The Premier League are almost certainly hoping Pompey survive financially until the end of the season but get relegated, so then they can wash their hands of the whole situation and put the ball in the Football League's court instead.

Leeds Away Ticket Info - full allocation taken
stevegrant replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Not sure - they were only 1000 or so short of capacity on Saturday, although that was for a local derby. -
I think in the interview he said something like "I thought there was going to be contact so I went down, but when I realised there wasn't any contact I tried to stop myself and get up again". Because that makes it alright then...

The Thierry Henry defence, then...

Just received this from David Luker: Saints have sold 700 of the original 1100 allocation and have therefore asked for the additional tickets to take our allocation to 1700 for this massive game at Elland Road. It is unlikely that Saints will receive further tickets unless there is a substantial increase in ticket sales in the next 24-48 hours. Leeds have set a deadline of 8th December for us to request these additional tickets (taking us to an allocation of 2800) as there is demand from their own fans for these seats. Should ticket sales be close to 1700 tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, then we may be able to request the additional tickets from Leeds. If not, we will have to stick with the 1700 already allotted.

Portsmouth fail to pay their players again...
stevegrant replied to Daren W's topic in General Sports
I strongly suspect the Premier League will ultimately end up doing diddly squat for Pompey. They'll cease to be a member of the PL when they're relegated in May anyway, so they'll be able to completely wash their hands of the situation. If it were a club likely to remain in the PL, I would expect the PL to help them out because of the potential damage to the Premier League "brand" - as hideous as that sounds, that's what the big cheeses there are concerned about. -
But putting yourself out there with your own website will do that. At the end of the day, if you didn't come across as a bit of an arse on here at times, nobody would bat an eyelid. People only get "a bunch of idiots" looking up stuff about them when they draw attention to themselves.

I was under the impression that you would have set up your website so that people could see it, Will, not hide it away from people? How do you expect to generate any sort of interest?

Portsmouth fail to pay their players again...

Not a clue, to be honest. I would imagine it's written into their contract that they will generally be paid on X day, but that the club has until Y before the contract has been breached. -

As yet, they haven't failed to pay their players. They were late paying them September's wages and they will presumably be late paying them November's wages. It's only once they actually fail to pay them at all that they are then in breach of contract with the players. The Luton 10-point deduction was for irregular payments to agents - all payments must go through the football club so they can be properly accounted for by the FA, but their former directors made some payments through the holding company. The remaining 20 points was because they failed to exit administration with an accepted CVA - for the third time. Leeds had a 15-point deduction as it was the first time, and Bournemouth and Rotherham both had 17-point deductions as it was the second time they'd done it. Edit to add: Luton's 10-point deduction was imposed by the Football Association, the 20-point deduction by the Football League under their own respective rules. -

The fact that they're not in administration yet would probably be your answer, Daren. Until such time, they won't get any sanctions. -
Painful viewing, but a clean sheet and out of the bottom 4, so really can't complain too much. Can't help but feel that semi-competent opposition would have beaten us tonight, though.

I think we can safely say the bar at the bowling alley won't be rated among the best...

It's not particularly intuitive, but to get your own reserved season ticket seat, you need to go to "My Account" and then on the left there's an option for "Cup Matches and Season Renewals". In there, select "JPT Semi-Final" and then "Add to Order".

Stats can always be twisted to suit whatever argument you want to make. For example, if we say that the first month of the season was effectively our pre-season under Pardew as he was still sussing out who he wanted to keep and who he didn't during those 5 games, and take the results from September onwards, we've collected 23 points, which is the 4th-best return during that period.

Strange one really, as he's on a season-long loan I presumed that there's automatically no recall clause in the deal. Hardly a glowing endorsement for Tommy Forecast if we're looking to recall Poke to sit on the bench!
-
Unfortunately most of the time he wanted (demanded) the ball from team-mates, he was stood in the centre circle while they were 40 yards further forward.
-
Disruptive influence, not needed. He was told by West Ham to stay away from the club altogether, not even to train with the youth team!

MOTD and MOTD2 are only shown live on iPlayer, I don't think they have the rights to show it in playback mode.

Nope, that won't be changing.

Will probably need a little bit more info, to be fair! Something along the lines of: SELECT t1.col_1, t1.col_2, SUM(t2.col_3) FROM tab_1 t1, tab_2 t2, tab_3 t3 WHERE t1.col_1 = t2.col_1 AND t2.col_1 = t3.col_1 (+) ORDER BY t1.col_1 NULLS LAST; The (+) command allows null results to be returned in the table join between t2 and t3 in that example. -
Do they still have planning permission based on the original plans or did that expire? If the latter, they'll need to reapply for PP, which clearly won't be ready for a March start
