  1. This. The only reason this link has come about is because some idiot who follows RR on Twitter told him he'd like him to sign for us. He's spent the last two years in Moldova and the German third division (probably on a par with the Conference in terms of resources).
  2. He hasn't "retired" as such, just said that he won't play for them again under the current management because of the way they've treated him. Unfortunately for him, he's under a central contract at the moment, so they can revoke any "no-objection certificates" they had previously issued. In theory that means he can't play for us tomorrow, although I'm sure they'll find a way to make it happen. Sounded like both he and Jimmy Adams are in decent nick, he hit 44 off 18 balls against Surrey's seconds this afternoon while Adams hit an unbeaten 107
  3. Rather surprisingly, FIFA was actually formed in 1904, and we weren't a founder member. We, along with the other Home Nations, joined a year or two later. Founder member nations: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Spain (via Madrid Football Club - the national association didn't exist at that point), Sweden and Switzerland.
  4. He's terrible. There's a reason he's been playing in the German Third Division this season.
  5. Nothing yet, but then I only applied for 3 or 4 events, so not really expecting much.
  6. One other thing - it really comes to something when Jack Warner is proclaimed as the saviour of world football
  7. "We write to you expressing solidarity at this time". The FA are just as bad, there are far too many people involved in the game in this country who are in it to benefit themselves rather than benefiting the game they claim to govern. They can release as many statements as they like, saying they're abstaining and calling for the election to be postponed, but it smacks of a) sour grapes from 2018 (regardless of the bribe allegations, Russia's bid was perfectly credible anyway), and b) a case of "those in glass houses". They need to get their own house in order before anyone can really take them seriously. Don't forget, the other thing to come out from the two FIFA press conferences over the weekend was that the FA's report on Triesman's claims basically exonerated all four ExCo members
  8. Quite amusing: http://frattonise.blogspot.com/2011/05/record-breaking-takeover-talks-rises.html
  9. Jack Warner has suddenly gone up in my estimation... here is what is probably the first in a long line of statements from him which will form part of the "tsunami" he spoke of last week: And so the house of cards begins to fall...
  10. I spoke to a mate who works for Cedar and he'd heard nothing about losing the programme contract. At this stage, assuming that rumour's rubbish.
  11. MLG seems to make a living out of being "technically correct" while altogether missing the point entirely. I think this thread has more than run its course.
  12. Pathetic.
  13. To be fair, Blackpool could justify it, they just chose not to.
  14. There were 28 people involved.
  15. No, it was entirely made up. It could well be AP, but certainly nothing to do with his time here.
  16. The way transfers are accounted for can be somewhat confusing, as sales are recorded directly (i.e. you now have cash in the bank and/or guaranteed future payments), whereas purchases are amortised/depreciated over the duration of the player's contract. Taking a fairly straightforward example, Chelsea signed Torres for £50m on a five and a half year contract. Rather than take £50m directly out of the profit and loss account, his value is depreciated over the duration of that contract, roughly £9m a year. That £9m is documented on the profit and loss account as "amortisation of player contracts". It gets a bit more complex when that contract is renegotiated or extended at some point. If, after two and a half years, his contract is extended to another 5-year contract, at that stage his value on the balance sheet will be £23.5m (2.5 x £9m), so that amount will then be amortised over the duration of the new contract, meaning the annual write-off is reduced to just £4.7m a year. On a slight tangent, that's how Chelsea are likely to pass UEFA's new Financial Fair Play criteria, because in comparison to 3 or 4 years ago, they've not been spending an absolute fortune on transfer fees. Man City will struggle at the current rate (although selling Tevez will probably help significantly).
  17. Works fine for me. Quite a lot of pages
  18. Were you at a game when any of this happened? Did you either confront the individuals or report it? I'm guessing a "no" to at least the second question...
  19. In theory they would head straight for the liquidator, I think. However, if the CVA document has a ridiculous get-out loophole, they'll probably be fine.
  20. Just a post number will be fine
  21. What were these lines? I've seen this mentioned a few times but must have missed the actual find at the time...
  22. Sorry, what??

Given your recent record of posting things that were never said on Talksport, I'll take this one with a pinch of salt
  24. I went to the game yesterday (pretty much on my doorstep so would have been rude not to!), and it was a 300 wicket, to be fair. We didn't bowl particularly badly, and it was a pretty flat track with a fast outfield and short boundaries. The game was lost in overs 10-20 of our innings. Howell was excellent, Myburgh and Vince doing what they seem to do more often than not by getting in and then getting out stupidly. Dawson looked in good touch before he got out as well. What doesn't help our cause is McKenzie coming in and taking 25 balls to score his first six runs at a time when we had a fair bit of momentum. Sometimes he needs to remember he's not batting for a day to save a test match at Lord's...
  25. However much he paid for the "advice" to sue Twitter and demand details of any user who had posted anything relating to his affair, it wasn't anywhere near enough. Absolutely staggering that a lawyer genuinely thought he would have a case there He'd be well-advised now to go down the Andrew Marr route. The majority of people know who it is anyway, and ironically all that is being achieved with this super-injunction is keeping the story IN the press!
