I can project an image when I need to, dress up for a job interview etc. But among the friends where I don't need to do this, where I can just be myself be accepted as just me, those are the friends I value most of all.

OK, I'll take this slowly for you. When we took out the loan on the stadium, at THAT time, we COULD easily afford the repayments. Our position then changed AFTER we took out the loan with the relegation that resulted in us not being able to afford it. You took out a loan that you COULD NOT afford at THAT time, hoping that better players would change your position AFTER you took out your loan so you could then afford it. This is the difference that makes you lot financial cheaters, and us, unfortunate victims of circumstance. It's all in the timing. It's the difference between someone that loses their home because they lost their job and defaulted on a mortgage and someone that loses their home because they could never afford the mortage in the first place. One deserves sympathy, the other doesn't. Just a quick note people, I know PFC's opinions are drawing a lot of abuse right now from several different people and I can see why, but please try and argue against the point he's making rather than descending into personal abuse, even if you think he deserves it. (And thank you to the posters that have already done this.)

OK, that's it, I'm cracking down on this now! Closed as it's not really relevant to Saints any more (and all the egg jokes have already been used up)
-
Keegan! Well... If I'd been alive to see it anyway...
-
I wonder if Man Utd can actually afford those wages...
-
Never mind that, think instead about what kind of force we CAN be in the future, with Oxlande Chamberlain on the right, Lallana on the left... hopefully they're just the first our academy will produce with the investment going into it Depending on how tight the financial fair play laws get, it could end up being the academies that decide the superpowers of the English game over the coming years. And who knows, if the Leibherrs are serious about pushing us up the leagues over the coming years, maybe we'll see Bale in a Saints shirt again one day.
-
Alex OC is a special special talent. Potential to be better than Walcott or Bale I reckon, and at moments today there was some of the same magic in his boots that you see in Messi's... I wonder... I actually came away from the game bouncing, and it wasn't because we'd just pulled off a close win, it was because of how good I think he can be Of course, a bad performance from him on a cold rainy Tuesday night at some ground in the North and I'll probably change my mind again, but for now I'm hyped
-
I reckon he's most effective when he's allowed to swap positions along the midfield, he's got a good enough brain to find where the opposition are weak and he's our best player to exploit that weakness.

That refereeing performance was one of the very worst I've seen. I can't decide whether it was worse than the Leeds one or not. (Still, at least we won both of those games )

Not quite, the football league will kick them out if they're still in admin at the start of next season, and I'm pretty sure that they can't self fund in admin on non-league income.
-
I guess now we'll find out whether Chainrai passes the FaPPT.
-
You're laughing at us laughing at Pompey? Well at least there's one Pompey fan getting pleasure out of that thing down the other end of the M27...
-
They're finding as we did that the FL, unlike the Prem, has teeth. We DID find a loophole and they cracked down on us for trying to use it. Anyway, so far as I can see, AA managed to get the creditors to agree to a ridiculously cheap CVA, and their finances are so shot that they can't even afford that, and the only person that could possibly afford it, Chanrai, is being blocked from taking over by the FL, possibly due to failing the FaPPT. This leaves the Administrator picking up the tab on any losses Pompey make as they're still in administration. I can't imagine AA's bosses will let him go on for too much longer if he ends up costing them money.

Aaaand it looks like it wasn't this thread's last legs after all. There's at least another month to run now, until the next league meeting, as well as the excitement for their players of 'will I be paid this month?' all over again.

Maybe because the police are already fully aware of the incident and are investigating in due course? Also see the main board for a discussion on whether he should play for us with that hanging over him. Also, you do realise that the 'praise' of your support is condescending right? Something along the lines of 'awww look at that little club there... their ground makes quite a lot of noise considering the support is ****.' Also, I'm interested to hear what you think would be cheating by the club. One of your players attacking someone on the pitch maybe? Or players on the pitch that the club can't afford? Where do you actually draw the line, make the distinction that magically makes the club clean? And don't bother coming back with what Saints did, we were lucky and some people lost out because of that, I accept that, these are questions about your opinion of Pompey, not Saints.

See, this is where it gets clever. Huge canals will be built to accommodate the docks, thus kickstarting Switzerland's ocean cruise business and helping to bring them through the global recession. It's all mutually beneficial see.

According to NotW, CVA would be unworkable except Chanrai is guaranteeing the shortfall to the tune of £7M. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/football/1071699/South-Coast-club-finally-set-to-come-out-of-administration.html Can't see the motivation here, unless he's making the gambler's mistake of chasing losses and gambling on promotion. Can't see any other way he'll be getting his money back if he's guaranteeing that sort of money.

The best way I can think of to describe that? That was FUN to watch

The current name of this thread is Pompey Takeover Saga. They're still in administration and awaiting a takeover. The thread might be on its last legs, but it's not dead just yet.

See Dune, THIS is what annoys people. If someone disagrees with you, by all means post again, but try and make your points relevant to their arguments. Just trying to 'pile drive' your opinions onto other people... for a start it doesn't work, and it also annoys people.

It wasn't right that those kids had to go through that, and I in NO WAY condone what happened, but your chairman had to be expecting that kind of reaction after his conduct over the past few weeks? And yes, we care about you. About as much as every other team in this division, we need to win the vast majority of our games if we want promotion, including against you. You managed to draw extra supporters against us by hyping up your chances, goading people with your talk of being favourites against us because you're above us in the league, and maybe if you'd gotten a result against us it might have been the beginning of something, but you didn't. Your players froze in the 'derby' atmosphere, your crowd was quiet, we beat you comfortably, and our crowd settled into singing songs about how much we hate Pompey, same as we sang the week before, same as we'll sing next week. We won't be singing any songs about Bournemouth any time soon.

I'd like to apply to be a moderator, as I like to think I take the time to see any given situation objectively, and I think my posting history shows this. I'm also pretty good at getting my point across when needed, backing up arguments with documented facts, and accepting when I'm shown to be wrong. I've been a moderator on a forum before, although not for football and not nearly as big, we used to encourage users to make their argument once, ie. try and make a post actually add something to an argument, instead of sending it in circles, and to make their arguments attack the point being argued instead of other posters. It worked pretty well, but like I said it was a far smaller forum, still, hopefully the same sort of approach could work here. Another point is I'm a season ticket holder, so I'm not around on here for home matches.

Is it us clutching at straws or you burying your head in the sand? These are public figures that are in direct conflict with what your administrator has been saying is required. Added to the fact you're not out of admin yet, and it's not unreasonable to assume that the roses haven't started growing yet and all that's there is a pile of...

We paid compensation for Adkins didn't we? When we could have got someone unemployed for nothing? Phil Brown would certainly have been a 'name' we could have got for nothing, but Cortese obviously thinks Adkins has the ability and potential to be one of the best (and we doubled the wages he was getting to bring him here). I don't think it's lack of money stopping us in the transfer market, I think it's more the lack of what we're looking for. (Not to mention we already have one of the best squads in the division and already bought 3 or 4 players this season.)

He comes across as arrogant, with a poor attitude, but there's obviously some sort of issue there causing that. He's a genius with the cue in hand, he was pretty much the entire reason I started watching snooker, which dragged me in to watching other players as well and getting me interested enough to recognise the tactics involved as well as the skill... and then I was hooked. I'm not the only one like this and there wouldn't be nearly the same interest (or money!) in the game without him.
