana, Robertson are lacking in this department, despite JP's confident listing of all his non goalscorers.
  7. Win or lose, it was a self indulgent waste of money we don't have.
  8. If he doesn't buck his ideas up and play where he is picked, he won't be playing first team football here either.
  9. Short of money, facing administration, people made redundant, 75 mile coach trip, didn't make sense. That's why we have "world class facilities" at Staplewood. Certainly not hindsight, I thought it was a daft waste of money.

    Same hamstring injury.
  11. Yes
  12. They are not wrong, and as for balancing the books, two nights in a hotel before the Crystal Palace game, for a squad of 22 plus staff and hangers on, only to surrender in the first 10 mins. That worked then.
  13. If these players knew they would be slaughtered by the manager on the spot, then left to ponder in the reserves until they knew it was obligatory to play where they are told, they wouldn't play like this. When a 20 year old player is consulted about the selected team to see what he thinks, it is taking things too far.
  14. The blame has to be stated. The team is picked and it's two wingers are a vital component. We try a number of players in the wide right postion whose view of themselves is central. Instead of playing for the team in the selected position, both McGoldrick and Lallana come inside and play narrow. It is the fundamental problem for the team, yet the stupid idiots, both management and players can't see it. We hear all sorts of excuses but it is obvious they are groping in the dark and don't know what is going wrong. The above may not look so important, but it is the one major reason for a lot of our problems. We are totally left sided and have no right side attack or defence and this is being exploited time and time again. Defence:- The wide man is the first line of defence. Picks up the attacking fullback, tracks back and helps out the defence. Midfield:- The two widemen out on the touchline are the main option for counter attack, if one isn't there it funnels our attack left, alternatively another player has to run 30 yds to get there. Whilst he is doing that the opponents are getting goal side, again we are attacking a massed defence. Even worse we start to play the ball sideways and backwards in front of the reformed defence and are going nowhere, eventually lose the ball and are murdered by a quick counter attack, invariably down our open right, that sucks the remaining defenders across and how many times this season have we conceded goals outnumbered on the far post. Attack:- On the right with the wide man gone missing, we can't counter attack quickly enough to get behind the defence. We only cross from in front of the defence which is most of the time easily dealt with. The fact that the other attackers don't bother making forward runs is because they don't expect us to get behind the defence. When we do get down the left the right wide man is always sucked in on the near post and no one is available to attack the deeper cross on the far post. I could go on, however unless the wide men play on the line, out to in, we are going to underperform.
  15. I live in Southampton, father English, mother Irish came here when I was 4. Born in Portlaoighs, lived near Athy. The Derry comes from another theme.
  16. The coach was English.
  17. I said by comparison, I could have said nowhere near or vastly inferior.

Just keep bringing him back too early.
  19. Lallana needs to play in a position he wants to play in and that suits him. He lacks the discipline to play in this team at the moment. Wide he doesn't create or score and doesn't support his full back by tracking back, the same in the hole. If he isn't delivering, clever play going round in circles, that doesn't create anything of value, is worthless. He has been told by one of the senior coaches to stop running around all over the pitch and pick out the space that creates and hurts the opposition.
  20. Both Lallana at present and McGoldrick recently were picked wide but never played there. We never get to the byeline, get in early crosses, break quickly, create anything or score on the right side far post, also expose our right fullback and right side defence continuously. It's obvious, so why aren't the management doing something about it?
  21. I know you weren't. This sums it up very nicely.
  22. BWP has scored 3 goals from wide, and generally gives us width on that side. Because we have Lallana sucked in to the near post, we have no attacking threat on the far post when crosses come from the left Apart from Lloyd James we don't do crosses from the right. The problem is what to do until Holmes and Dyer come back.
  23. Terry Paine, the best crosser with either foot we've ever had. A brilliant football brain and could dribble. Fernandez in comparison was an under 10 tyro standard who went round in circles, and almost never got to the byeline, always checking back.

    The Front Six

It's an absolute waste of time picking Lallana wide, he just will not play there. He wanders everywhere but and destroys the shape, opening up our defensive right and neutering our right side attacking options. It is probably the main reason we can't win at home. McGoldrick was just the same when picked wide. I personally would not be sorry to see him leave. It wouldn't be quite so bad if he was performing and scoring goals.
