Likewise, but it was based on the 2007/8 tax year. A whole £1 of interest, total value of £98

Worth also bearing in mind that there's not necessarily any link between any criminal proceedings and an FA hearing. For example, the CPS may find that they simply don't have enough evidence to secure a criminal conviction, but the FA's burden of proof may be somewhat different. Also, re Suarez and whether what he said is deemed "normal" in Uruguay... he's not in Uruguay, and has been in nations that take the issue of racism very seriously for 4 years. If he wasn't aware of the cultural differences after that period of time then that's another issue entirely.

Boxing Day will be horrendous in town as all the shops will be starting their sales, so I wouldn't expect anywhere to be particularly easy to get to/from that day, sadly. Coming in from that side of town will probably be the worst of all, the M271 is a pain in the arse at the best of times. Might be worth having a look to see what bus services are running, and then park up in a residential area outside the city and get a bus in/out using the voucher on your match tickets.

Personally, I'd be ****ed off if an England player DIDN'T stop the ball crossing the line in the last minute of extra time by any means possible. At the end of the day, Gyan still had a free shot at goal from the resulting penalty, if you can't score in those circumstances to win the game, tough ****.

I assume we've all seen Liverpool's official statement? http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/liverpool-fc-statement-20-12-11 Essentially, they're taking the "he can't be a racist, he has black friends" defence Unsurprisingly, this decision has Liverpool fans foaming at the mouth, suggesting they should withdraw from the FA Cup in protest and other such hilarious displays of self-pity. I did like the suggestion that their English players should refuse to play for their country again. Considering those players are Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll and a crocked Steven Gerrard, go right ahead, I say

But they've already set a precedent by allowing Vodafone to avoid around £6bn of corporation tax just by channeling the money overseas, with an agreement from Hartnett that any future profits moved in this way won't be taxed either. Other companies will see that and have a legal precedent to use in court should HMRC come after them in the future. It's genuinely incredible how this ****wit has been allowed to retire gracefully rather than booted out in disgrace.

Definitely not, UHY Hacker Young are small-fry compared to the likes of KPMG

Domestic rules are different to continental ones, simply because of the massive difference in the number of games played. DIS is correct, the general rule that the FA applies is 3 games for a straight red (except for "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity" offences, which is only 1 game), 1 for a two-booking dismissal and 1 for 5 total bookings. The red card suspensions are extended automatically for multiple offences within the same season, so if a player had already been sent off this season and then got sent off again for, for example, a second booking, he'd serve a 2-game ban rather than a 1-game one. The FA also has scope to impose additional sanctions on players "in exceptional circumstances" (see Roy Keane on Alf-Inge Haaland, Ben Thatcher on Pedro Mendes, etc), but it's very rare that ever happens.

I wonder how many skates will be arrested ....

Someone would have to make an official complaint, otherwise technically there is no "victim". -
Brighton Assuming they don't win appeals against them, both Barnes and Vincelot will miss the game against us.

It wouldn't change a thing. To all intents and purposes, someone like Antonov would still be granted a licence, and that licence would only be revoked once it was too late.

And therein lies the problem with the Fit and Proper Persons test/Owners and Directors test/whatever it's called this week. Pompey fans can complain that the Premier League and Football League should have stopped the succession of dodgy owners from taking over, but as you rightly say, nothing had been proven against any of them at the time of them buying the club. Ultimately, the issue is that once a club is known to have had one dodgy owner, nobody reputable would realistically want to touch the club with a bargepole. How do they know that what they're being presented with in terms of the accounts is actually a true reflection? They simply wouldn't take that risk.

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

I'm going to throw the name of Luciano Becchio into the ring. A good all-round striker, can hold the ball up, decent in the air, and IIRC has decent burst of acceleration. I often think out-and-out pace is overrated in a central striker, sharpness and a little bit of acceleration is more important to get away from defenders in and around the area. He's not been getting regular games at Leeds because of Ross McCormack's form, so might be available. -
Explains the +21 goal difference perfectly...

It was also made clear that they would inform all successful applicants by the 1st of December. They haven't managed to do that, so I don't really see what option they've got other than to open for an hour or so before the buses leave for the remaining tickets to be collected. -
Southampton vs Sheffield Utd - FA Youth Cup 3rd round - FT 7-0!
stevegrant replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
While there's no doubt that this is an impressive result, it's also worth bearing in mind that only three players from last year's final were in the Sheffield United side last night. Jordan Slew, their top scorer, was sold to Blackburn in the summer, and a number of the others have - perhaps a year or two early - been pushed into the first-team squad after they were relegated to League One. That said, you can only beat what's in front of you, and 7-0 is a pretty rare scoreline even at that level. -

5-0, Sinclair! -
I think that article's not quite right in terms of "condition-free bail" - both Antonov and the other fella have to report to a local police station either every day or every other day, and their passports have been surrendered, so it would be a proper smuggle job to get them out of the country before their extradition trial.

Most clubs in Spain whack their prices right up for the games against Real Madrid and Barcelona, I've got a vague recollection that Malaga (before they suddenly became wealthy) were charging more for one game against Barcelona in some parts of the ground than it would cost to get a season ticket!

Fraudulent Insurance Claim...?
stevegrant replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in Motoring Forum
If they've got CCTV footage, surely he'll be able to prove that you reversed fast and recklessly enough to cause that damage. If he puts an insurance claim in, state that you are aware that he was watching on CCTV and will therefore have a recording of the incident. I can pretty much guarantee that the tape will have "gone missing" and he'll probably drop the case... -
I bet there were loads who would have thought "**** it, I'll wait until the Blackpool game, they won't sell them all in a day"
