Why is it these days that when you are losing an argument/debate, that you throw in the 'race card'. It is the last resort of the defeated. The reason Puel is not liked, is not because he is French. It is because his style of football is boring. He defends with 11 men and attacks with 1. He plays possession football, when 90% of that possession is amongst the back 5. He only just managed 8th place in a league where the were 7 decent/good teams and 13 poor ones. The cup run was against poor teams who put out second string 11's. (Including Arsenal) until we reached the semi's, where we met a team whom everyone had figured out how to beat. Hanging on and getting a breakaway goal. Puel's record is poor, in this league and the French league. If you want boring football and mid-table mediocacy, carry on with Puel. To quote the Bible (Not often done on here I know). "You are niether hot nor cold, so I will spit you out of my mouth".

I know my opinion counts for nothing. But in a word. BORING Puel has introduced The Saints to boring predictable football.

If Saints lose to Norwich, and Liverhampton, the voices of discontent will only inevitably get louder. Personally I dislike this boring, turgid, predictable football. It would not be so bad if we looked like winning or even drawing, but we don't. As soon as someone scores against us that is it. And as for Puel excessive squad changes. No justification for the extent of changes. In the past when we played this style we at least looked liked winning. Now we don't even look like scoring. To win you must score. How true the rumours of player unrest are, I don't know. But I would not be surprised if there was some substance in them. Sorry LR I don't take on board your PR ... Puel is not the manager in style or ability for this club, in this league.

From What I've Been Told Today....

It is possible. Boring football, not playing his best players, losing the support of senior players. -
I am not ITK. However it would appear to me that from my position on the terraces that several players FF, JF and others, VVD included, are not in total confidence or agreement with Puel and his style of play. Could anyone more ITK. be able to com firm or refute my opinion. Because that is all I have, a feeling or opinion.

Bored rigid.... We have gone from a team that last season on our day could give any team in the league a good game, to a team that can't even give West Brom a good game. Slow, boring, predictable, negative football. That is easy to defend against. Where are the 16 points we need to save us from relegation coming from, if we lose to The Baggies at home... Had 3 very easy games to get us to a semi- final that a lot of people are not bothering to attend, because they know the first decent team we will meet in this cup, will rip us a new one. Puel has taken a quick, counter attacking, threatening team, and turned it into a lethargic one dimension turgid @@@@@.

As a small addition to this. Whilst doing some family history research, I discovered an ancestor who was from Holyrood in Southampton, who had a contract to supply Naval vessels with provisions in Portsmouth. This on more than one occasion caused problems due to the 'friction' between the two neighbouring Ports. In one incidence even ending up with an appearance in court. This was in the early to mid 1600's. So this rivalry between Ports goes back a long, long way.

A friend of mine, life long Saints supporter, has lived in Israel many years. Watches Saints on few visits home, but naturally desperately wants to watch Saints at Be'er Sheva. Due to her not having season ticket she having severe difficulty getting ticket. I can get her one through my wife's season ticket, However, Is there any security names etc. On these away tickets, How do you collect them? Will there be ticket checks at stadium etc. -
The trouble is opinions vary from one extreme to another. From the bed-wetters to the happy-clappers. Most people are somewhere in the middle, but as usual those at the extremes get the most notice. I am somewhere in the middle I think player wise we are not too far off. Tactic wise I think the diamond is not working and a revert to last seasons formation, with the players we currently have, would be better. But, my experience of football has been limited to the terraces... So what do I know?

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day
landford.saint replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
We are all on here because at some time in our lives (usually when we were young) we caught the infection that is Southampton Football Club. I have not for many years been so apprehensive at the beginning of a season. I am worried our strike force is inadequate. I am worried our midfield is lightweight. I am worried our manager is stuck on an unfamiliar formation, and is trying to squeeze players into this formation regardless of their strengths and weaknesses. Now I acknowledge that last week, was our first serious properly match in this formation, and we were missing Jose and Ryan, but we were in the first half awful. The second half we did improve a bit when Hojbjerg came on (quality signing btw) but we were still no more than average against a poor Watford. I can see us struggling this season. Mid table at best. Against Manure tonight I can see us getting beat 4or 5 nil. -

I really like Heisenberg. His trolling though not expert, hooks loads of 'fish'. His tongue in cheek comments bring loads of indignant replies. Keep it up Heisenberg, I for one appreciate the humour you bring to this board. As an aside, Is your handle Heisenberg taken from 'Breaking Bad' or the quantum mechanic physicist. -

To be honest I listened to his press conference, and I am no more knowledgable after than before on any topic. Most of the time I had no idea what he was saying. -
Fonte is not going. He is a family man, a settled situation, a son happy in a local school, and a wife and younger child happy at home. He can't really believe the 'luck' that has come his way so late in his career, and he is more than content with his life here in Wiltshire, ( and work life in Hampshire). He has a career available to him at Staplewood when he hangs his boots up. Of course money changes everything, but, Money ISN'T everything.

So somebody trolling on Twitter. Lol.

Source .. Proof Or just rumour?

I am not ITK. I know no one that is ITK. I know no one that knows no one that is ITK. However, if I was a betting man I would put my money on MP being our next manager. Since The Echo has been allowed back into St Mary's they have been the local feed for club leaks. Their latest news basically says 'Wait a while'. There are often hitches in appointments and timescales may slip a little. I personally just think this is the clubs way of soothing expectations prior to the announcement of MP. As for Klinsman... Ha ha ha ha ha ha etc.
-
If, and a big IF, MP becomes are new manager, do you think that players currently at the club will be more likely to stay, or does money and 'big club' image still a bigger pull. Linked to this, do you think that MP will make SFC more attractive to players considering a move.
-
So to sum up. No one outside those in the club who need to know, know anything. Therefore, Newspapers print any old name as a new manager revelation. Internet warriors argue over this new manager revelation. Yet, Still no one knows what is really going behind the door of the people that matter.

You sussed it TS... For Everton to reach 6th place, they are buying the manager and players who finished 6thlace the season before. Simple. As SOG said above. What are the going to say. "Koeman was an arrogant muppet, and we are all chuffed to see the back of him" Even if true they wil just tow he party line and say how they will miss him.

Sort of shows how p!ssed off they are with Ronald the Rat

Pelle Set to Leave For China - Telegraph
landford.saint replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
From what I know, this is purely 'paper talk' to fill a few lines. It's an open secret that Pelle and Koeman did not always see eye-to-eye. (Likewise Mane and Tadic). Pelle also wants to return and play in his homeland, Italy. From what I can ascertain, Pelle is happy at Southampton, wants European football, and is waiting to see whom the new manager is before making any decisions. However, if, an Italian club, (Lazio has been rumoured) made an acceptable offer he would move there.
