I'm not sure the most recent strike did actually get any sort of result for the union - if I remember rightly, about half of the underground workforce belong to a different union to the RMT, and they all worked as normal, and even a lot of the RMT members crossed the picket line because they didn't agree with the strike. In the current economic climate, with more than 2m people unemployed, there can be no justifiable reason for striking other than on the grounds of health and safety, IMO.

Something I read in one of the free papers on my way to work this morning suggested that recruitment agencies that provide workers to Royal Mail during the strike might actually be acting illegally (i.e. providing replacement staff during "lawful" industrial action) and they could be fined £5000 per worker per day...

To be fair, the Sun is 'Arry and Storrie's favourite mouthpiece, so it's probably not too far wide of the mark.

I saw this on another forum earlier in the week, and someone found a YouTube video showing a game at that ground - at the other end of the ground is a luxury hotel... utterly bizarre -
Is the Vanilla one Mac-compatible?

Right, I don't do torrents, so how would I get hold of a copy of the strawberry version?

Well Murty's back in training, I believe, and he'll definitely be there. Gillett obviously won't be there, but the "meet and greet" session takes place in one area with all sponsors and the players, so the winners will be able to have a chat with other players as well. -
I currently have the 8320, which does the job quite nicely. Not long until I'm due an upgrade, if I remember rightly

Draw will take place this morning, results posted shortly -
Pretty much every team in the Football League uses the same company to produce and run their website - in fact it's the same company that brought us the distinctly "meh" coverage of Ukraine v England on Saturday. While the clubs themselves obviously have some element of control over the content, I suspect there are various contractual agreements in terms of shares of advertising revenue, etc. The only reason the club signed a deal with Perform (formerly Premium TV) was because it made sense financially, as the club didn't then have to employ people to maintain the technical side of things including SaintsTV, all the video archives, etc. No idea how long the contract lasts for, but I'd hope they'll move away from Perform again at the earliest possible opportunity...

I'm going to guess that the England TSTs have already sold out.

The Old Grey Mare and the White Hart have been suggested as away-friendly pubs near the ground, both on Rochdale Road.

One of our sources is wrong, Duncan... mine tells me sales of the Pink are up this season

Absolutely insane how we've suddenly found a knack of scoring from set pieces, having been utter turd at them pretty much since Le Tiss retired...
-
There was definitely contact, but unfortunately Morgan decided he had to over-exaggerate the fall with a twist as he fell - as a result, I wasn't at all surprised to see the ref give the decision the other way.
-
On my way back now... we were superb in the first half, probably Lallana's best individual performance of his career so far, Southend just couldn't get near him. Notable mentions for Schneiderlin and Lambert going forward and Paul Wotton for a sterling holding job in front of the back 4. Couldn't do anything with their goal, great strike from the free-kick.
-
Well that was unexpected... a very pleasant surprise though

To be fair, with two goals he did at least contribute, which can't be said for most of the rest of them. -

Christ, that was painful viewing. I think the main thing that Pardew will probably have learned from tonight is that some of the fringe players aren't good enough. Also, lumping the ball to Lambert is a ridiculous tactic that just doesn't work. Surely we've learned that by now? ("apparently not" is the obvious answer) While we were terrible from about the 10th minute onwards, the ref was equally appalling. Some of the decisions he gave were just bizarre in the extreme, and then showed complete inconsistency by not giving us a free-kick for identical "fouls". Made a change to see five clinical penalty takers, though - why couldn't that have been the case at Pride Park? -
