  1. But they got the information for the story in question from the internet... Given the amount of content they have on their website these days, I don't think there's much value in suggesting they're ignoring web content and web-based news. That's why they're able to get articles on the website before they appear in print.
  2. Anybody else tried playing FM10 on a Mac? I've got a decent-spec MacBook (comfortably good enough according to the game's spec) and without fail, the following happens every time I start the game: 1. Loads fine, minor impact on overall system performance mainly due to high speed of DVD drive; 2. Play one game, memory usage doubles; 3. Play another game, memory usage doubles again; 4. Play another game, memory usage doubles again; 5. Play another game, midway through, the game crashes. Brilliant. Needless to say, I'll be getting a refund...
  3. How have the Echo "destroyed confidence between the two"?! We don't know for sure where the Echo got the info about the planning application, but I would suspect it didn't come from the club - they were probably planning on telling the echo on Tuesday so they were briefed ready for the Wednesday press conference, but didn't bank on people being able to use the internet and finding the plans sooner. A fan at NFDC was probably the first to alert someone to the plans which has then spread onto the forums. The Echo picked up on it - as they should - and wanted to report on it. I don't see what the big deal is, it's a positive story for both the club and the Marchwood area. The only thing I can think of is that Cortese's pride has been dented a bit as he wanted to be the one to pull off the dustsheet from the Lego model.
  4. I think he meant that it won't affect the angle of coverage - they're not suddenly going to go on the attack. That said, I did also laugh for the same reason Would explain it, the situation as it has been laid out in black and white makes no sense at all.
  5. The first news outlet, anyway And it actually appears as though Yahoo! Eurosport were the first, which is somewhat random.
  6. I'm reliably informed that the Echo got all their information from the New Forest District Council website in the same way as we did on here. They used public documents, so there's no copyright issue to overcome, and there was no "embargo" as such. Cortese asked the Echo to hold their coverage of it, but they (rightly, IMO) believed it was pointless doing so because it was already in the public domain and the readership would be rightly questioning why they hadn't reported on it. Sky Sports News were the first to report on it, anyway. I bet they don't get banned...
  7. There's nothing that screams "we're on the verge of administration" more than issuing a strongly-worded and defensive statement that says "we're not on the verge of administration"...
  8. We're winning games, simple as that, I think. 10 games unbeaten away from home, that's not happened before in living memory.
  9. Didn't see that one coming...
  10. See attached image, snapshot taken a minute ago...
  11. I think it was a Premier League/Football League regulation that clubs had to have one and have it hosted on their website - what they then did with it was up to them. The only time I can remember it ever being brought up was when the club decided they were going to amend the pledge to only release a new away kit every two years and do one every year instead.
  12. To be fair, the club has had a Supporters' Charter for years. Whether they've actually paid any attention to it in the past or not, though, is another matter...
  13. If anything, the implosion would have been even more spectacular if he'd stayed.
  14. I've come to the conclusion that people will read what they want to read and ignore helpful factual information just so they can have a whinge. Congratulations. Enjoy the game with your view of about 300 empty seats in the away end, wishing you'd not been bashing the keyboard so violently in a rage that the next batch of tickets were only "on their way".
  15. Unlikely that we will take the FULL allocation of 2800. We already have the second allocation of 600 (making a current total of 1700) on the way...
  16. Feel free to read the whole of this page again. There will be at least 600 more tickets available as soon as they arrive at the ticket office - may be later today, may be tomorrow, but there will be more tickets.
  17. The second allocation being the extra 600 to take us from 1100 to 1700, yes. Need to shift most of those 600 in the next day or two in order to get the full allocation though.
  18. I'm reliably informed that the reason the online ticket sales say "Sold Out" is because the additional 600 tickets have not yet arrived. The original 1100 have all been sold. Expecting the deadline for the full allocation to shift as a result...
  19. The Premier League are almost certainly hoping Pompey survive financially until the end of the season but get relegated, so then they can wash their hands of the whole situation and put the ball in the Football League's court instead.
  20. Not sure - they were only 1000 or so short of capacity on Saturday, although that was for a local derby.
  21. I think in the interview he said something like "I thought there was going to be contact so I went down, but when I realised there wasn't any contact I tried to stop myself and get up again". Because that makes it alright then...
  22. The Thierry Henry defence, then...
  23. Just received this from David Luker: Saints have sold 700 of the original 1100 allocation and have therefore asked for the additional tickets to take our allocation to 1700 for this massive game at Elland Road. It is unlikely that Saints will receive further tickets unless there is a substantial increase in ticket sales in the next 24-48 hours. Leeds have set a deadline of 8th December for us to request these additional tickets (taking us to an allocation of 2800) as there is demand from their own fans for these seats. Should ticket sales be close to 1700 tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, then we may be able to request the additional tickets from Leeds. If not, we will have to stick with the 1700 already allotted.
  24. I strongly suspect the Premier League will ultimately end up doing diddly squat for Pompey. They'll cease to be a member of the PL when they're relegated in May anyway, so they'll be able to completely wash their hands of the situation. If it were a club likely to remain in the PL, I would expect the PL to help them out because of the potential damage to the Premier League "brand" - as hideous as that sounds, that's what the big cheeses there are concerned about.
  25. But putting yourself out there with your own website will do that. At the end of the day, if you didn't come across as a bit of an arse on here at times, nobody would bat an eyelid. People only get "a bunch of idiots" looking up stuff about them when they draw attention to themselves.
