  1. Good goal by Eriksen VAR intervention certainly seemed a lot less clear and obvious than the rugby tackle(s) on Kane.
  2. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-cup/2018/06/19/fifa-refuses-comment-failure-var-award-harry-kane-two-penalties/ Investigation into whether VAR should have awarded Kane those penalties.
  3. All about the results at this stage
  4. Bloody hell. Get IN! We deserve it but jeez we've made hard work of it.
  5. Bertrand must be chewing the furniture watching Young here.
  6. Bloody hell. You could argue that Walker wasn't clear and obvious to overturn, but missing the rugby tackle on Kane is ridiculous.
  7. Ok, I like how we're playing so far!
  8. Looks like a pretty sparse crowd, although was always going to struggle with England playing in the World Cup today.
  9. Regardless of us having a bad season, Bournemouth are competing with us because they've improved an unbelievable amount over the last few years.
  10. Seems to me it's more the commentary on VAR that's been a bit of a shambles. VAR seems to me to have worked more or less exactly how it was intended to so far.
  11. Yeah, definitely think VAR has been a good thing at this World Cup.
  12. Seems weird to be going into a tournament with England as one of the better prepared sides. Now to see whether we can actually turn that into some decent performances.
  13. Who's said he would only move 5-20 miles?
  14. That was a bloody good game of football! I fear my chances of best goal sweepstake are gone with that third Spanish goal. Reminded me of Martina's against Arsenal
  15. Yep, that makes a few contenders for goal of the tournament!
  16. 16 people in our work sweepstake. One seeded team each, one non-seeded team. My seeded team... Russia. Still, goal of the tournament is one of the pots and goes to the team it's scored for. Slight outside chance with that second goal
  17. Maybe he wants to create that association in his own mind, so that it's linked to something positive for him, and not a reminder of what happened to his father? Everyone has to deal with this sort of stuff in their own way, and I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like. I'm not going to judge him on something like this.
  18. Whether they like it or not, players are looked up to and emulated. They're paid unbelievably highly for a highly public role, and with that comes the expectation that they act as role models. That said, seems like The Sun have well and truly stepped in it here. Ironically, they may well have helped Sterling out a bit, by making sure the story behind the tattoo is widely public knowledge before they have a chance to draw their own conclusions.
  19. If you want to make that argument, you'll be arguing with a LOT of people. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/10595457/Schadenfreude-is-the-dominant-emotion-for-football-fans.html https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/university-study-examines-schadenfreude-in-football-fans-300012052.html
  20. It's been there two hours already... can't believe he hasn't seen sense and deleted it yet
  21. That was the most fun I've ever had from a Real Madrid win
  22. Holy **** I hope that's the winner!!!
  23. https://mobile.twitter.com/SouthamptonFC/status/1000124405953933312 Heh. 'Sparky'.
  24. Unlikely any time soon as the top four associations are now all guaranteed four CL spots. Especially with English teams doing well this year, that'll have our coefficient pretty good for a few years. In any case, I'd like Real to win with a goal by Bale.
  25. If you want to query an infraction, normally the best way to do it is to reply to the infraction itself. That way I get a notification about it that I won't miss, instead of it being in a thread that I might have missed. That being said, I admit that I read it completely wrong and completely missed that it was a reference to Boufal's celebration, apologies for that. I've reversed the infraction now.
