At least the team managed to give him, and with him all us thousands of fans, an absolutely unforgettable day at Wembley. He'll always be remembered by us as a legend and a true Saint. RIP

Any adult that makes sweeping generalizations about a large percentage of the population based on their like of one TV Programme has some problems IMO.
-
+1 for the new Sherlock and new Dr Who.
-
Sky are part of Newscorp, same as The Sun... might be an issue there.
-
I loved both of these shows, two of the few shows where I made sure I never missed an episode.
-
I can see points deductions when Pompey are liquidated and a new company takes their place, at the very least.
-
It was melted down and used to make the statue that stands there now. In a way, it's still stood there...
-
Personally, regardless of the fact it's Saints, I don't like Newscorp, anything that manages to get them this wound up is something I find quite funny. Agreed. Which will make this interesting to watch as Cortese has made it clear he won't back down.

It occurs to me that right now, Pompey are still in administration. If the CVA was truly self funding, someone would have already taken over, but it's not. As posters on here have shown, there is a huge hole in the finances, Pompey is still a huge money sink for whoever takes over, hence we've got that magic 'if' word in Chanrai's statements when he talks about taking over, as well as it coming out that it was the administrator that approached Chanrai after the CVA, not the other way round. The CVA doesn't mean anything until someone's willing to pay it, so right now they're in the same situation as we were, trying to sell a club out of admin with no-one actually willing to put the money in. Maybe the fact that they're still in more debt than we were in, even though it's only 20% of what it was, along with the complete lack of infrastructure, complete lack of competitive playing staff, small crowds and therefore low income, along with some of the CVA money needed (from players sold and this years parachute payments) already apparently being missing is putting people off. As we were painfully aware last season, any delay in a takeover hurts the club's chances on the field, so the fact that they haven't already been taken over points to them not being taken over at all. This thread still has a few pages to run yet.

Yeah, we'd be so much better off right now if we hadn't been bought out of admin, I mean, having no club at all would be far better... -
Sod off. We restricted them to one shot on goal, the entire match. Unfortunately they scored it but that's the way football goes sometimes. In any case, it was a very good defensive display. Apart from that, we had several chances to score, Lallana had a shot that was only stopped by a fantastic save. We had a metric crapload of crosses and most days we'd have put at least one of them in. Two or three times near the end of the game they were scrambling to clear it out of the box, making last ditch tackles, most games we'd have put at least one of those in. We're not just relying on Lambert, we scored from all over the pitch last season, but having the best player in the league back playing might have made a difference, no? In any case, I stand by what I said, play like that and we'll be fine this season.
-
Football never ceases to amaze me with how such a one sided game can sometimes go the 'wrong' way. Play like that the rest of the season and we'll be fine.

Best to wait and see how this is actually used methinks. There are a lot of things that, when they're announced, attract a lot of criticism because they could be used in some way... then they're not used that way and everyone forgets about them. Yes it's possible this single company could be to control the images coming out of St Marys, Cortese is a control freak etc etc. It's also possible one company paid a lot of money, or at least more than we would have got otherwise, for exclusivity on Saints' photos, much like EA has exclusivity on Prem players' likenesses etc. which goes on all the time. Heck, if it works for us, every other club will probably follow suit and do the same. -
Actually, missing a payment would probably be grounds for a creditor to issue a winding up order, the HMRC for one are still owed more than £750.
-
Or not. If he comes down on HMRC's side...
-
Nothing to read into that, he asked both sides if they would appeal. Likely he hasn't made his mind up yet, but may be leaning one way or the other.
-
They can, but this judge has never had an appeal on one of his decisions upheld. Whichever way he goes with it is how I'd expect it to stay.
-
Now that's interesting, came across from the reporting that point two was their main argument, it was all starting to look a bit flimsy TBH, but this would seem to go against that.
-
They're probably going to go after football debt being treated as unsecured debt to get themselves over the 75% mark.
-
No administrator would take them on if HMRC win, as their policy of not accepting anything less than 100p in the £ would make a CVA impossible.
-
Unfortunately, what he did has nothing to do with whether he can claim compensation or not. We might not believe he deserves protection, but the law does... I don't like it, but he's probably entitled to it, unless the prison can prove they took reasonable precautions to protect him. Ignore the law in one instance because people believe it's wrong, and that's a slippery slope, complain that the law should be changed, rather than for the law not to be followed.
