Well you're clearly not bothering, so what's the point, really?
-
It's a dangerous precedent regardless of the reason. Read the multitude of reasons listed elsewhere on this thread, particularly concerning the worth placed on the freedom of the press in this country. You don't know the reason either, and yet you've already acted as judge, jury and executioner on Cortese's behalf... you can't have it both ways.
-
I couldn't disagree more, to be honest. Each talking point should be taken on its own merits. Just because Cortese's past actions have received widespread praise, that doesn't mean the bloke's infallible and won't make mistakes. In the same vein, just because the Echo isn't to everyone's tastes, that doesn't mean that they aren't to be taken seriously. Banning the press sets a very dangerous precedence - even more so that it's all seemingly over a positive story, a story that seems to have been completely lost among this ********. Murray was wrong to use Lowe as a stick, I don't think you'll find many arguments to the contrary, and I suspect he's probably not helped the Echo's cause there.
-
And yet for the best part of 5 days, you've been clear in your mind that Cortese is clearly right to ban the Echo, despite not actually hearing from SFC as to why they've come to that decision - not hypocritical at all, oh no...

There's a fundamental difference between the way the news agencies (such as PA, Reuters, etc) work and the way newspapers work - particularly regional ones. The Echo would never use the "wires" for Saints stories as the agencies tend to only write 5 or 6 paragraphs on any particular story, and almost always without images - the papers generally don't want more copy than that, otherwise they have to spend time re-editing it to fit the limited space they've set aside for that story - and the Echo would normally write much more in-depth articles as they have more pages to fill on the subject. The plans are part of a public document - as a result, I'm not entirely sure they're actually subject to copyright in terms of reproducing parts of them as part of news reporting. If someone was taking those artists impressions and using them as the basis of their own document on something else and passing it off as their own work, THEN there would be an issue, but that's not the situation the club and the Echo find themselves in.

It *should* be fine - after all, it comfortably meets the minimum spec, and the minimum spec should be what is required for key features to run. The 3D match engine is a pretty key feature, I'd say.
-
Yes, I'm running it in 3D mode - that was one of the more interesting features that made me buy it, to be honest, as I didn't get last year's one out of principle after the shambles they caused.
-
It's fully patched. I knew it would need the patch to be playable (as usual) so downloaded that as soon as I installed the game.
-
You're trying my patience today with your condescending tone, although I should expect nothing else from a teacher really. If the game crashes at the same point time after time, and other software (which requires a bigger spec) works fine consistently, there is clearly a problem with the game. Whether it's just my disc or a wider problem, I neither know nor care. My disc is faulty, therefore I am entitled to a refund or exchange.

Faulty goods = Sale of Goods Act.

Why are you copying and pasting your own posts from elsewhere all the time? Just as well you're not in charge at the Echo really, they'd have gone bust years ago with time and task management like that.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A60412934 That was where MB got it from.
-
Wrong again. MB lifted the link from somewhere else, he didn't "notice" them. Repeating the same fiction over and over again doesn't eventually make it become fact.
-
So what? Oh noes, the Echo doesn't have the resources to be hitting F5 on the New Forest District Council's planning department website just on the off-chance that Saints might have put in an application for Staplewood redevelopment. The club asked to delay a story that had already been released elsewhere! An utterly pointless request. See above. I would bet significant money that a hell of a lot of the Echo's readership would have seen it on Sky Sports News on Monday, or would at least have heard from somebody who had seen it.
-
But they got the information for the story in question from the internet... Given the amount of content they have on their website these days, I don't think there's much value in suggesting they're ignoring web content and web-based news. That's why they're able to get articles on the website before they appear in print.

Anybody else tried playing FM10 on a Mac? I've got a decent-spec MacBook (comfortably good enough according to the game's spec) and without fail, the following happens every time I start the game: 1. Loads fine, minor impact on overall system performance mainly due to high speed of DVD drive; 2. Play one game, memory usage doubles; 3. Play another game, memory usage doubles again; 4. Play another game, memory usage doubles again; 5. Play another game, midway through, the game crashes. Brilliant. Needless to say, I'll be getting a refund...

How have the Echo "destroyed confidence between the two"?! We don't know for sure where the Echo got the info about the planning application, but I would suspect it didn't come from the club - they were probably planning on telling the echo on Tuesday so they were briefed ready for the Wednesday press conference, but didn't bank on people being able to use the internet and finding the plans sooner. A fan at NFDC was probably the first to alert someone to the plans which has then spread onto the forums. The Echo picked up on it - as they should - and wanted to report on it. I don't see what the big deal is, it's a positive story for both the club and the Marchwood area. The only thing I can think of is that Cortese's pride has been dented a bit as he wanted to be the one to pull off the dustsheet from the Lego model.
-
I think he meant that it won't affect the angle of coverage - they're not suddenly going to go on the attack. That said, I did also laugh for the same reason Would explain it, the situation as it has been laid out in black and white makes no sense at all.
-
The first news outlet, anyway And it actually appears as though Yahoo! Eurosport were the first, which is somewhat random.
-
I'm reliably informed that the Echo got all their information from the New Forest District Council website in the same way as we did on here. They used public documents, so there's no copyright issue to overcome, and there was no "embargo" as such. Cortese asked the Echo to hold their coverage of it, but they (rightly, IMO) believed it was pointless doing so because it was already in the public domain and the readership would be rightly questioning why they hadn't reported on it. Sky Sports News were the first to report on it, anyway. I bet they don't get banned...

I think it was a Premier League/Football League regulation that clubs had to have one and have it hosted on their website - what they then did with it was up to them. The only time I can remember it ever being brought up was when the club decided they were going to amend the pledge to only release a new away kit every two years and do one every year instead.
