England would probably have struggled a bit against Japan playing that well.
Whether Colombia tomorrow will be any easier... well we'll just have to wait and see.
I reckon the possibility of scoring from a set piece to end the match there gave them a better chance than extra time would have.
Obviously it backfired in the worst possible way, but I wouldn't say it was the wrong call.
Blimey.
Belgium looked dead and buried there, but their first goal going in by millimetres past the bar (probably not meant?) and suddenly they had belief again. Then they dragged themselves back into it.
Can't help but feel for Japan after that.
Fine margins.
I reckon this is the best World Cup I've ever watched personally.
Always disappointing to lose but you do feel like Belgium dropped a bit of a clanger and gave us the result we wanted.
We didn't exactly turn to the bench desperate to turn it around.
Definitely another plus for VAR that game
Right result after South Korea should have had a penalty.
Difficult to believe Germany have thrown it away after digging out another chance for themselves the way they did in the last game, but they just haven't turned up this tournament.
VAR hasn't been anywhere near perfect, but one thing I've liked is that referees have been more willing to give penalties against the big teams, knowing they've got VAR to bail them out of mistakes.
Before they'd have been scared to give them and more often than not unjustly given the benefit of the doubt.

Investigation into whether VAR should have awarded Kane those penalties.
